Stocked up on the 6.8 spc, today Feb. 2021, hard to come by with ammo shortage
Yes and still is for 6.8
one thing to consider is the velocity listed on the box for the 223 and 308 are from a 24 inch barrel, while the 6.8spc it from a 16 inch barrel. the 223 and 308 from a 16 inch will be significantly lower than the advertised velocity on the box. I've chrono'd some of the 120 sst's and they were running 2530 fps from my 16 inch rifle.
@Nicholas Rodriguez i should have been more clear. the 120 sst doing 2530 is in from my 6.8spc. my hk clone in 308 shoots 150 grain remington core lokts about the same speed with a 16 inch barrel. I've noticed that 308 does better with a short barrel out of a bolt action than a semi.
@Nicholas Rodriguez maybe it's just the delayed blowback action my hk has but I've seen people shoot loads in a bolt action with the same barrel length and they are faster than my gun. you need some of the energy to cycle the bolt.
@d fleury. Good info to know. Appreciate you watching 👍🏻
You can change out uppers & mags between the .223 & 6.8. So you can get both. Oh, FYI, some state won't allow the .223 for deer. The 6.8 has a .277(270) diameter. Which is larger than 6mm/,243 minimums.
. the .224 valkerie and 6.8 spc use a differnt bolt and magazine. the valk, spc, 556(223) all use a differnt barrel. the 6.8 wins on shorter barrel.
Good vid. I been shooting the 6.8spc for 10 yrs.. if i could have only one ar.. it would be in 6.8spc.. it is the the 40 s&w compromise of the 2000's
Being a .40 man as well I fully appreciate your comment. Thanks for watching
He is such a quiet soft spoken man. "Taken" instead of killed. Regular PC in action.
Thanks
Niceee. Very detailed vid man.
Blake Jackson Recordings appreciate it.
.223 does an awesome neck shot!! I like them all, nice vid!!
The Bohemian Hunting Club appreciate it. That’s how I feel about them too and every other caliber that’s offered in the AR platform. Lol
Really good
Appreciate it
great video btw
ocifer Pete appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
They should’ve just made the 6.8spc take 80,000psi chamber pressure. I mean idk. The M4 they ran 3 round burst. If they can run this semi auto or 2 round burst with the same effectiveness then you’re getting the same amount of shots. If they run 3 round burst then you’ll get 7 shots instead of 10. With one light one. But I’ve never served. So who knows. Maybe they ran full auto the whole time idk.
Good video. I don’t know what state you live in. But in MT a .223 is a varmint cartridge only. We have big deer. No one shoots less than a .243 and more typical is a .270. for deer. .308 and up for elk.
Although it’s not ideal, in the state of kentucky the only requirement for deer is the cartridge has to be center fire. My preferred round is a 25-06 from a ruger M77 Mark 2. .270 is a great round as well. Thanks for watching.
All good caliber
Connie Lingus I agree. Thanks for watching
I flavor 223 62gr xm855 (steel core)...im thinkin my next ar will be running 300 blackout 200gr subs ...
ocifer Pete I’ve not gotten into the 300 blackouts yet, but they have always intrigued me

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Man i should got an ar10.
I'd heard 6.8 and .270 are similar. If I bought a 6.8 would it accept .270 if 6.8 ammo was hard to find or expensive? Sounds like a dumb question to some, but I was curious
270 wont chamber. its a longer action like 3006.
No it will not but ballistic wise I think of it as a “270 short” of sorts
First choice 308 second 6.8
Gid F thanks for watching
Farmer-06 sure thing, great channel! I’ll subscribe
Appreciate the sub 👍🏻
The 6.8 for hunting deer and hogs in the south woods. Most 308s are just too heavy unless you sit in a blind all day. 223's aren't legal for hunting deer on public lands.
Hey particular caliber requirements vary by state. In my state .223 is but it isn’t in every state. Thanks for watching.
None of the above. It is 6.5 Grendel for me all the way.
Great round as well
Why he showed 3 rounds but only 2 bullets? Downvoted.
I don’t currently reload 6.8 so I don’t have any lose bullets in that caliber. Thanks for watching.
Last time I checked CZcams uses likes and dislikes. This ain't Reddit my guy.
@reiniergarcia stfu and make your own video then lmao oh yea your to broke to make a video that requires guns and ammo brokie
