- BA57’s Climb-Out from Heathrow into perfect cloud/moisture conditions, capturing the insane wing Downwash. This is relative to any aircraft but luckily, when the weather conditions are right, we get to see this amazing aerodynamic phenomena.
Now you know what it’s like sometimes at the Paddock, especially from the 777’s 💪🏻
I love it when someone is so enthusiastic about something.

Have you ever seen the videos of the young guy that follows trains around? He gets soooo excited when they come through the station.
And this why we love BigJetTv so much, the fantastic shots of the king of the skies and the hard work and dedication of Jerry&Gilly that bring it to us 😊 most appreciated.
That was amazing! You don’t see that every day.
You have caught some amazing sights over the years, Jerry, but that was truly spectacular! It makes visible that which is usually invisible and demonstrates why ATC needs to warn “caution.. wake turbulence.. departing A380.😮
Beautiful! Great shot there Jerry. Wingtip vortices turning into downwash - it's wonderful when it's humid enough you can actually see them all. 😊
Love the enthusiasm. This is why I keep watching 😊
Stunning peace of camera work, top draw Jerry
That was a 2-dimentional representation of what is happening behind & under the aircraft on a constant basis, wake turbulence. The forces are amazing.
Nothing like a spectacular cloud punch with Jerry's commentary 🙂
The Murray Walker of aviation 👍🖖
Really!!! No comparison
Jerry, this why we love you and the channel. Also thank you Gilly
This 🙌🏾
Shot of the day!
Great example of wake turbulence
No wonder there has to be a LOT of distance behind those on approach!
Wow, great to capture the down wash, very distinctive.
That’s stunning
Now that was awesome downwash 380 yeahhhh
that looked like milk poured into an espresso! amazing stuff and love the enthusiasm hahahah
Great catch Jerry 👍🏻
Watched that live Jerry, terrific catch on the power of `the king of the skies`.
Absolutely brilliant 👏
fantastic we love it
That commentary was the most British thing I have ever heard.
I thought the 380 was taxiing when it was on takeoff roll. Speed is so deceptive due to the size of the plane!
A380 😃 ✈️
That was awesome 👍
That’s a fantastic demonstration of wake vortexes & the need to hold 2 mins for smaller aircraft behind A380
That was AWESOME!
Saw it on the live, came back to see it again🙂❤️
Very cool 😊
Just stunning.
I am reminded of the time when we went to see the Lancaster Bomber Just Jane at East Kirkby. Just before they started the engines there was an announcement over the tannoy..... "will the two ladies sat on the bench directly behind the plane please move to the side as the back wash is not inconsiderble....." Lancasters, of course, have four Rolls Royce Merlin engines and they have some poke in them, when at full chat, especially at zero feet altitude.
That was spectacular!
Wow thats beautiful
Great catch 👌
That is so cool
Amazing pic!👌👌👌
Great shot!
Caution, wake turbulence, super Airbus departing 💨
Love it
The reporter has a heart for aviation. Pure enthusiasm❤
It still amazes me that those fully loaded a380s can actually get off the ground .. amazing 🤩
Excuse me clouds, wideboy coming through.
Nice to see BA's A380's back in action!
I thought he was going to taxi all the way. Fantastic capture of the vortexes (vortexes or vortices are both correct).
holy quackers i love it. Such thing doesn't always happen in Mediterranean areas. I'm so envious of Britain, Germany and surroundings.
That's what planes do.... push air down.
And that my friends, was the shot worth waiting for…. Stunning
Yeah!!
That's worth a beer. 👍
I saw it on the live show, just insane😁
A380 looks beautiful in British livery.
These things are so big they don't just look like they're barely moving, they feel like it too. When I flew out of Athens on a 380, for the entire runway I thought the pilots had opted to drive to Dubai.
WOW!!!!!😮
Cool
Unreal
Get in son!
Excellent Jerry
Nice one, just rearrange the clouds why don't ya!
I like this 😄
wow
See those wing tips rise
Bernouilli gives his explanation. And if you listen really carefully you can hear Newton say "hold my beer".
I feel like I need to go and wash up now…
What does it mean?!?!!
He split the clouds. Pesky clouds be gone!
Wingtip vortices
W
Austin powers baby yeah!
I didn’t realise that thing was trying to take off at first as it waddled along. I thought it was taxiiing. 🐖
Wake Turbulence. As a PPL flying light aircraft, both in the U.K. and USA, I have the upmost respect for spacing between my 4 seat light aircraft and ANYTHING heavier - especially if they are a LOT heavier!
Yes this proves aircraft dont need Bernoulli to fly! Newton maybe.
Does anyone else also feel that the size of engines are pretty small compared to the fuselage?
Are wake and downwash same things?
Anyone else see the face in that downwash?
Vortices…
E
❤😂❤
I been flying big jets for 31+ years. I never heard of a “downwash.” What you are actually looking at is “wingtip vortices” from the departing 380. Think of the vortices as horizontal tornadoes. No such thing as a downwash and would never be reported as such. Tower might caution turbulence from departing A380 by saying “caution turbulence from the departing A380.” You can also request 2 minutes behind the 380 before taxiing onto the runway for takeoff. BUT, no one ever says “downwash.” Come on guys, learn the lingo.
Well, NASA for example calls it downwash, so just because you haven’t heard it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downwash :)
The wing tip vortices produce a downwash of air behind the wing - www1.grc.nasa.gov/beginners-guide-to-aeronautics/downwash-effects-on-lift/
It is downwash.
Many people (pilots included) use the term downwash. Come on Steve, learn the lingo
Something's (someone's?) insane and I don't think it's the down wash.
Good vid, if you turn the sound (of the imbecilic commentary) off.
Get a life.
❤awesome ❤
These A - 380s d0n't s0 much take 0ff as set sail.
