  • Brief explanation.
    Local police helicopter (which i thought i missed but you'll see at 9:00 minutes arriving just as the A380 started to depart. This caused the A380 to abort its departure ( i presume because of the wind vortex it would create) I missed the go arounds due to concentrating on the ground movements. Birmingham Airport is mainly a one in one out Airport so for us locals this was quite an event seeing so much ground traffic go arounds etc at one time. Hope this explanation helps 👍✈👍

      @@speedbird0094 - Hey, it's a pleasure! I enjoy watching aircraft movements, and this was a particular day when things didn't quite go according to plan! Of course, your own list of aircraft types helped me considerably in my listing!
      Your photography and camera equipment are excellent, and I know it's not always easy to cover all the shots all the time, because circumstances and relative positions change.

    Regarding the Follow-Me / Ops vehicles.
    Birmingham, like most airports hosting Code F (aka Code VI) operations will have trail vehicles during taxi and takeoff. The vehicles help monitor Main Landing Gear to Pavement Edge distances and turning radius, and perform real-time inspection for damaged infrastructure (lights, signage, pavement, etc.) and debris blown onto runway by jet blast. Runway inspection typically not required following landing as only A380 inboard engines have thrust reversers.

      @@speedbird0094 We will know what happened as there will be an official report on the incident. The helo pilot is a professional and would not simply bust his ATC clearance at a major airport and barge into the runway area without a clearance.
      So either he misunderstood his clearances limit, or was erroneously so cleared by ATC.
      Or the A380 commenced T/O without a clearance (highly unlikely in my book).
      I don't think you are familiar with how aviation works if you think the helo pilot appeared to everyone's surprise because he was short of fuel. Like I said, it just does not work like that, If it did, it would lead to accidents.not mere incidents. If you were a pilot, you would know that.

      @@speedbird0094 If the helo had been a flight emergency the A380 would have been held until the helo had landed. What happened here was either an ATC screw-up or the helo pilot exceeding his ATC clearance limit and getting too close to the A380. The A380 in any case will generate no wake vortex until airborne, which would have been well beyond the helo.

      It used to be normal to spool up engines with full brakes applied then down to idle before the real thing. Accidents have happened because of a failure to use the procedure but maybe it's not common. Minor things can decide to go back and taxi out again particularly with others waiting for take off. BHX aren't new to dealing with 380s.

    Don't understand why your camera follows an airplane until it lines up on the runway to take off, and then when it's taking off, you divert back to see the next plane taxiing up. The whole point of filming these things is to see the take-offs, not the planes taxiing.

    • @speedbird0094
      @speedbird0094  Před měsícem +8

      I appreciate your comment and I'll try to explain. When this was filmed I'd only just got into filming. Birmingham Airport is usually a one in one out kind of airport. The 380, Qatar and Saudi planes had just returned after the pandemic so were my top priority and there was an unusual amount of ground traffic I basically didn't know where to point the camera. I would hope that if the same situation was to happen today I would handle it a bit different 👍✈👍

      Huh? They showed the entire fly out of the next flight after the 380 exited the runway, they just skipped the next one takeoff because the 380 was coming back up the taxiway and it wasn't a very interesting plane that was taking off at the time. They got 3 takeoffs and 4 landings.. skipping one takeoff doesn't take anything away from the awesome takeoffs that they did get.
      You make it sound like they kept missing the takeoffs.. they got the good ones, especially the 380 finally getting in the air at the end!
