How to Tie The Cali Neil. Fly for Catching Pressured Coho

  • I am prepping a trip to target some coho salmon in local river around the pnw. One of the fly that had caught my attention when it come to catching salmon that is staging and have seen a lot of flies and lures is the Cali Neil
    This is one of the variation of the Cali Neil that I tie for myself, there is a ton of way you can experiment with this pattern such as different tail, different body, no hackle or chenille as hackle and so on.

    I liked the sparseness of this fly compared to the others, you could also try slightly shorter length hackles.

      I agree and i will!! I was trying to tie in different size, this one is on a size 12 nymph hook so it is TINY compared to the usual salmon flies. Would u say size 12 is too small or would u even try size 14/16 for some low and clear water coho

      @@THFlyFishing I think size 12 is the smallest you need to go.
