A-10 with Fuel Air Bombs does a marvelous job. BUT: I think this scenario is incomplete unless you fly completely through the landing deck, dropping bombs as you go.
I did it on Ace mode. I do have the Ace of Aces mode for this mission but i have to say you need to have real balls to at least survive the first part of the mission. Trust me I managed to at least finish 3/4's of this mission on AoA with the MIG

The Aigaion's primary role is to be an aircraft carrier which means it can't be any smaller than this. I know sea carriers and airbases are far more practical but what if some day a war breaks out in central Asia and the USA lost all it's bases in the golf. Having a flying hangar could be easier than travelling all the way from a carrier in the ocean

on the flanker it is a ungided rocket pod. on the cfa-44 you can get a dlc with a mass driver or better known as a massive missile launcher. if you complete campaign on hard you can get the plane in the game with the laser.
It is quite hard to be original when there is so much expectations/requirements on how a game should be designed when attempting something like this. This can easily become a catch 22, by trying to act as much within those restraints as possible, you get blamed for being a thief, but by trying to be original and acting outside the restraints you are just as likely to be derided for not following the rules This effect is seen most heavily in sequels or high 'realism' simulations

The 2 fastest ways to destroy the airborn Fortress : You take your Typhoon and load it up with RCLs or you take the CFA 44 Nosferatu and load it up with the Micromissles.
You see there's this thing called radar which pretty much allows u to detect almost anything including carriers in the ocean. Plus if that doesn't see u then satellites in orbit will, unless you have a stealth capable helicarrier from the avengers :P
Its entirely possible, I do it all the time to get the jump on the strigons as they take off, also you can destroy some loading cranes that are on the ceiling of the hangar. One time in this mission I was going full throttle towards the agaiion in the CFA-44 (if you know what that is you know how fast it goes) and managed to just kiss the deck a little bit and take out a few turrets on the way out.
Rocket Launchers in this level is almost unfair; one solid hit can OH-KO the other 4 smaller airborne carriers. Problem is that it does make it a pain to deal with Strigons w/o QAAMs.
Having an aircraft carrier in the sky and armed with cruise missile can be very helpful you know. However maintaining it and refueling it would be very costly...
It's impractical. Money could be spent on things smaller, but more effective. Ever heard of the parable of German U-boats and Bismarck? During WWI and II the U-boats wrecked havock on Allied shipping, and their wolf-packs nearly won the Battle of the Atlantic for the Axis. But Hitler wanted a big, powerful and impressive ship to hit commerce, not small shady underwater assassins, so he commissioned the Bismarck. It was expensive, and it sunk on the first mission with little success.
I remember the good old days of the N64 star wars rogue squadron that was a real flight game. Not saying ace combat sucks but the having hundreds of missiles on ur jet does defeat the purpose of realism. If they managed to make ace combat like rogue squadron you know how awesome this game would be?

Lol I used an A-10 with rocket pods and beat the mission
I used a F-2 with LASM and beat the mission fast.
+Master Chief I used the A-10 w/ FAEB bombs. Those bombs have a explosion radius of a freakin Tactical Nuke!

When I played this mission, I found the F 18 with ECMP pods to be quite effective.
This game is more than anything HAWX can achieve.

The CFA-44 was the definition of macross missile massacre on this mission so I chose to fly the railguns

rarely but that's when i use the high g maneuver too many times (it's more consequential when you have the CFA44)

I found the best way to beat this was to use the A-10 and GBU's you could blow almost everything up if you treated it like a ground attack mission.

I did this mission with an A-10 and it took one bomb each for the mini battle ships and 7 bombs for the big one.

This is why if we ever do ariel carriers in the sky WE NEED SHIELD GENERATORS. The plane is TOO LARGE and is an EASY TARGET TO HIT

This is the SU-33. the carrier variant of the SU-27. Smaller too but reliable like the 27.
