Fun facts about this guy: (legends)
1. His lightsaber was encrusted with gems.
2. He Was able to come back as a force ghost.
3. He was able to summon the spirits of the dead to fight for him. (A force power he invented)
4. Instead of killing Jedi he encountered, he would sit them down, and explain to them how the Dark Side was the better deal.
5. He liked small animals.

Was his lightsaber crystal natural or synthetic? Is that picture actually him?
The crystal was probably synthetic, but the hilt was encrusted with gems. as for whether that picture is of vectivus, no idea.

You know, I think number 4 could be a really effective strategy. Cause imagine being taught that Sith would attempt to attack and kill you at any cost, and when you meet the one known as Darth Vectivus, he doesn’t try to kill you, he just sits down and try’s to convince you which is the better deal. It would probably mess with you a bit in the head. Cause this goes against those teachings. Making you doubt them, cause if these enemies are not as hostile as you were taught. How do you know the rest aren’t exaggerated as well?

Not gonna lie, seems like a nice way to go out.
Just straight up used the force in day to day life, and helped many people to be better off in life.
I think that’s what I would do honestly. Only used the dark side because that’s all he knew from the Dark Side Force Nexus, and the Jedi wouldn’t allow him to do this because they’d think he would turn evil and get power hungry and would try to kill him.
The Jedi order seems to not have been all that great in the end. Some Jedi Orders in the past were good and just, but the one Anakin and the 501st Clones wiped out really just sucked on many levels.

True. He was more knowledgeable of the dark side, but only because he met a Sith before he met a Jedi. That and it was a Dark Side Nexus, instead of a light one.
So yeah, more Grey Jedi or “Grey Sith” than anything else.
Unfortunately, the Jedi would still cast him out or try to kill him because they’d say that he was “an agent of the dark side” or something.
I think I’d end up like him if I could, really. Just use the force, whether light or dark, and help others and gain knowledge of my powers and the force and the galaxy.
He died technically more fulfilled than most other Jedi and Sith in the end. Friends, family, businesses that gave billions people jobs across the galaxy, and a legacy of a good man.

Not sure if it was the creators' intention, but Legends did paint the old Jedi Order as having grown stagnant and Luke's Jedi Order allowing things to start fresh. At least, that's how I saw it.

Yeah, pretty much. The order was stagnant, highly hypocritical, and truly arrogant on so many levels.
Anakin’s job as chosen one was to reset everything and fix it.
He had to destroy the old order in order for another, better one to take its place some time later down the line with Luke.
Destroyed the Jedi, then the Sith. Anakin was the Force’s way of pressing the galactic reset button.

Well yes, however Jedi have rules, and regulations to uphold. Also while they have done a lot of good for the galaxy, their being in the public eye more often unlike the sith, leaves them more unfairly viewed as corrupt by most citizens who want someone to blame for tragedy, this isn't my words either its expressed throughout Star Wars lore, at least Legends Anyway.
As a result even if they wanted to go into business, they'd not only avoid using their powers against a customer, or the market, but they'd likely not get much business anyway.

*Vectivus:* Annihilated the galactic economy by becoming the Director of a mining colony, taking absolutely no lives whatsoever.
Considering the words of Sun Tzu, by this standpoint Vectivus would've been the strongest Sith, since he won a war as efficiently as possible, meaning 0 deaths.

I like this sith, he had unimaginable power, could destroy and bring darkness to the galaxy and rule it, but no. He wanted to teach, he wanted to create something bigger then himself. To unite, that is a goal the jedi did not achieve.
well, the video didn't imply the "uniting" part. He simply wanted to learn, gain power, guide the sith (did harm passively maybe ¯\_(°-°)_/¯ ) live as a business man. He didn't actively participate in any uniting or destroying a community. Plus the video didn't told how powerful or weak he was.

@Chara That's always been canon according to Lucas though. He said himself balance did not mean dark and light being equal, as the darkside was considered the "inbalance" and cancer of the Force. Which is why every single Force user who tried to use both either turned into hermits because of their struggle to maintain their sense of self, or went full out darkside.
The "balance of the Force" is one of the most misunderstood parts of Star Wars in the entire fandom. It's nothing to do with using both sides, or there being equal Sith to Jedi, or anything like that. But the balance is another way of saying "stability", of which is the Force (also called the light) without corruption of the imbalanced and destructive darkness of what is the Darkside.
The flaw of the Jedi (at least the Odan Urr Jedi, aka the prequel type Jedi) is that they associated normal every day emotions, such as love, romance, attachment and so on with "the Darkside", when that was not true. As the earliest Jedi fully allowed relationships and all emotions, just as long as they didn't actually make use of their emotions to tap into the Darkside of the Force and its power. But the Jedi after Odan Urr became paranoid, and changed the Jedi code to ban all emotions, because they saw the allowance of them being "too risky" and too much of a temptation that could "lead to the Darkside". This ironically made them afraid of their own natural emotions, leading many of them to be unloving, apathetic, disconnected from the galaxy, and dead to the Force, and thus also easily blinded by the Darkside, as they were with Palpatine.
Though bad writing in part is to blame for this misunderstanding as well, as Lucas didn't make himself clear in the prequel movies when he first introduced the concept, but he made himself clear on what he meant in interviews and such.

You forget, Money is another form of power. Even Bane saw it as such. If one uses money as a means to an end rather than an end in and of itself, it can serve as a means of gaining influence, acquiring knowledge, and impressing and intimidating ones peers, especially if said peers are the type to see wealth and power as an end an of itself.
You do forget that conquering planets is not cheap thing to do with starships and supply, wages and so on. So Darth Vectivus teachings comes in use for any Sith.

I feel like he'd somehow be a cool dark character for a fanfilm where he, despite being chill, is attacked by jedi or dark force users who fear him, simply because of his power, like they expect him to snap or something.
Some kind of anti-hero/anti-villan thing where you don't feel bad rooting for the "bad guy" because he's actually not that bad of a guy, and the "heroes" are blind, stuck-up pricks? I could get behind that. The business of asteroid mining has enough potential for wacky hijinks that the sith powers could be shown off, but in a necessary and controlled way.

I think Darth Vectivus was the smartest Sith as he didn't seek conflict, not necessarily the wisest or cleverest Sith but definitely the smartest. IMO this man is a model to us all, he valued freedom, power and pushing himself to his limits of becoming his ultimate self, without violating the freedoms of others, nor hurting anybody, he didn't try to control others with his powers, but he used them to grant himself greater control over himself. It is difficult for Sith to live this kind of lifestyle. The Dark Side of the force is fueled by raw emotion. To get more Powerful you have to expose yourself to stronger and intense feelings.
The feelings that burn strongest in our hearts are feelings of anger and hatred. Ir is because of this, most Sith get more and more unstable over time, cruel and without compassion.
To give into your feelings but keeping control of your emotions is more the Path of the Grey Jedi. Listening how Vectivus kept his emotions in check by using is mind of buisness, keeping control of this gnawing need for more power, is in my opinion more reminiscent of a Grey edi than a full blooded Sith.

Good on you. Just remember that the standard of NO EVIL is not in this character description. Some of the most filthy of Earth's history have been surrounded by friends and family and died peaceful deaths. Evil is not just in killing people but aiding those that do providing the way for people to be neglected/destroyed. Focus on self. He sounds like a Pharaoh. Can't be innocent of evil.
So his apprentice was the one who pulled the plug, injected his IV with an air bubble, decapitated him while she slept? I'm wondering if he really existed in Bane's rule of two, or was just a rich guy who got a hold of some holocrons, called himself a Sith Lord, and the two real Sith of Bane's lineage were all too happy to leave him be in case the Jedi came sniffing around.
