Vader just went in and got the job done with passion and prejudice, but didn't hang around to monologue. I think he was part Navy SEAL. Get the job done and get out and on to the next mission.

There was no audience to manipulate in this scene. This was Sidious giving intonhis dark, twisted blood lust and showing just how psychotic and detached he really was. Plaguies trusted Sidious and was nothing but loyal to him.....a mistake Sidious was eager to take advantage of. One of the darkest scenes in all of star wars in my opinion

Blethering on about one's domination of another is a statement of both *personal insecurity* and one's overcompensation by way of *narcissism.* Witness T'Rump. But in a fantasy/drama system such as Star Warz, blethering on is a tool of exposition. It is constantly and consistently used in horror and bad guy vs good guy stories for the purpose of informing and challenging the thoughts of the audience while building their tension, suspense and emotion regarding the performance.

It would be cool to take a glimpse into the young, sociopathic Sheev Palpatine from his childhood on Naboo, to his training under Darth Plagueis, and the eventual murder of his master. I don't think they'd be able to get Ian McDiarmid to reprise his role but I'm sure another actor could certainly fill in the role of a young Palpatine.

The Rule of Two is always cyclical. The Sith Master will gain in strength, power, and cleverness until he believes himself invincible. That's the weakness of the Sith, they are consumed by their ego, their arrogance, their belief that they are superior to all things. And in their hubris, they will become blind to all threats, deluding themselves into believing that they cannot be destroyed for they are too powerful. It is at that moment that the apprentice strikes, not just because that's the best oppurtunity, but because that's when they ought to, as that's when the master is now useless to the Sith, as their confidence in their power makes them the weakest they will ever be. This is what Bane intended. He knew that the Sith were doomed to arrogance and hubris, so he created a system that their lust for power will be used to correct their weaknesses.
Plagueis deluded himself into thinking he was immortal, which allowed Sidious to kill him. Sidious deluded himself into thinking that Vader's spirit was broken and he had nothing to live for but to serve him, which prevented him from forseeing Vader's love for Luke to drive him to kill him to protect his son. Snoke deluded himself into thinking he had Kylo under his thumb like an abusive father has control of his children, so he didn't expect Kylo to suddenly grow a spine and cut him in half. And so the apprentice kills the stagnant master and grows ever stronger.

That's correct to a point. Bane wanted the apprentice to surpass the master in strength, knowledge and Dark side ability to be able to destroy the master in fair combat, ensuring the next apprentice will have an even stronger master thus making the Sith stronger. Not by deception but a true death match, like how Darth Zanna killed Bane when he was still strong with the force. He was the true and only Sith'Ari.

But what happens when the master is a bad teacher or when he is way too strong for his apprentice and too old to teach a new one? I don't think that any sith but Kreia knew about the "cycle" the force is forcing upon the Jedi and Sith (the whole "the force is everywhere and there'll always be a new sith lord", ignoring midichlorian blood biology stuff).

I believe plaguesis purposely intoxicated himself. He was much to wise to not notice his students intentions but since he knew the pain he would feel of dying that night he become intoxicated. He in a way was proud of his apprentice. The same way he knew Vader was going to kill him as he shocked Luke. He knew the balance of the force was inevitable especially if he had obtained archives

im not sure sidious had actually planned to kill him that night or if plagueis falling asleep after getting intoxicated after having not slept in years just presented a surprise opportunity. Technically him killing his master like that was against the rule of 2 and one of the things Bane was looking to avoid in creating the rule to ensure that only the strongest most capable sith inherited the full power of the dark side, though plagueis him self was also provided a surprise opportunity when he dealt the death blow to tennebruas. As his master was trying to hold up the ceiling of a cave to help them escape though plagueis also felt the force telling him to end his master, and his master was happy he did so because he had been an apprentice so long without challenging his master that he was having doubts that his apprentice was strong or bold enough to inherit the title and power of Dark Lord of the Sith. So I'm trying to remember if sidious had the same calling from the force to kill his master when he saw him asleep

His intoxication wasn’t intentional. Like the novel says, Plagueis thought he was exempt from the Rule of Two because he thought he was the final culmination of it. So he dropped his guard to celebrate what he saw as one of the final steps of thousands of years of planning and work. Ego is the downfall of EVERY Sith that lets his guard drop around his apprentice, and Plagueis learned that the hard way.

In doing so he literally unlocked ancient Sith secrets for unnatural healing and life extension that had been lost in Darth Gravid's purge of Sith knowledge 500 years prior.

Great video and point of view, but I have to disagree on why Darth Plagueis didn’t fight back when Darth Sidious attacked him. Plagueis may have been powerful enough to kill Sidious, and he may have been powerful enough to use the force to save his own body after his breathing apparatus was destroyed by the force lightning from Sidious, but I do not think he would have been powerful enough to do both at the same time. It would have taken a lot of focus for Plagueis to save himself and get to another breathing apparatus while avoiding detection of dark side power use from the Jedi, and maintaining that level of focus while fighting for your life against someone as powerful as Sidious would have been impossible. Plagueis was very intelligent and wise, and I think he knew that if he had somehow won the battle with Sidious, the Sith would have lost the entire war that had been brewing against the Jedi. While it may not be the Sith way to lay down and die without a fight, I think Plagueis KNEW he was beaten and chose not to fight back and not to hurt Sidious to keep the Sith dream of overthrowing the Jedi alive. If Sidious had force related injuries or light saber wounds and the Jedi found out, it would have been the end of Sidious and the Sith because Sidious didn’t have enough control over the republic to take on the Jedi alone without the clone army and all the power he gained bit by bit. I cannot think of any other logical reason a Sith Master would not even raise a finger to defend himself besides knowing that to do so would most likely utterly destroy the Sith and the transfer of knowledge from master to apprentice forever. That is how intelligent and wise Plagueis was. And also one of the few 100% selfless acts of any Sith Master in history I suppose. I have to hand it to James Luceno - it was a masterfully written book, but I think Plagueis chose not to fight back for the greater good of the Sith.

The rule of two was also influenced by the Sith prophecy of “the dyad” with ancient Sith stories detailing the dyad as an almost symbiotic relationship between two force beings that was a gateway to potent force powers/connection between the two that could transcend space time.

I don’t think he cared for Plagueis per say but there are many examples in the comics in which he shows respect for Plagueis posthumously, to a Level he never did with any Jedi or even his apprentices :
As emperor he would often think about how plagueis would have dealt with the trivial day to day running’s of the empire and its politics.
He also surmised that Plagueis kept some of his knowledge about immortality a secret from Palpatine. Sidious inherited all of Plagueis’s work and knowledge yet couldn’t achieve full immortality and his transference left him weak and in pain… he figured it was karma for murdering his master and that plagueis was probably getting the last laugh
He always refers to Plagueis as wise and powerful when recounting him. Even when he highlights his flaws he always seemed to show positives
The night/morning he murdered plagueis; Palpatine had a full blown anxiety attack at the thought that Plagueis would return and extract revenge.
He was the apprentice for many decades for a reason. Plagueis was evidently a great teacher and very powerful figure who Palpatine saw as a mentor and useful (he was the one that got Palpatine connected politically and Taught him the dark side after all).

Never once did I consider the murder of Plagueis to be so recent, not until the silly EU said so. Palpatine looked like he was remembering back to a far more distant past than just 15 years or so. Plaegous knew how to manipulate the midichlorians to create life. He taught his apprentice, Sheev Palpatine éverything he knew. So Sheev 'Sidious' Palpatine knew this too!
Thats how Sidious created Snoke. A force-born prodigy.
I think Sidious' physical form did die on the Deathstar, at the end of ROTJ, when Vader tossed him down that ventshaft. If not the fall, then the explosion of the superweapon killed his physical form. Yet Sidious knew how to survive in the living Force, as Jedi's did! He mentored Snoke like that? Then when he had manipulated his puppet Snoke, enough he 'withdrew' to Exogol where he took controled of a cloned body of himself and preperations of his Planet-destroyer Fleet were well underway?
Its a 'Sith Legend', we should get told sometimes: How did 'Palpatine actually somehow survive'? How did he create Snoke?
And if he was destroyed by Rey, how come he's never coming back again? Simply because his cloning facility on Exogol got destroyed? Sidious seemed to have found a pathway to immortality, just like Qui-gon Jinn did, alongside Yoda, Obi-wan Kenobi, and Anakin, at the end of ROTJ...

Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
