The "I'm Funny How" scene was improvised by Pesci. It comes from an exchange that Pesci had in his life with a real mobster. Scorsese let Pesci bring it into the scene and only Liotta was wise to it, so Pesci and Liotta could work it out. The reactions you see from the other actors are real, because the exchange was not in the script at all. It's a really good scene.

@@justmeeagainn I'm not playing like I'm an insider, that information has been around for years, so it's really common knowledge at this point. If you go to 6:53 of the video CI says, "That worries me though, how he had everybody else fooled too. Nobody knew he was joking." The point I was making is that none of the other acters around Pesci and Liotta knew what was going on, so the reactions were genuine. When CI said, “nobody knew he was joking” is exactly right; no one knew. That information is more for CI to understand how that well that scene was executed.

Dude, I have to say this. One of the reasons I think you are the BEST film reactor on CZcams is that you are one of the very few who doesn’t feel the need to talk over the scenes, crack a billion jokes and just chatter away like other reactors. You chill and just soak in the movie and appreciate the nuances, doing so in a quiet and really likeable way. And..you’re also very easy on the eyes. 😁 Cheers from Seattle Film Girl! 😎👍

'Cape Fear' is a must if you want to see De Niro play an excellent villain. Scorsese directed that one as well. There's an original to it but this one is the superior of the two regarding the acting, picture quality and cinematography IMO.

And get this. In the end Henry had the last laugh. He outlived every single one of them. And the bounty on his head was not only never collected it got rescinded due to the fact the ones involved in making it were dead. All the successors decided Henry was nothing and no need to get him. Hence why Henry did so many interviews and so many documentaries for the channel Reelz (footage used for like 3 different shows) and an ESPN 30 for 30 on a point shaving scandal involving the Boston College men’s basketball team.

Edit, to everyone who loved Goodfellas, if you haven't already, totally need to read the book the film is based on Wiseguy by Mitch Peleggi? Not 100% on his last name, been years, but really goes into the day to day life of a member of la Costra Nostra.

The other characters were based on real people: Paul Vario became Paulie Cicero; Jimmy Burke became Jimmy Conway; Thomas DeSimone became Tommy DeVito; and Ed McDonald, who played the prosecutor who talked Henry and Karen into Witness Protection -was- the actual prosecutor who talked Henry and Karen into Witness Protection.

I noticed that when you watched this movie and Raging Bull you gave fewer comments than on a lot of other reactions you've done. Like you were mesmerized by the dialog and performances. I know the feeling. I saw this movie in the theater when it came out. I was blown away. I couldn't stop thinking about it. This movie stayed with me longer than any movie I saw before it or after it. I probably went back to the theater to see it 10 more times, and have seen it nearly 100 times on video and on TV since it was released. It infiltrated my mind like no other movie I've ever seen.
And what you said about learning why and how they do things is so true. You get to not only learn but also feel the characters and their actions. It magically immerses you into their lifestyle.
    Great reaction.

Greatest amusing line of film: "He shoots him inna foot, he tells em ta go fock himself..." Always makes me chuckle. The truck driver actually mouthed "2 Italians just stole my truck", but they overdubbed that other word to better reflect what a white truck driver of the 60s woulda likelier assumed/said w/o fear of cancellation. Henry's "I'm gonna kill you in 30 secs look" when Karen had the S&W in his face was unspoken funny (it's a movie, remember). Henry as teen most def was a perfect child rep of Liotta, tho the blue contacts were visible. Tommy's line, "I worry about you sometimes, Henry, ya MAY fold under questioning!..." were no truer words spoken. Having heard real Henry Hill numerous times, it was clear that he actually did have zero compunction about goin right to the FBI after he himself Fd everything up, he always looked out for #1 only.
