  • In this video, we will show you the chateau where the infamous Butcher of Prague, Reinhard Heydrich departed from on the last day of his life. We will visit the place where the paratroopers from the Anthropoid operation have ambushed his car and will go to the church where they later hid.
Reinhard Heydrich is known as "The Butcher of Prague", "The Man with the Iron Heart", "The Blonde Beast", or "The Hangman". Heydrich was one of the highest-positioned men of SS as he was the leader of the Reich Security. Above him stood only Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler.
The Anthropoid operation was the largest achievement of the Czechoslovak resistance during WW2. Jozef Gabcik and Jan Kubis are national heroes.

Heydrich died from blood poisoning caused by the horsehair in his Mercedes upholstery entering his wounds. There have been at least 3 movie versions of Anthropoid, the two most recent were accurate in where the attack took place (Prague 8) but the 1st version, Operation Daybreak, depicted it in Radlická in Prague 5. I know this because, when the actors playing the assassins are running and cycling away, you can see the footbridge which goes from Radlická to Smíchovské Nádraží in the background.

Apparently the SOE training that Kubiš and Gabčík took stated the oposite aproach, first to stop the vehicle with the modified AT grenade and then pick of any survivors with guns. It was basically Heydrich arogance that killed him, not only did he travel in unarmored cabriolet without escort, he also ordered his driver to stop which is exactly the oposite of what you as the target should be doing.
Also, "fun" fact there was an unsucsesful hit by czechoslovak resistance group "Three kings" on Himmler in 1941, through their contacts, they put a bomb to a Berlin railway station where his train was supposed to be, but due tto delays on the track, he wasn´t there when it blew up.

Heydrich and Hitler both had a presence about them that made people feel uneasy around them, they both had a powerful aura around them. I have read accounts written by people who met Heydrich and Hitler mentioning how they both had a cold stare that seemed to penatrate staright through a person making them feel incredibly uncomfortable.

You really should wake up your ideas. At its peak, the NSDAP, (what you call "nazis") had just over 8 million members or roughly 10% of the entire population. The soldiers, sailors and airmen were not allowed to join the party and if they were members before enlisting in the Wehrmacht, they were required to resign. No one was forced to join the party but it could improve one's career options if one did. A few other points. The NSDAP was strictly a German movement. Hitler stated on several occasions that it was not for export. The NSDAP was dissolved in 1945' ergo, there are no "nazis" today, despite what you may hear on CNN or MSDNC. Hitler was not a "white supremicist"; he despised Russians and other Slavic peoples, all of whom are white, yet had high regard for Tibetans and considered East Indians to be a branch of the Aryan race. Thus, he was an Aryan supremicist. Do some research before posting silly comments and by the way, it might help if you were to learn how to capitalize proper nouns.

Krupp, Daimler Benz, BMW, Porsche, Bayer, Telefunken and the list goes on and on. As far as I know - as an history buff - the only one who faced imprisonment was Ferdinand Porsche. 6 official years. Period.

I have visited the Czechoslovakian Special Operations Memorial in Arisaig on the west coast of Scotland, where these brave men trained and are commemorated. They killed the monster that was Heydrich. The retributional executions were on a highly concentrated and horrific scale with thousands of civilians rounded up and swiftly put to death.... AND still the Concentration Camps continued their satanic work. What really changed for the better with his killing?

Who knows what he would have come up with had he lived. His death sparked hope. It was a breach in the superman myth of Germany and was widened by everyone wanting to fight it. Nazi were monsters but monsters capable of being killed and annihilated. That's what his death meant to so many.
