Sneak Peek - Dax Shepard And Jay Leno Ride In A 1994 Buick Roadmaster | Jay Leno's Garage - Zábava
Dax was sandbagging, quite the gracious guest.
Right? 8.80 I can see, but 9.50 in the 1/8? My N/A V6 Camaro can do it in 9.25! Yea the roadmaster is heavier, but it has a ton more power.
Right lol
He wants to be invited back to Jay Leno's Garage.
I’m sure jay made him do it.
I came to comments to make sure someone said it 😂 exactly what I was thinking, goes from an 8.8 to a 9.5 is a drastic change
In 1995 I was 18 years old, out of high school and I worked cleaning the cars at a local Pontiac/Buick dealership, which included keeping gas in the cars, enough so they could be taken for a test drive, not too much to waste, and I got to drive several Roadmasters. To me they were the nicest cars I have ever driven. We had one nicknamed "the Godfather". It was a dark blue Roadmaster, dark blue matching vinyl top and had factory tinted windows. I got to drive that car a few times and I loved taking that thing out on the road. It handled like a dream and that factory 5.7 would move it right along. Dax's car must be a blast to drive.
never knew dax was that down to earth...seems like a real car guy like jay..
I met Dax a little over 10 years ago when I was cast as a wedding guest in the movie When in Rome. I remember him being really down-to-earth and chatting about motorcycles with him on set. Nice to see that he grew up around cars and keeps his passion alive.
Jay's face trying to wrestle its way out of the helmet gets me every time 😂🤣
His face mushes into Anthony Hopkins
I had a 1994 roadmaster limited sedan. Blue paint and interior. Lt1 engine, factory duals. Whisper quiet exhaust. Just hear the Lubba lubba when it idles. Best car I ever drove, like driving a cloud.
I want a cloud cruiser so bad. Had a '98 STS and even that was such a joy. Cars today aren't even close. Would love to find a Roadmaster or Fleetwood Cadillac. I miss how those cars ride!
Drives like a stick of butter 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
My wife’s 9 passenger 1992 daily driver from 1996-2010 had a Buick Grand National motor in it. We did it in 2003. Cruise control, AC, kept the 700R4 trans, put a GN posi unit and 3.42 gear set in the stock wagon rear 8.5” rear.
Bone stock long block, stock tq, stock intercooler and a stock appearing upgraded turbo
4,700lbs with me in it and it ran a 12.90@106 on the 225/75/15 cheap white walls tires.
The 8th mile was a 7.9😉
It did run 12.76@105mph with bigger tires.
A 3 inch single exhaust but also a fender dump tube.
Two friends and I did the swap in my driveway-started Friday night and finished Sunday afternoon.
She used it every day and average 10 to 12,000 miles a year😉
But the amazing thing is it was a 100% bone stock long block with original head gaskets and had 211,000 miles on it The day we put it in the car. It had well over 300,000 when I sold it in 2010.

Dax should be driving “An 81 Honda!!! How dare you!”
The fastest run was 8.8 in the Estate followed by a 1 second gap to the high 9s. Methinks hijinks were in play.
ah its all in good fun
"This is an 81 Honda! How dare you!"
i love that movie. box boy
I was just waiting for him to say, "Quit bothering me, I'm baitin'!"
Our 96 year neighbor has one of these and has been the only owner. It sounds like a frickin’ spaceship taking off at NASA . 🚀🚀🚀
Dax is a real car guy!
So many posers out there that get the flashiest car but can’t identify a spark plug and have no clue about anything mechanical.
This is a sleeper, hotrodding in its purest form!
Dax gets it !
Hard not to love Dax. He has great taste and is really well spoken
Wagons are the best, I still dont understand why SUV's are more coveted, the Roadmaster rules!
Matthew Mitchell, SUV’s are bigger and taller. Also most cars and wagons are trying to be sporty and fast while SUV’s are still comfortable and relaxing to drive.
Jake Griffin are you high all the suvs want to be sporty with aggressive bumpers and sport trims, suvs don’t have anywhere the space that wagons do especially after you fold up the third row
Most people can only choose one car and an SUV (or truck) ticks more boxes than anything else.
@@luxurreview It's the exact opposite. The Acura TSX, the Volvos, the VWs, etc. All are medium performance at best paired up with an inline 4. Nothing like this Roadmaster. The only thing in a v6 is a used Venza or a $$$$$ Mercedes e class. There's very few sporty, powerful fast wagons. They aim wagons at moms when I think dads are their true market. Most Crossovers are super lifted, chunked up wagons to begin with. Lean them down and give them a strong engine and you have a good dad car.
@@luxurreview I wouldn't call the Ford Edge or any SUV smaller than a Tahoe comfortable or relaxing to drive.
1970 Vista Cruiser 455, sitting in the back watching the stars,.... when life was endearing.
That was totally a drive in movie car. Steel so you could sit on the hood and have tons of room for more
Both cars are fantastic, but man would I love to have a Station wagon like that. Always loved that rear seat in the back area where you face backwards.
Imagine sitting in the way back while he drifts the thing, awesome!
My dad bought my mom the oldsmobile rocket 88 version of that year Buick. It was a great car, a beast, it would ford streams on boy scout camping trips, it also meant that we never missed a day of school, on frigid winter days when all the neighbors cars would not start all the kids would pile into our car to go to school.
Dax is the luckiest man in the world. He's got it all; hot wife, cool toys and trash talking with Jay Leno!
John Possum wait,...Kristen Bell is hot?
@@ballsmahoney8684 Smoking hot with a great personality.
John McA if you say so....are you from the Midwest?
Balls Mahoney it’s pretty hard to argue that a woman who gets a maxim spread isn’t hot.
Ask she’s 40 and has two kids now.
John Possum , the second and third can be true , but the first one I think his wife is the one who got Dax the not that corner , only time will say , that’s my opinion
Perfect casting: Dax Shepard as Joe Exotic
This felt like a Top Gear episode.
In '06 I bought the Chevrolet Caprice version of this wagon, same engine (LT-1). That thing was scary fast - the fastest, quickest car I've owned since the '71 Cougar with a 429 I had in high school back in 1980.
Looks like someone drifted off with the left side of Dax's mustache.
roasted. don't usually vote up comments like this but you got it lol.
😝👍🏻
I just met Dax in Old Town Sac today. Such a cool guy, he was super nice and just down to earth 👍🏻
"Time to pull out all the stops, whatever that means..." It refers to playing a pipe organ. Way back when they were first used in old churches, they would test the organ, by pulling out all of the stops (each stop controlled a rank of pipes) The more stops, the larger the organ was. The pipes sound when air passes through them, so if you can imagine an old cathedral, with a big old organ, before there was electricity and modern pneumatics, each rank of pipes opened (by pulling out its stop) increased the amount of air needed for the pipes to sound. Therefore, if you "pull out all the stops" what you are really doing is seeing if the pipe organ can function wide-open. The modern reference seems to me to mean that you go all-in/give it your all/go for broke.
thanks! I didnt have to explain it myself, its what you do after you finish the postlude at a Lutheran church service, pull em all out and let it roar so Bach can hear you
Its amazing how that 572 looks small in jays Buick.
I was thinking same thing. A big block looks like a six in that engine bay.
Thanks for posting and sharing. Really fun to see!
Dax has a great take in automobiles man, that Roadmaster LT1 is sick.
Lol, this is a Roadmaster LSA though
Estate wagon LSA
Good Show! It's nice to see 2 people I like talk about cars!
This is actually one of your best videos, 2 big celebrities that are just normal gear heads!
2 big celebs? I see 1.
@@delvictor7570
Dax is 100% a big celebrity. You skynd like a hater or at least, very ignorant.
He has one of the biggest podcasts on the planet. You couldn't wrap your empty head around the size of his audience.
One of the coolest cars they've ever had on here too.
shugertits nah, him and his wife are crazy overrated. Name one good thing either of them have been in. ( rom coms don’t count obviously)
@@delvictor7570 STFU....I bet you are middle-aged and fat...😂
das 1988 that’s a weird thing to say
There was a Caprice wagon chase car in white that was used during the development of the C4 Corvette. Car and Driver magazine did a little side story on it. It had the TPI 350, 16' Corvette wheels & seats. It was cool!
I drive a 1994 Buick Roadmaster station wagon v-8 corvette engine. Still going strong after all these years. There are about eight Road masters in central New Jersey where I am. Love the car❤️
Member in the "GM Long Roof Forum" I presume?
95 lt1 wagon abused daily,straight pipes.😙
I drove my 94 roadmaster to 213k miles. I only had to do plugs , oil and brakes
Ever notice how Jay looks like the Michelin Man when he wears a helmet?
And also when he's not wearing a helmet......
He needs to drop a few
lol
I never knew this about Dax. What an awesome wagon! Love the roadmasters and wagons as a whole.
Like how the new show is less like reality TV and more like the old shows. Great Video.
True story: Jay Leno's standup act indirectly saved my life. About 20 years ago, I was THE biggest Jay Leno fan. (He even called me a stalker on the Today show!) Anyway, his standup act inspired me to buy a Buick Roadmaster. Mine was a 1992 Limited sedan. It was black with a red leather interior... and it had the best f'n horn ever installed in a motor vehicle. It wasn't exactly trouble free, but I loved that car to death. I took care of it, washed it, kept up on maintenance etc... that car was my baby. Then one fateful day in June 2006, I was pulling out of my driveway and got t-boned in the drivers' side by a Taurus doing 45 mph. The B-pillar had been pushed in about a foot, breaking 4 of my ribs and lacerating a couple of organs. I was in the hospital for about 2 weeks... but everyone who saw the accident said I probably wouldn't have survived had I been driving anything smaller. And that's how Jay Leno's standup act indirectly saved my life. :)
My mom and Dad had these wagons. Learning how to drive in these were awesome!.
I LOVE roadmasters. I couldn't think of a better car line to tour North America in. They are some of the most comfortable cars to do long distance driving in.
now this was just good clean fun with some old school cheesyness thrown in.. great content I had a smile on my face the whole time 😁
I love the chemistry between Dax and Jay. I'm a big fan of both.
I never knew Dax was this cool I knew he was a good actor I would love to hang and have a beer with both of these guys and Jay is a automotive legend I’m a huge lover of Buick’s so this was a great video all around
Check out his 2012 movie "Hit and Run"
Dax is actually a recovering addict.
@@kevinkappel8560 Yup. And Leno doesn't even drink, soooo...
Ya I didn’t know that well even if it was to just hang out with them really would be cool also
We love your videos and you have inspired our CZcams channel. Keep up the great work!
Those Roadmasters were great cars. I almost bought one. Many good ones on the used market.
My weekend get away this winter...watching this show...
Two cool dudes thanks J
Lucky Costa put his magic into that wagon.
Love the Roadmaster's!! They are Legendary
Awesome, thanks guys. J 😁
My dad had a '92 model that is a twin to this car, save for the customizations. He absolutely loved it! All his friends were buying Roadmasters and he bought the wagon because it was a few inches longer!
love this episode
This video is legendary, but honestly now he definitely gave me some ideas for this roadmaster I've been looking at
I used to drive my parents Olds station wagon with a 403 motor, yeah we had fun it.
True Automotive Fanatic.
My dad had a Buick Vista Cruiser. It wasn't fast but it was pretty nice for long family trips and camping. Though it doesn't hold a place in my heart near as much as the car he had before that; a metal flake green '55 Ford Ranch Wagon. I loved that thing.
I'm a huge fan of both Dax and Jay. Great video!
I love these two young men's enthusiam
That was fun to watch!
I really like both of these guys!
My parents had this exact 94 Buick. Same color and everything. So fun to see 😊
A 572 in that car is insane so much big block. I love it
4:50 Holy crap, I could feel that engine pull and I wasn't even in it! WOW!!!!
My Dad had that exact Buick, the wagon, for many years (he probably had a '56 as well at some point.) He sold it to a friend who had it for many years then bought another one. Great cars.
Dax Shepherd is hysterical ❣️❣️❣️😂😂😂
I wish I could sit at the line with Leno and break his chops like Dax, man that looks like fun!!! Awesome video lol
Dax... "Theres nothing like going sideways on a four lane highway..." Jay... "Let me show you something...". Actually when Jay got sideways, I was having flashbacks of him in that wheelie car that got rolled. Hence the comment from Dax... "Which way you gonna roll?" Would have been interesting to see a real race between those two.
Dax is missing a quarter of his mustache. Lol
Great video two authentic gear heads. Dax is the real deal!
Nothing beats car tomfoolery, thx Jay & Dax
Love this. Love these cars.
I had one of those, I loved it.
Dax's wife needs to drag race her late night nemesis, Geoffrey Peterson!
Man do I miss Craig Ferguson!
Balls
Snake cup
Now that was fun
Love his show with Lake Bell!
I've always been tempted by the Roadmaster. I had a '96 LT1 Impala for a decade before it got wrecked. RIP in peace!
No way he lost for real. That wagon is legit
Kenneth Rolls for real. He ran 8.80 his first run and then got over 9.5 the other runs???? He was totally being nice.
That wagon should run low 8s, maybe high or even mid 7s. Totally played it up for Jay.
Luke Wilson: Man I could really go for a Starbucks.
Dax: Yea, well I really don’t think we have time for a hand job
We live in that society today
Trash Can anytime i see that guy I think. ‘I like money’
Go away I'm batin.
He broke my tv!
Shepard’s movie hit and run is an awesome car guy comedy movie.
I'll Stick With American Graffiti, Vanishing Point, Hollywood Knights
(Who Put The Tune On? FIASCO!), 2 Lane Blacktop....
Doug Auzene Right on. I walked away from hollywood 4 years ago. I no longer watch television programs or hollywood films. I just like cars and remember that movie from college.
I always loved station wagons. I had a used 1970 Buick station wagon.
I am LOL...! Buick vs Buick....Both Sleepers
Love that wagon!!!!!!
I love my sedan 94 roadmaster lt1... with a few simple sleeper mods... smokes white for blocks. Decent wagon here in the vid, the 94-96 are something else.
Didn’t know Dax worked for GM and for that long. Would love to hear his take on the new C8.
Truly badass.
That is awesome.... down to earth that awesome
I genuinely miss having a Buick in my life. That 1982 Riviera was a wonderful boulevard cruiser.
Jay literally said it, old age and TREACHERY but youth and enthusiasm everyday. Keep up people lol
Dax is the man! Love Jays garage. Check out Jay making sure Dax doesnt crash into his sweet rides.
Love the RM!
Love this historic race between a 50s roadmaster and a mid 90s roadmaster wagon
Love it.
This was great. I don't even remember what make (I think Chevy) but I do remember the great road-trips to the Cape in our parents station wagon (as seniors in HS some fool of a parent let us take the wagon --best time of our lives). I learned to drive in my dad's big old station wagon in Boston --that was surreal! My pant's were stained a permanent brown after that learning experience --if ya' know what I mean. Lol
My aunt and uncle still have one just like this and use it occasionally! I have ridden in the very back.
I have personally passed Dax and his road master many many times. I’m pretty sure he drives it every day.
Love the trash talk!!!
This is just awesome! The "line ref" was perfect icing on the cake.
I liked drifting our old station wagon. Fun times.
I had a 94 Roadmaster V8, but it wasn't a wagon. I loved that car, even WITHOUT POWER STEERING!!! Quite the workout...
Now I have to look up what this car looks like drifting. 🤣 Thanks Dax
I would have to say the wagon is capable of more than an 8.80 even on street tires. Same goes for Jay’s Buick, although we know the tires on his were rock hard.
Would’ve like to see both runs clean with a set of slicks!
Awesome 😎
