I don't know why, but I've always loved Edsels. That Roundup is gorgeous!
Most of Edsels problems were with how they were marketed at the time, nowadays without that, they are pretty ok vintage cars.
On Hemmings there's one in Florida same color and condition.
Martha couldn't wait to get that 18th Century dish our of denim Jay's hands LOL
She really didn't trust him much with that... haha 🤓
Out*
LMAO!! I noticed that too !
You mean the "Chinet" plate?
That piece of very fragile china has made it through at least 300 years (17th century!). It's not about the money, its the stewardship.
This "home" of hers is more like a museum. Why does she still have Mrs. Ford's linens in the very cool cabinet?
Martha: ”look here is my house with....”
Jay: ”can we drive now?!!”
😁
HAHa
Jay: "in prison did they teach you how to hot wire old cars??"
@@KrustyKlown Man, you are one cruel dude. Friggin’ hilarious.
🧨 The Juan Valdez of pine needles‼️ Jay Leno’s mind is so quick and his comedic timing is still impeccable. Hilarious! And what a fantastic and informative video. The clips of the Ford Motor Company, Edsel Ford & the other content incorporated into this video make it one of the best in the “special field trip edition” category of Jay Leno’s Garage.
I never linked Jay with Martha Stewart previously, but both really are incredibly hardworking, self-made, American success stories.
Jay and Martha. They came in at the right time and made all the right choices. They are living the American dream...
Leno was never funny on the Tonight Show. Joan Rivers was right about him. However he is great educating people about classic cars.
@@baritonebynightLeno did something right as that show remained successful after Carson retired. I hear that he fixed Jerry Seinfeld's Porsche.
Jay and Martha have an easy going relationship based on mutual respect for each others accomplishments. Great video, could have watched a two hour show with these two!
Same!
I think he knew she would cut him if he didn't anything wrong.
Marthas house is insane. I love it. She is such a cool lady.
@John Doe street cred
Snoops probably growing some of that wacky tobacy in here garden
Really, two of my favorite “celebrities”. I enjoy people know what they’re talking about and say it in a quiet and concise way. That was really very enjoyable.
Agreed!
These peple live in a completely different world that most of us. It might as well be a different planet.
Well... I think Jay has an appreciation of many worlds... and is appreciated by those worlds. Not many of us can move between worlds like Jay without being hypocritical. He just seems to take it as it comes. No judgement, just being.
Not really! We are all in the same boat, or with the car buf Aficionado, we come into this world with nothing, and we leave this world with nothing !😎
Same world. Nice people btw.
Don't begrudge hard-working people their success. Neither one of them was born into wealth. They did not get their wealth through some lucky twist of fate.
Give them credit, they built it up from nothing. Unlike the orange baby.
miss those fifties colors. Now we have gray and white.
Don't forget black
Also red and vomit green!
And as Mickey Rourke said in the movie "Sin City" they all look like electric shavers.
yep
@@Mr_Fancypants Speaking of Green, isn't there some sort of cheap small Chevy or Ford in an Apple Green? EDIT: I mean a newer one, post-2016.
Ms. Stuart is still the prettiest lady that exudes class and elegance, she is funny how she reacts to Mr. Leno antics, great show Thanks.
She's a jailbird you daffy slob.
@C L Why don't you take your nap you seem stupidly upset and irritating.
S-t-e-w-a-r-t
Martha Stewart is a fraud and a hypester! She puts her name on anything from the past like gingham and Jadeite, calling them hers even though she is just recycling old products with cheap "Walmart" imitations made in China!
I used to work at an executive airport back in the early 2000’s. Martha Stewart flew in one time. Sheesh. What a b*tch! Her pilots hated her. Said she was a nightmare to deal with. That much went without saying.
OMG, I am crying with laughter. "Oh look its Chinet!"
ahahahah
Martha cares for her house the same way Jay cares for his cars.
Agreed
I think of the Honda S2000 this way. I'm merely taking care of it until the kid can then enjoy it and take of it for his kid.
She was also convicted of insider trading. Her money bought her a 6 month sentence at a private jail house/manor. I wonder what other crimes she got away with.
@@mr.zardoz3344 A questionable conviction, IMO.
@@robertromero8692 unlikely.
She sorta freaked out when Jay held her plate. She couldn't grab it from him fast enough.
Warner Robins , acting.
$182500 for them plates
hahah!
bah, the man owns more than one duesenberg he can replace the plate
They should have used a Hollywood prop and had Jay drop it.😄
Love that push button transmission. The age we live in
Thanks, but no thanks. I use my rotary dial transmission
I can only hope others can see the humor in these comments. I tip my hat to you
@@jimjones1876 Thanks

Wait
I was born in 1951.; To see that Edsel takes me back! Thanks Jay!😎👍
You know, I think that is one of the best looking Edsels I've seen. The bright color is good, but I think it's the fact that its a wagon. The wagon rear end manages to offset the Edsel nose, and make a shape that actually looks pretty good. Amazing.
It's not just a wagon, but a 2 door wagon.
Great video! Martha was such a good sport , I love how they played on each other. Beautiful piece of history all around. Thank you Mr. Leno!
This was such a fun episode to watch. Would have liked it even more if we had seen more of the Edsel!
Yes, it was too short of an episode!
@@jeffc6268 Yes,too short,but you want to see more ------- EDSEL ???
She was going to show more of the house..
Yep!
No doubt, that's one beautiful car.
The push button transmission brought back memories. My first car, a 1962 Plymouth Valiant Signet 200, had a push button transmission to go with its aluminum block 225 slant 6.
A long lasting, reliable engine.
@@senatorjosephmccarthy2720 the later cast iron block version was very durable. The aluminum block had cooling system corrosion issues. At least mine did.
i had the belvedere with the same set up.
Martha is one tough cookie! I admire her greatly!
Agreed
Jay, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d love to see a full video on the Model A!
Mr. Leno you are an institution for the living auto enthusiast. Thank You!
I can't believe Martha is almost 80 years old. She looks great.
She can still get it , #no_shame
I know time flies last 10 years were just a blip.
I just looked it up she was born in 1941. So yeah you are about right.
Good old fillers, called botox, and some underage children's blood.
Androchrome.
This is the weirdest video I’ve ever seen. “We have to scrape up the gravel and store it for the winter.”
“We have to go to another part of the state to sprinkle the pine needles for the walkway.”
Regarding the rules governing that house, there's a fine line between 'well-appointed and properly accessorized' and good ol' fashion OCD.
hahahah
I lived and worked in Maine for three years as an RN. Hands down the best state in this country. Definitely the nicest people - friendly, independent, and very hard - working.
She's still gorgeous, even at 79!!
wow, she looks 20-30 years younger
Any idea if Martha Stewart drinks High Quality Green Tea a lot? I'm not going to say that's the only reason, but I'm curious.
I had to google it to make sure 79 wasn't fake news. The age we live in. Sorry I doubted you.
Pretty sure this was filmed some years ago
Yes that Edsel will still look gorgeous at 79.
Well sure...who doesn't wash their gravel.
"Hand Washed" gravel.
Every day I wash my gravel just to tidy up the place. :)
Washing it's the easy part. Hanging each little stone on the clothes line to dry is a PITA.
@@frankburns8871 lol I know of people who wash their grass. This was a repear.
I would like to see the back story on how they maintain the gravel. There has to be some type of machinery involved. I wonder how much it cost per year just for the general upkeep and mantanice on a place like this.
Jay had kind of a Joe Rogan moment asking about Martha's car experience?
LOL
I know a lawyer with an Edsal wagon almost exactly like that. I'm shocked you didn't show us the fishing pole holder behind the tail lights. You open up the tail lights and a trough would slide out and you could put a few fishing poles in it.. I think his is more of a lighter pink color, it's been 25 years. He kept it in a heated garage and it was like brand new then and I'm sure it's still around.
Came on here for a boost of positivity - and I found it! 👌🏼🏁
I grew up in a 59' Edsel Corsair. It was a fine automobile. It was possibly the smoothest riding car I've ever been in.
She remains is a fantastic lady-bravo Martha and cheers to your success! Thanks Jay!
They have a level of grace and dignity that is all too rare nowadays.
That's a beautiful place. Kudos to Stewart for appreciating the past and preserving it.
She didn't let Jay handle those dishes for very long!! LOL! I really could not think of a better person to have that house and contents. The car is in fantastic condition as well. I respect Martha greatly.
I love how you can keep social distance in an American car!
Joe Horn typical liberal
There's nothing social about distancing.
Is not difficult to keep social distance from an old snake called Martha, you would rather be in Siberia doing hard labour.
Truly!
Wow props to Martha!! She has kept it a time capsule for future generations. Very awesome!!
Just like the Edsel house. Or Jay's cars...
Not mentioned: The Model K he drives to her house in is from the Seal Cove Auto Museum which is also on Mount Desert Island. It is an amazing collection of vehicles from the dawn of the horseless buggy to the 40s. I wish he had at last given them a shout and a shot of the collection. Or even a fuul frame of the decal on the hood.
Martha is an icon for sure. Thx Jay. Next time more Edsel
What was funny for me was her saying the pine needles came from another part of Maine. She is so right, like just down the road. Even though her property is mainly spruce, one is never very far from pine trees in Maine, which is the pine tree state. Within 1 hour I could deliver a load of pine needles to her estate and I didn't even collect the pine needles yet.
First car I ever drove was my mom's 1958 Edsel Pacer sedan. Love that two-door wagon.
Fascinating short video. Love old cars and old homes too.
What an amazing house. What a cool car. What wonderful passengers
I have to get one of those for my linens... LOL 😂 Jay's humor is amazing
I liked the meatball on the plate better
Makes me think of my late friend whose favorite car was an Edsel. I even went to an convention with him one time.
Was it Mel Blanc, of Warner Brothers cartoon fame, who owned nothing but Edsels after they came out---or was it his son, Noel? There are a lot of guys who love 'em. (I remember a newspaper humorist who commented, "Ford's new Edsel gives pedestrians the delightful feeling they're about to be kissed.")
The updated models in 1960 were fantastic. The Ranger was based on the Ford Starliner and I absolutely love it
I love the novelty idea of a "Martha Stewart trim level" 😅 definitely has to be a notch about a touring car lol, more flowers
One of your best episodes ever! Loved it. Thanks Jay 👍🏻
Poor jay has to look round a house when he's dying to look around the car
Considering it was Edsel Ford's house though he may have legitimately been interested
ahahahah!
I don't think he is the domestic House Guy type.
@@pandab34rYT nah most of the time when a man is a higher up at a company it is really the wife's house. Especially in those days.
@@pianofry1138 I'm not so sure I even know what the hell your saying?
God I love classic American cars
What an amazing house and car. I guess she earned it and I'm glad she's the caretaker of that house and car. She's got the cake to take care of them the way they need to be taken care of.
I’ve never felt so poor after watching this video.
Lol forget the $40M or $50M or who knows how expensive car in the background of every one of his videos, a fancy plate and clean gravel is the real bourgeoisie icon
Google her net worth, youl feel even poorer
You can't take it with you. Think about their last ten years in the old people's home with an aid who can't speak english....better to have little when you get there.
No need, she will have 10 by 10 feet in the ground just like the rest. She can't take anything with her.
Hahahah
This was such enjoyable video, watching these two fabulous souls enjoy each other's company. Bravo.
I absolutely love Edsels and Love the Roundup.
Martha just amazes me at every turn. Would not have expected her to be a car nerd in any capacity.
Martha is a legend. Thanks Jay!
What wonderful memories visiting Martha Stewart's home evoked. I would enjoy a two hour version of your visit.
Very cool! I have actually driven a ‘58 Edsel with the push buttons before.
My father had an Edsel Corsair, I don't remember the year (1959?). I loved and still love that car. It was so far ahead of its time. The only problem he had with it was with the mechanics at the dealer's garage. For whatever reason (a five-year-old would not have known) they screwed up an oil change and the transmission was trashed. My father then decided to put a much bigger engine in it, at the dealer's expense. It was a Jag killer. It came in green and white paint. I remember him asking me if I liked the car; I said I hated the color. The car was repainted in solid black. It never failed to start (unlike his Buicks) and never failed to run (unlike his Chryslers). Wish I had it today. The car is long gone (lost in a street racing accident after he sold it), but I found the spare key many years ago, and still keep it on my keychain.
Thanks jay. It’s great you continued through the pandemic. Your passion for cars is infectious. I love the variety
6:59
Jay Leno: You were the good girl.
Martha Stewart: *laughs in insider trading*
hahahah
Not a fan of Martha Stewart but you probably couldn’t find a better person to take care of that house. Thank you for sharing that with us. Very cool
Very diplomatic comment...chapeau.
I love seeing jay leno go full granpa when he hops in the car and does the classic squinty eye'd head tilt back to see the road
Well, that's a side of Martha I've never seen before. Cool
I would wash my gravel too, but I'm fresh out of Ming vases to store it in over winter. Thanks anyway Jay, it's a tough job but someone has to do it. 🤣👍
Martha: I'm not a rabid feminist.
Jay: ...thank you, sweetheart.
Brilliant!
He’s an old man from an Italian family ... he didn’t mean anything demeaning by it.
Now that's a comment, you can be proud of 😁
LOL
Jay's wife is a dedicated women's rights advocate...
Watched it on FB last week
That's a beautiful Edsel
Jay has become so famous he doesn't even need to open his eyes anymore when he drives... all thing just automatically move out of his way 😂
the camera car is infront of him.
Jay - "We can see the laundry room later" . Jay you sly devil ;)
A late acquaintance of mine used to own 36 Edsels and had a dealership sign in his front yard.
It's good to know people take the time to take the scenic route. It's really the only way to go.
Love this! Just wish it was longer. The car is definitely cool, but I was hoping to see the laundry room (and the rest of the house)! Only Martha Stewart would NOT find the pink granite and pine needles as a deal breaker.
LOVE the Wagon.
I of course collect up my driveway peastones every fall, wash them and store them 😂 fantastic episode 👍☮️🇺🇲
You two are great together, loved it!!! Jay is so witty.
that paint color holy hell beautiful
Thanks for doing these videos I look forward to seeing it every week.
I never would've guessed she was a bit of a gear-head. '58 Edsel even. Pretty cool. Nice house, too!
Wonderful, fun episode. Thank you, Jay and Martha.
I would love to see what Martha could do with car interiors
Ah hell no
What's not to love? She's a classic great lady!
My two favorite people in one episode! 🤩🤩
GREAT feature edition of the show!
As the late Clive James said: "If a car is supposed to be a penis substitute, why does the Edsel remind you of your mother?" AKA "questionable design elements."
And: "The Edsel the car that makes you ask not why did Henry Ford name the car after his eldest Son, but why he named his eldest Son Edsel?"
Did Henry Ford really name the car, though? He died about 10 years before it was released. I guess that second quote's just a joke, though?
Someone had to ask this.
His "eldest son"? He was his "only son". Dingus
C'mon... Martha Stewart is 79 years old... 79! Even if she's had a facelift... she looks amazing, still has very good posture and moves like she's years younger.
She is still a very beautiful lady! I did not think she looked 79.
She's what!!??
She was 78 at the time of the interview, that is like....totally different.
She looks great I'd say 60 if that
Fantastic! Thanks.
Wonderful program. I lived through the Model A and Edsel ages and now have a better appreciation of the Edsel.
Back in the seventies my friend traded a 60 Chevy truck for a 58 Edsel Citation complete with typewriter transmission!!
Now I'd be glad to have either one.
My friend bought a Dodge 440 with typewriter transmission in dash
@2killMEuHAVE2dieWITHme I'm not lying!!
If he had kept the pickup he could still be riding in it.
@ebut uoykcuf that's cool, I bet that was a fun project!!
I fing love the contrast between Jay in his "Canadian Tuxedo" all-denim outfit which he probably used many times while fixing his cars vs Martha Stewart and her "handwashed gravel" lifestyle. Truly they live in different worlds but it is hilarious.
Also, 1958 I *know* is Jay's favorite American car year due to all that chrome /s
Among the best and most interesting episodes. Well done!
It's so funny that Jay is wearing the same outfit he seems to wear every day in the garage. For as rich as both he and Martha are, they're both self-made and still seem pretty grounded.
You gotta be grounded to wash all that gravel.
I think a Martha Stewart mini van or crossover would sell well
Even if it's just a trim level like Eddie Bauer
If Martha can improve the blobs on the roads today, more power to her.
I could definitely see a Ford Escape Martha Stewart edition lol.
@@corionh4775 Nah she needs to put her name on something with some street cred. Like an Escalade, Expedition, Charger/Challenger or Nissan Maxima. But if you know someone inside the manufacturer you can get it cheaper than retail before it's released.
@@chesspiece81 Sorry but pretty sure a Ford Escape has more street cred than a Nissan Maxima.
So we’re not gonna do anything about the fact that she took his house and his car?😤

Thank you !
I love Martha. She is such a kind soul.
as you can see by jay Leno's variety of clothes he is very interested in linen and dishware
Yeah, he's your basic, extended pinky, tea drinker. A refined gentleman who owns a McLaren F1 and P1, and would never consider taking them over the speed limit.
Beautiful home, beautiful car, and a beautiful woman. I'm in love.
Again another vantastic video from Jay Leno. What a great way to start my day ! Thank you ...Gregg Savage
I love the chemistry between these two. Martha would be baking soda and Jay would be vinegar.
Oh God can'get the image out of my head Jay and Martha having sex in a Ford Edsel, God help!
