Dax Shepard’s Souped Up 1994 Buick Roadmaster | CONAN on TBS
/ teamcoco - Komedie
Wrong audience.... these people have no idea what he did
Completely agree, the only person that remotely understands is Conan.
As the owner of a 96 Roadmaster wagon, I can confirm everything Dax said about these cars. They're rockets for the whole family.
Most of the 1994 - 1996 Buick Roadmaster models* had a Corvette LT1 engine in them from stock. They weren't slouches even from the factory, and they're the last of the 20th century *American style wagons.* Meaning, in stock form, they're _so_ comfortable to drive in behind the wheel - when you get out of the car after a long drive, you'll likely be relaxed and refreshed. I own a 1990 Grand Marquis, which did the same thing to me once - I felt like I woke up from a relaxing nap once I got out after driving maybe 200 miles that day. One other day, I slept funny and couldn't walk right because my back muscles were all so tight, then I drove my Wagon for 55 miles, and I got out without any problems. I'm not so sure how much the Wagon deserves credit for that example, but it's just a whole other world of driving comfort with these old cars.
* The 1994 Roadmaster models did have a smaller engine available, which is why I said "most."
Gas?

Dude, knows his American cars with a flair of fun. The kids waving is pure Americana.
nihl hinz we did it too in Australia, great memories of growing up in a large family and the station wagon lol
rustmaster here in NE with scabby rust and holes after 5 yrs or so
Talk about a tank, and dependable, awesome
Surprisingly those BBS wheels works well with the wood paneling.
FireLordCanti I know, I never would have thought about that but it looks really good
Exactly what I was thinking 🤔🤣
FireLordCanti looks clean af 🧼 that and the paint is perfect alongside the tint.
Growing up I wanted to make a “sleeper” have a car that looks like junk but is nascar under the hood! Love Dax’s mind!
Late to your comment but I always wanted a sleeper too ! Finally after 25 years I bought and s10 and took the stock engine out & put one that makes 3 times the power ! Mine Looks like a grandpa truck all stock on the outside
This guy has taste in cars.. Roadmaster is an American classic.
Makes me happy considering every other celebrity says they like cars but only own brand new cars
Check out his movie hit and run.. the Lincoln Continental he drove is bad ass!
Think of Christmas Vacation is it that one?
You should look up his Lincoln, it's even more badass than the Roadmaster.
@@Serps-ii9zc I will..thx and by the way happy Thanksgiving.
Roadmaster's are actually super f-in sick, jealous of that car actually..

Man yeah it was already fast with the LT1...now 0-60 in 4 seconds lmao. Reminds me of the supercharged Volvo. Sleeper.
I’ve got one of these! Definitely best of luck in finding one

Gosh I love dax
This is the best interview I've seen in a long time.
Been hibernating?
Dax and Kristen are like the parents I wish I had. Great couple and great parents.
Most people In the audience are thinking I have no idea what he’s talking about. LS what??? 😂
An LS motor is a corvette engine - pulls like a bat out of hell. The posi Trac is a type of limited slip differential for the gears in his car that allows the wheels to grip better on the road, in mud, and in snow. The stainless steel dual exhaust is an exhaust that either sounds cool or just looks cool - idk I'd have to see and hear it to see what Dax likes about it.
@@errhka I don't think he needed you to explain it to him. He just pointed out that most of the audience was clueless about it.
@@errhka I DO know a lot about that stuff and for me, stainless steel any kind of exhaust is exhaust that will never rust.
@@tinman5322 I have stainless steel on my jeep and it looks terrible after 3 years - heat and water will always work its magic unfortunately :(
@@errhka I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree. Test it with a magnet; if it sticks there is iron content. Even 400 series stainless (typically what dining utensils are made of) is still magnetic but highly rust resistant. You likely have "aluminized" steel, I'm not as knowledgeable about that but it looks great when new and does outlast plain steel. If you paid extra for stainless I'm afraid you've been taken advantage of.
Why is no one addressing the matching family denim suits?
Why is no one mentioning his terrible plastic surgery?
I thought of Ghostbusters :-)

A gift from Jay Leno?
I thought Conan was gonna talk about the Taurus SHO again.
He calls it, "The Ranch".
@jared price Mustang Fox body
@jared price They still made Country Squires until 91, though. It's a slow reliable Fuel Injected Ford 302 but since we're kinda on subject of Station Wagons here... (And yes, the design goes back to the 70s.)
Azrial Alaria Me too:( I love that car.
Azrial Alaria yes, a green 92 with a sunroof, and a 5-speed. I had one just like that.
Dax Shephard never plays a character, hes always just Dax Shephard
Not quite. He brings just enough of himself to his rolls and still makes them unique!
@Michael L I like money.
I dono. Havent liked anything hes done for years now
merickful his fat rolls? Cause he has none. Now ROLES on the other hand...
So, an entitled Hollywood Liberal carbon hypocrite.
There's that Lucky Costa magic in the Roadmaster.

Yes lucky is a beast
I loved Dax in Employee of the Month. He was car head in that movie too lol
“This is an '81 Honda! How dare you!”
Note: putting your kids in a rear facing station wagon seat builds character! 😂😂😂
This guy did what I always dreamed and the audience has no clue what he's talking about, but think it's funny.
I don't get it haha
I know right.
It’s a sleeper car. Car that looks slow but would smoke whoever it pulls up next too lol. It’s basically trolling in the car world.
With gold bbs rs wheels to top it off. I did the same with a lexus is 300.
I love that he hooked up a sleeper.
The LT-1 is no slouch to begin with.
You damn right!
Lt1's are great engines.....it was just the black sheep of the family between the small block and the Ls
An LT1 currently powers the quickest manual GM car in the world in the 1/4 mile. And it’s an lt1 from the 90’s, not the new lt1.
@@zachdupuy6945 🍻
Johnathan Atkins ran 7.30 the other day with the Lt1.....it was running 7.60's but it was mowing through the clutch, finally got it to 60' and it ran 7.30 at 196
I had a caprice wagon just like that tinted windows, exhaust and big wheels on it. That Roadmaster is super sweet
Rear facing seat in station wagon. My brother used to hold up signs for the drivers behind us. "HELP" was a popular one.
Only few of us can relate to these luxurious stories of stationwagonhood.
Even though I don't understand much of anything, I could listen to Dax talk about cars forever
@Roger Dodger powerful idk if I'd call it fast tho
Kristen looking at it like, Dax...YA BASIC
“Feeding souls of natives” lmfao
Dax: "It came with an LT1(gen 2), I pulled that out and put an LSA in it."
Conan "So you put a V8 in it."
Wow he put a blower on it........
CarlTone Garage omg! I just wrote that! You put a VEE EIGHT in it...... as if to stun the audience. It HAD a v8. He replaced it with a v8. Albeit a much better one!! He should be talking to Jay Leno for the appropriate response.
😂😂😂
6 miles to the gallon!
Conan would be much better than Jay Leno at reviewing cars, just like clueless gamer, he could be like the original Top Gear funny. They should make his Taurus SHO into a top drift car or something.
There is a reason people love Dax Shepherd. He is just himself, a true original, is all about fun, never takes himself too seriously. Life should be a fun journey and Dax knows that. He is a true A Lister now.
This car is badass. I had one. I had to sell it. I’m still sad to this day
Dax doesnt get enough credit for how funny and genuine he is dude.
BBQMcAwesome sure he does, he has Kristen Bell...that’s all the credit you need.
Yeah so genuine he has to get plastic surgery to appear more genuine.......that adds up right?
@@joshrambo8977 Joan Rivers was also Genuine and look at her.

Shut up Meg
1964 - 1972 models, oh yeah; nice roof to look through on road trips. Too bad the 73 - 77 models don't live up to their name in the same way, they have a vista roof but only for the front seat instead of for all the rear seats.
Dax's face is freaking me the eff out! i can't stop staring at it😶😶😶😶
Too much makeup and or the lighting? Maybe he's just reptillian..lol
I was seriously not expecting LS swaps in a Conan show.
hojnikb that’s what’s beautiful about LS engines.
hojnikb audiences heads are spinning trying to figure out what an LS is. Lol
They came with the LT1 5.7 V8 units originally, they were sleepers from the start. Buick also had the supercharged V6 Regal. They had some sleepers in the 90s.
Dax Shepard always has some insane build. I remember his 60s continental he did a manual tranny conversion on, along with an otherworldly engine swap/tune.
You know what they say. Given enough time, ls swaps will happen
He knows about cars is swap the world lol my fav actor
My parents had the rear facing one too, and when you roll down back, back window the exhaust would suck right into the car! Then the top rack flew off on the freeway! Good times 😂
Lori Minick 😄
Lori Minick lmfaooo!!
That Buick Road Master is Hella clean. I'd drive it any and everywhere.
God I did the same thing when I was a kid, staring out the back window waving at the people behind us in my parents old station wagon.
WITH NO SEATBELTS ON! LOLOL
I did too . if they didn't wave back i flipped them off. Which in hindsight had to be adorable . little 7 year old flipping people off from the back seat of a station wagon
We used to throw s*** out the window that's how bad we were
I love how much Andy loved that he souped up a station wagon. You really know when Andy thinks something is funny.
We had the station wagon thing as kids, we would write a 'Help me' sign and press it to the window silent screaming.
Sonja Dawn ditto lmao
Too funny,
lol same. My dad had one and we were the other kids of his so we were the ones in the back. Try that sign today and you'd be surrounded by swat and be lucky if they didn't shoot you or the family dog. So sad what we have become.
every time I think I couldn't love this guy more than I already do...he proves me wrong..
That car looks badass just wish I could see what the inside looks like
OIF/OEF-0341 oh sweet thanks for the info I’ll check it out
The drivetrain is great, the interior is crap except for the seats.
It's a living room on wheels. My granddad had the regular 4 door version, seats where the most comfortable overstuffed couches you could sit on!
I was unsure of Dax being a "Hollywood type" I stand corrected He is a super bad ass now!!!!
People love this guy because he is himself. He has personality and is an original. True A-Lister.
class act.
Kristen and the kids are lookin at it. What is this?
We had a 1990 Chevy celebrity station wagon, it was handed down to me in 95 when I was in high school. I went to a school that was predominantly wealthy. Everyone had BMW’s, Camaro’s, Supras, jacked up trucks. Everyone loved my car because I could fit so many people in it ( everyone loves the 3rd row, facing traffic, back seat) when sneaking off campus for lunch.
BBS rims with a LSA motor, in an big body wagon.....HELL YEAH!!! Old school ride with todays muscle under the hood.
He made a homemade AMG Wagon
Seriously, I have heard those are the best driving cars. They have a following. Station wagons are in right now in the collector car world.
Built on the B body platform, the same as the Chevrolet Caprice, and Cadillac Fleetwood, they are indeed one of the best driving cars of all time. It's no coincidence the 9c1 Caprice still holds the Michigan State Highway Patrol record for patrol car testing. Big and comfy, yet extremely surprising in how nimble they are.
They truly are I've had 2. Because the first got stolen.
I have that same car, same color combo. Mine is stock though other than American Racing Torque Thrust wheels and flowmaster mufflers. Great car. You're basically sitting on a comfortable couch while driving.
Truth. If you want something relatively cheap that's comfortable on its stock wheels, here's your "boat."
Now that is one low-key badass cool everyman family man and his choice of car is proof of that. :)
You can't stand out on this BS society didn't you hear how they laugh when he said the name if the car.🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Love the Roadmaster. My uncle currently has two Buick Roadmasters Estate Wagons. One with the LT1 engine that he keeps garaged and the other L05 engine that he uses for a daily driver. He drives the wheels off that one. An Supercharged LS would be awesome. Great Video. Dax is awesome.
We had similar station wagon we grew up with. Love sitting in rear facing seats (3rd seats) hands down! Disappointed that they don’t make those anymore when I was raising my son. He would have loved it, definitely!
Dax Shepard is literally just a car guy that also happens to be a movie star sometimes.
Dax Sheppard looks like 2018s grinch
Such great chemistry! Cracked me up!!! Good old days back then! Love it!!!
The ultimate Dax car guy movie is Hit n Run (2012). Hilarious.

I'm super loving Team Coco uploading what I'm assuming are his guests first times on Conan's show right before the new episodes they are on.
Real man right here would rather have an old station wagon than a bland lambo
I long for a future where wooden paneling makes a comeback. I won't be satisfied until wooden paneled phones become the default option.
Dude I'm a carpenter and right now we are storing planks of wood because certain species are extremely rare right now so in 20 years you won't be able to find planks of it

The LSA supercharged LS probably gets no worse fuel economy than the old LT1.
Possibly better, considering that the LT1 had an electronically controlled carburetor. At least the LS is fuel injected.

Whoa, he did something to his face. It's freaky.
at first i thought some kind of injection to the bone cheek but now after watching the entire clip, looks like some major work was done. Why do this? Looks kind of mental now, like Fire Marshall Bill.
@BrutalJuice I don't think it's just ageing. I think he got some work done meaning plastic surgery.
@@andrewacosta8084 He doesn't have any fat left in his cheeks. He's lost quite a bit of weight which will make you look like this, i.e. pronounced cheek bones. Not plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is adding filler back to your face, not the other way around. It's easy to say "oh he had plastic surgery" because he's in Hollywood, but it's just not the case here.
