This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. czcams.com/users/postUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.
Holy wow! Never thought you could do this with porcelain tile. Those are some *gorgeous* clean lines. Thanks so much for the video
Miter vs. Bevel. Nobody seems to care anymore. Carry on.
truth..
If I watch this 2 more times I'm going to feel real confident about doing the tiling my self.
Nice to see someone actually knows how to do it right. Even cleaning thinnest before it dries from the joints.
Thank you sir!👊
Don"t forget to slope the bottom of the Niche! you do Not want water pooling up in your niche.
Thanks for this video. I am about to tile my shower with a niche. So far all I have seen is the Schluter edge method of niche finishing. This looks so much better and way better than what I was going to do.
I have to say wow I am bowing down to you that is smooth I love it it's tight that's what I want to do so I'mma go ahead and get me a couple of pieces of tile and practicing my cutting cuz I'm a start on my bathroom you really inspired me thank you thank you thank you
Awesome idea, I think or I wouldn't have done it 8 years ago. I also did it on the two columns and the curb.
You sir are the best tile installer I have ever seen! Great job man!👍🏻
Thanks! appreciate the nice comment and thanks for watching my video
Great job man! It's the only right way to trim the niche if you have the large format stone like tile.
Awesome job dude. I just spent an hour today working on a niche using rondec
Thanks man! Rondec profile can be a pain sometimes! 👊
watched a few videos on this topic - this is the best
I just keep going back and watching this episode till I get my mitering down lol. Thanks for the tips and tricks my friend🤙🏽💯🤙🏽
Thanks! I make it look easy with the editing. It is a pain in the butt! 👊
Excellent video
I have one quick question. I saw where u offset mitre by 1/16 to protect from chipping. I could not tell if you included offset on mating piece
The reason I ask if so then would pieces no longer be planer?
Great work and video, thank you. I have a De Walt d24000 being delivered today. I subscribed to your channel and I can see I have a lot more to learn than I thought.
Thanks! and good for you on your new Dewalt saw, it's a beast! 👊
Muito bom!! Very good!!
Gostei do seu canal sou Azulejista aqui no Brasil e também uso os clipes e Cunha de nivelamento!
Thanks for your everyday tip . God bless
Super clean
Very helpful! Didn't know they made diamond hand pad, 60 grit. Thanks for the nugget!
MAESTRO !
THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE..
Cool!!!
I’m doing my ones with LED lights
By introducing the light into a 3/4 clear tube. Getting power from the high hat that is already above the shower.
Excellent fixing of tiles
So happy that i found you great job
Happy Thanksgiving, great video. I'm going to give if a try. Thanks
Great I love your video's. Keep up the good work!
🙏😎
Definitely custom work that looks great, however those leading edges are very susceptible to chipping. Schlüter also gives a clean look with more durable edge.
preference. some people hate schluter.
Excellent!
Awesome thanks for the time. Keep it up great idea i never thought of it even though i do trim. Guess when i get into tile i didnt think to apply it to everything.
thanks ! 👊😎
This style is getting to be very popular. Does look clean.
thank you sir
Love from India ! ♥️
Love the video I was planning on the bottom tile after I do the left and the right, I thought it would make it easier to pitch it towards the outside edge
Looks pretty slick, I’ll have to give this a try
Yes sir! 👊😎
Superbly done.
Thanks buddy! 👊
Like always great job!
Thank you sir for the view and comment!
Really beautiful work. Not many people understand how difficult it is to get a niche to line up on a tile line in the wall. Definitely lots of math there. I’m a career remodeler who does a lot of tile and continually have to have discussions with general contractors who don’t understand tile. They almost never have the framing anywhere near straight enough and tell me to just “float” the tile over the bad areas. I actually had one tell me to stuff some folded up cardboard behind the tile. Once again, beautiful layout and execution.
Thank you sir! 🙏
You’re amazing Brother
Thank you for the kind words! 👊
, it's beautiful bro
Thank you for the knowledge
Starrtile mentioned you on a video I watched and said you did great miter cuts, not disappointed, thanks !!
I love starr tile ! Been watchimg him for over 3 years!
Landberg Tile DIY TV oh god!!! Don’t tell me you don’t believe in the fairy tale know as the pre slope either???
@@renaissancemen1 lol
I do many of my showers like this nowadays, simply because quarter round trim is increasingly becoming less available and because I cannot stand the plastic/metal trim pieces. Nice job brotha!
I've watched this 3 times already 😂 good deal my man.
Did not know MTV had a tiling show- will not be back and thanks
Great Job 👏
That was a serious blob of mortar to the underside of the niche top piece. I mortar another layer of kerdi board (or whatever you use) then tile. I usually use edge trim but I'm inspired to try this.
well done great tutorials
Thank you sir! 👊
Very cool
I'll take mitered over metal anytime! Thanks for the how-to.
Another level handy worker...👌👌👌👍👍👍
👊👊👊
thanks great cuts,
Awesome video like the idea
Thank you sir! 👊
Fantastic. Thank you!
🙏
thank you great video
Very nice !!!
Good job brother
Super cool!
Thanks!
I subbed! thank you for the vid!
Thanks for the watch and the sub! Appreciate it brother!
Nice. Might try this out soon.
It's a super clean look! 👊
Nice another sweet video! I'm literally about to start tiling a niche with this size tile. I have a miter saw, gonna get the blade and give this a crack. 👍
Do you have any videos for prepping a wall greater than 2 meters in length?
You are goooood
cool! thx
It is a seamless joint!
you professional
Thanks :)
yes sir 👊
Really well done. I'm gonna' get me some of those little clip do-dads.
I saw the same question. How tight do you make the miters? A 1/16 so you can grout them or paper tight and no grout?
Ooooooh. Daz nice
Thank you sir, for great videos. Doing my shower and mostly done, I used a schluter trim around a window, however wife no too impressed about it. May I ask for a suggestion to use a bullnose type over the trim and around the window that I install over the tile already set? If that is even possible and not look silly. Thank you in advance
Ok, nice work. Soooooo where'd you get that hat!!! I like it almost as much as the video.
Would have loved to see how you measure and calculate the overhang
Great idea & great demo ;-)
You're the man, thanks! 👊
Landberg Tile DIY TV what sponge were you using?
IM IN LOVE!!! FANTASTIC job!! Two questions. Do you suggest tiling the wall first & finishing the niche at the end or doing the niche first or finally just doing it as you go? Secondly, How do you know how much of a edge to leave to butt up against the tile on the niche?
Tile the back wall first and then til the inside/perimeter of the niche last. Also, measure the tile and add more for thinset. Thanks for watching! 👊
Great demonstration. I'll bet passers by were wondering what you were doing though!
Yes they were! Thanks for the view and comment. 👊
Болгаркой попробуй под 45 гр. так обрезать)
Badass fuckin videos I’m a home remodeler and I’m starting to use your tips and tricks and I’m about to start using the self leveling system you use
Hi from uk,great videos you do, I would like to see you do a video on mitred corners where you are notching out the tile instead of the niche being exact tile height, thanks.
Great idea, will do!
Maybe now you should be sending me one of those t-shirts as a freebie for the idea.
good job partner
Thank you sir! 👊
Fabulous. Do you also do marble or porcelain mitered shelves for kitchens?
Bravoo
Big props. Your channel is awesome.
Question. I am getting ready to tile my shower and niche. I am trying to keep it very clean looking. When I run these mitres around the niche and the curb, do I fit them tight or keep the same 1/16” grout spacing as the rest of the tile job?
Thanks in advance for the help.
I also was wondering this as well. Do I leave a space for grout or do I just make it as tight as possible.
@@FeroxWJB kept them tight.
@@Craigjordan121 Isn't there a danger of it leaking if there's no grout in between the miter cuts?
@@FeroxWJB no, I’m no expert but grout isn’t meant to waterproof things. I haven’t had any issues. I think it’s more of an aesthetic thing. I coated my entire shower with waterproofing prior to laying any tiles.
I can not believe you built that just for demo purposes. THANK YOU. Love your suggestions. Can you tell me what mortar you used with the porcelain tile and what size trowel. Could you do a video on trimming out a stainless kitchen sink with schlueter edge trim? Thanks again. p.s. very well done.
I used Versa Bond mortar and a half inch by half inch trowel. Here is a video on doing something similar to trimming out a kitchen sink. Beware, this video of mine is OLD czcams.com/video/1if7jf_EtCw/video.html
@@LandbergTileTV I just watched your video. Still did great work. Do you have a video on tiling around a kitchen undermount stainless sink. Trying to finish the edges with the 3/4" plywood, durock and 12" porcelain tile. A nice clean edge look.
Man... yesterday made a neesh/niche/nitch (lol) from marble ...took me the whole day and still yours looks better (eventhough was rush job). Are you in Broward county (Florida)? Great vid man :-)
Lol, marble is difficult to miter clean, hope you had a polishing pad with a grinder. That helps a ton! 👊
Great video can do do a video on split face decrotive tile
I already did a video on that, here it is!
czcams.com/video/eCtmSsNvkd4/video.html
Thanks for the tip, man! I introduced mitered outside corners to the builder I’m working for, and he loved it so much, that I’m mitering all outside corners (for a small fee). I also use 100 and 200 polishing pads to get a tighter miter.
I was thinking about mixing some counter top epoxy to fill the gap between two mitered tiles, and make the miter more seamless.
What do you think of that?
Thanks for the view! That's a great idea with the epoxy grout. We use Prism grout without problems as well.
I like that idea. No grout line makes the tile look like solid blocks. I'm going to try it the first chance I get.
That would work great with natural stone, as a radius can be formed using diamond pads.
I love this! Going to remodel my bathroom after Xmas and thing I'll give this a try! Was that the DeWalt d24000?
Yes, the Dewalt is the best!
@@LandbergTileTV looks like I'll be treating myself to one for Christmas 😃
Been following most of your videos. Your work is really sharp. Are you leaving 3/8's lip on exterior tiles of niche so the tiles meet perfectly? Let me know any detailed tricks. Always something to learn!
Our grout joints are always at a 1/16, it takes time to grout, but you can get grout in the joints.
@@LandbergTileTV No I meant to get the tiles to meet perfectly. You measure the tile width and how much extra are you adding to that measurement to take in consideration for thinset?
I want to see this done where the cornes of the niche are the same tile horizontally and vertically, a situation that often happens in layout.
HI LANDBERG TILE YOU SHOULD DO A VIDEO ON TIPS AND TRICKS ON LAY OUTS FOR NICHE AND AVOID SMALL CUTS ..
Great idea, will do!
Thanks slot Ahole now my GF thinks I should be able to do it with my $50.00 saw from Home depot. Just kidding beautiful job nice saw I enjoy tile work I've done just did our shower not bad for a rookie
For the niche itself, will there be an optimal size grout line? Is there such a thing as too small a grout line? Looks pretty tight in there. Thanks and great videos!
The grout line is tight. As long as you can fit a $100 dollar bill in it, it's good to go! 😎 Prism grout is great and we can always get the grout in the grout line 👊
How much space between mitered edges should you leave? Also, do you prefer to caulk, grout, or epoxy your edges?
Great tiler and channel. How come your grout looks patchy in mitred bathroom?
Great question, the grout was sealed immediately before I filmed that miter episode. 👍 Thanks for watching and the view!
Hey man, gotta do a bunch of mitres on 2 uncoming showers... Any idea where to find that P4? Thanks! Great Work!
Amazon sells them, or contractorsdirect
Does it cut better when you flip the tile upside down? I have them face up and I find the edges of the tile gets a little rough
Hey Mate how would you do a 90 degree miter? i am using 600x1200mm porcelain tile and oour niche is 400x800mm.
I'm a contractor not a tile guy but my tile guy cuts it square and takes a 4" hand held grinder and free hands the 45 .
For the sanding he uses a drill with a 5" disk
i do this as well, the reason its not as hard as it sounds is because you are not grinding the glaze but actually just right before it and you don't need an exact 45% removal, a little over 45% like about 46-50% will still butt up very nicely.
Recently finished tiling my kitchen. Mitred the tiles on external corners, had problems with my wet saw chipping the porcelain tiles more than expected, but was able to polish the chips out with a diamond pad. Inspecting my mid price range diamond saw blade with a magnifier, the diamonds are as much on the sides of the blade as on the edge. Don't know if this is normal.
Just ran across your channel, love your work and tool reviews. I've always been a fan of mitered corners... Schluter trims just seem like cheating to me (and they don't look all that good).
Where could I purchase those sanding blocks? if seen guys use pads on grinders too. what would those be called?
would I grout between those seams? i am going to use this technique with 6x18 subway tile with 3/16 grout lines. Thanks again. I cant stand the boarder trims. good job.
Neil Richetti what did you end up doing?
Other thing I noticed is that the niche is the exact height of the tile. My niche is like 18” and I’m using 12” tile. Don’t think I can pull this off in this case. I’d have to do a vertical and horizontal mitre on the same tile.
wow you went to lot trouble to make this video , super job ,for my skill set though I think ill stick with trim
thank for the comment and view!
That works fine as long as the niche falls in the right place for full tile layout. Doesn't always work out that way. Not knocking the work because its great
