Thank you sir for taking the time to shows us how to tile at a higher level. God bless you and your family!
Nice demonstration. Keep in mind only way this works with full tiles is if tile size is same size as the niche. If tile sizes are different then a custom framed niche will have to be built to get the full tile look. I enjoy watchin these vids!
Thank you for taking the time again to share your knowledge concisely while using your tools, materials, etc. to help others. Much appreciated.
I appreciate that!
That is a great way to do it when using a pre-made niche. I like mine to be much taller than 11" so I make them from scratch. To achieve the same results , measure out the approximate points where the tile will be, then make the niche a 1" or two bigger. After tile has been set it will be overhanging into the niche, fill the top and bottom with thinset or drypack. Now the niche has full, uncut tiles on top and bottom.
This is the answer I was looking. So I understand where the tile would meet on the bottom part of the niche. How about the tile for top part of the niche? Does that matter so it doesnât throw off the tile pattern? Thanks
@@ariesanfilippo1078 you always make the niche fit in with a tile, layout so you gotta do layout first
Once again another awesome video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. That is the exact way I arrive at my niche location. But thanks again for explaining it to the ones that donât understand . Please keep the videos coming. âFLIPâ
Beautiful job. One of the things I love about your channel is the thought that goes into your designs. It's really made me think about both my expectations and how best to plan for my upcoming planned reno.
Just so yâall know, I was the first to ask for this, youâre welcome!đ€Łđ€ŁđȘđœđȘđœ
Good to know. I thought it was only me. I asked recently and bam! Next thing I know this video comes out. Lol
Great video. Been watching for a nice clear example of how you do this. Thereâs often (usually?) other variables that need to be taken into account in renoes at least, but this gives a great starting point. Thanks much.
Thank you so much for making this video. I was able to install the niche without issue and it lined up perfectly!
Beauty. perfect way to explain where to cut down studs so whole tile fits in just perfectly. perfect video with no wastage of time. thank you again
Just started on my DIY niche--you saved the day--again! Thank you!
You make it look easy my friend. Learn something every single day. Thank you
great work, well done. One of my fav channels!
Man, exactly what I was looking for. Love the channel, thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Thank you for sharing your expertise. Your videos have guided me through my first tiled shower. Thanks to you it turned out beautiful and I'm confident it was done right! I did use this layout method for a very cool two wall nitche with led spot lights.
I love your precise delivery. Honestly, I'm a little sad this shower project is over. I'll still be tuning in. Keep up the great work!
Great work my man
Great work- going to apply this to my next shower niche install!
You're good! Proud of you on those under-angle tile cuts!!! Thanks for the video :)
thanks for making a video to solve my question, great channel and learned good ticks.
Great video once again, like how your channel is progressing!!
This is the video I've been waiting for. Thank you very much for the information! also, love your new "opening" of the video!
Awesome! Thank you!
Well done Iâve figured installs like this many times but not always I usually do a whole wall installation on floor and draw the lines and take the appropriate measurements as well and then of to the real thing itâs fun to work with a plan already established like that good job my friend and weâll explained.
Thanks for sharing
Wow! This demonstration and others in your channel is not just tiling, I would say this is Art!! Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and techniques. I was wondering what was the trick to have a perfect finish on the niche but the way you explained it makes it look very easy. Youâre the best.
By the way you just had a new subscriber.
Thanks.
Wow I Love this ! Thank you.
Great video, I suck at framing and learned something new! And math is my weakness, so I learned some math knowledge too!
Excellent video. Need more videos like this one
Thanks, will do!
Awesome video as always sir. . Very professional very clean love the look. I have learned very much from watching your videos thank you for all your knowledge you share with us. âFLIPâ
Dude you are poetry in freakin motion! Pleasure to watch!
I appreciate that!
You guys kick ass thanks for the video

Great video
Thanks for sharing which us bro nice job i been learning a lot
Awesome đ
I don't know how you find the time to do these mock up videos, but good work. Best tile channel on CZcams..
Landbergâs at it again! One of my fav channels!
Dont know if you guys gives a damn but if you are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf for the last days xD
@Manuel Justice Definitely, I've been watching on instaflixxer for since december myself =)
@Manuel Justice yea, have been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :)
Good job boss man
Great share. Thanks.
man just discovered your Chanel now that I'm almost finishing up my fairly flawed first tile installation ( not too bad I can live with it) wish I would've found it sooner! would've definitely made much less mistakes ! You're a real master at this beautiful craft. respect sensei
Welcome aboard!
What a boss đłđđ
You genius đ
Sweet is the only word that comes to mind.
Yes yes and yes!
Great video! This is something that I've been wondering for so long. How it is that the pros can place a niche so perfectly that the tiles align exactly on all sides! Well, even with this video, which you did so well, I doubt I can pull this off. So in my case, is there any clever way to fake the "perfect placement" of a niche!? I guess there are endless possibilities. I'm always scheming on figuring out how to fake it.
Great videos! Thanks for doing them. I'm subscribed! Do you have any tile layout tips for working with 12 x 24 tiles but using the Schluter 12 x 20" niche??
Fucking awesome. And boys bop. Keep boys bop for like. Absolutely the best song for your vids. Thanks again.
Great job sir! This video turned out extremely well. I am uploading videos for renovating an old house. This video was great information.
Awesome! Thank you!
This last projects nearly killed me with a the miters I had to do... And it was Carrara too. Chipped sooo easily... Had to do a bunch of buffing...
â makes sense
If the sill were to extend past the niche edges on either side would it install on top of the wall tile or be installed first and the wall tile cut around it?
What kind of pencil is that? Thanks, great video!
Great content like always i cant stand it dammit iwas having trouble figuring out were to cut niche since im learning and you explained so well i actually feel confident đ€đ
It takes time and practice, we still to this day get it wrong!
You guys do great work and great content đđ
100%right
Can you put model # of the dewalt tablesaw you used ? Tks
That's the best way to do it for looks. Only problem is the people with the big Costco bottles of shampoo that don't fit in a 11" niche lol
Yup, good for looks, but not big bottles!
Dang Landberg, quit making us jealous with all that expensive lumber.
What about thinset under pan?? How much should I compensate for, 1/4?
Your amazingly talented. Did you use a ledger board? If yes I'm assuming in a non mockup situation you would have to install additional tile below the ledger board to meet up with the shower floor?
We usually install pan tile first, then tile walls. Sometimes we install a ledger board depending on timing of the project
Excellent video. Can you make a video how to install a niche in finished bathroom? Thanks
Will do
Wish I could find a video about niche placement when the niche isn't the same size as the tile !
Great video
Question... if you are doing jolly around the edges instead of the mitre...... ??
Tile Life
If you install Jolly, you'll have the sides and top meet right at the edge of the niche. When you miter, it hangs over 3/8"
@@LandbergTileTV got it, TY!!
Very informative and to the point but curious why with (3) 12 in tiles tall it ended up being 35 3/4 tall?
Like a 2x4 itâs easier to say than 1.5âx3.5â board. Tile isnât exactly 12 and 24
So wait. I have a question. The tiles to the left and right of the niche that you placed can not be the full 12â due to the over hang needed to accept the miter. So does every tile in that row around the walls need to be ripped down to keep a straight grout line? Which in turn makes that one row slightly smaller than all the rest?
The tiles aren't 12" out of the box, more like 11 3/4". Line uf the bottom tile and the rest will fall inline. However, with these niches the margin of error is very tight and will likely spell disaster for many who try it.
Shouldnât you double up the bottom and top plate so the wall board has something behind it around the cut out ?
Yup, you can do that also!
đ
Dumb question. The inside height of that niche is 12? Unless you install 12 inch tile the next tile up from the bottom of the niche will be taller than the niche? Then you would have to L cut it? Also your not using the IQ saw anymore?
For this demo, I cut down the middle tiles 3/8" and polished the edges to look factory. Rectified tile is best to do this with as it's square, but you can still do it with non rectified (tile I used in this demo). This allowed me to miter the top tile of the niche and have it dropped down pass the top edge. Installers may frown on this, but we do it all the time and the eye can never see it. Hope this makes sense and I used the Dewalt for quick and easy miter cuts!
Is LevTec your favorite leveling system?
Yup
Where did you get that marker? White and black ink?
It's PICA, I did a video on it. czcams.com/video/JKLHe8gjpms/video.html
What would you do if the niche is taller than the tile you are using you will not end up with a full tile on top
We have been cutting and fabricating our prefab niches to match tile. We would cut it right through the middle and remove or add 1/2 Kerdi board. Something like this: czcams.com/video/GnEOL-iIKSg/video.html
How about when thereâs 4 walls your worrying about and there all not level?
First one here!
On your sides, your outermost screws had nothing to screw into! Don't you have to put your side vertical studs on center with the edge of the niche? Then you would have something to screw into!
Hi, what size was the niche that you used?
12x20
@@LandbergTileTV Thank you, is that the size you recommend using with 12x24 tiles?
Where did you get that niche size?
12x20 schluter niche
That size has a divider though? Maybe you can remove it somehow? And does that orientation leave it with a slope?
Nice video, I prefer this method to adding a bunch of aluminum trim to cover cut edges, or worse, making a tile picture frame. But please, please, put some gloves on when cutting that tile!
Never works out that way unless you frame the whole shower around the niche
Always works this way for us. We cut out the studs and frame each niche.
If one person reads this, realizes what I'm saying is true & passes it on them my job is done: besides investing your time, you're also investing materials to help further educate ppl. & only ask for a simple like & sub to the Channel. C'mon guys... we owe it to Liggy Liggy Landberg for everything he does in his videos to show love!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!!
Thanks brother! Appreciate this comment đ
500$ in lumber there! Lol
Niche.......said like Neech
Still got two haters. Lol
That's because they wanted me to "float" that wall for demonstration purposes lol
Lol...wouldâve been the same ones saying âshould use grey thin-set on a tile that darkâ LOL đ€Šââïž... but haters are my fave. Landberg look us up Meza Tile & Stone...in Denver teaching everyone the right way...thinking before doing. We appreciate all you do...MY WHOLE TEAM (11 of us!) next level for you is to travel. If youâre in Denver LMK. Ill pass on any jobs over just to learn more and collaborate.
Jorge Oqueli
For âdemonstrationâ purposes why dont you come over to my house and install a shower niche??!!
Dude.....it's called a "Niche", not a "nitch"!
For 4 rows of tile would the math be the same? 48 minus 1 1/2 minus 1/2 minus 1/8? Total? Im sorry im bad at math lol
What size spacer did you use
1/16 is what we always use for showers
