    Most turbos are fine that get replaced, I see it all of the time out here in diesels, mainly semis, thirteen and fifteen litres. These dealers and shops know that most of you guys have no clue how your motor operates, so you are easy pickings. I know, they have gotten me too, then I educated myself. Most of the time it is simply a bad sensor in the emission system. You do need to do regular maintenance on these emission systems, one of them is to change out your sensors, intake and exhaust back pressure are the two main ones. Then clean those EGR Valves and EGR Coolers, and yes, you can clean them, but you have to remove them first. Then the DPF and DOC filters, SCR too. You need to replace or clean them periodically.
    These shops see you guys coming from a mile away. Bad sensor, you get a new turbo! You pay the $8000 and down the road you go! One hundred miles later, that check engine light flips back on... You go back, and you get an EGR Cooler or a new EGR Valve... And the cycle continues until you are broke. And all you needed was a $70 sensor that you yourself could have bought and installed in the parking lot.

    My Peugeot 308 has been to alot of workshops and they cant seem to find the problem. The car runs bad at idle while cold and when its warm it will start to get better.
    I also have some lagging when in 1 gear.
    But now i can start hear the turbo whitsle, as if i have gave the car a blow of vavle. It happends once i get to 3000rpm and release the throttle.
    Could the issue be my turbo?
    Also Peugeot workshop have failed to find the issue. Ive already changed spark plugs, chain, cleaned all hoses.

    Wouldn’t it blow white smoke? Black smoke is unburned fuel?
    Only reason I say that is because I had a Ford diesel that was blowing lots of white smoke and was very under powered. After looking the intake pipe to the intake had come off so all the boosted air was leaking out and engine wasn’t getting enough air. So wouldn’t it be similar in case of a bad turbo?

    • @DarkAttack14
      @DarkAttack14 Před 4 měsíci

      In my experience from when my intake pipe blew off my old mk4 jetta diesel.. Black smoke not white. Anytime you're pushing more fuel than the air allows for you get black smoke

    So a year ago my turbo imploded driving down the highway, had a local shop replace it, took forever and he said they put a brand new factory cord like 15 or 16 turbo into my 6.7 ford, right out of the shop it didn’t sound right, had a loud howl and I said I’m no mechanic but that’s not right, he said oh no it’s supposed to sound like that you aren’t used to it because that’s what it sounds like new, never heard a turbo that sounded that bad. Anyway I thought screw it and drove on and figured if it busted they had to replace it anyway. A week later a lot of smoke started coming out of the exhaust, so I took it back he agreed it was bad and said he would replace it. I walked into the shop to pick it back up and saw the “new turbo” they had installed and taken out and it did not look brand new with a weeks worth of use on it, looked more like a bad re manufacture. The next one they had in sounded nearly right but I still said there was a faint howl but again I didn’t want to screw with it and now a year later the howl is nearly like the last one. What’s the diagnosis of that? Howls in 1st and second gear, can’t hear it down the highway, the whistle when it’s spoiling down back to idle sounds normal but that initial acceleration sounds like a police siren

      Change your oil more often than they recommend. Might've just swapped the head out knowing Ferd, but in 20k that'd be about regular for a modern domestic vehicle. Buy a Kia/Hyundai, probably still will die, but heard much better about their customer service long term.

    I've got an F350 6.0l, and when I'm pushing it, like towing my boat or something I can hear a very high pitch whine coming from the engine. It's barely audible to the point that it took me a while to be sure it was there, and it's so high pitched that it's at the edge of my hearing range. I'm new to this sort of engine, is that likely to be the turbo and is it a sign of trouble or normal?
