The cold start actually sounds tamer than the stock exhaust cold start. This exhaust is the ONLY one I'd buy. It sounds great. No tin can or raspy sounds like all the other axle backs, etc. Plus, the price is good. I wish they'd make a full titanium version.
Your videos are super informative and I’ve been doing most of the same upgrades. Thanks for putting up so much good content without fluff.
Also this exhaust sounds really great, couldn’t really tell if there was an increase in dB, but the tone is massively improved!
Tone is massively improved as you said. It is quite a bit louder thank the stock while driving but not too obnoxious. It's a great exhaust for sure. Thanks for watching!
I been listening to a lot of exhaust videos and you helped me make my decision.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Joey . Just purchased my r400’down under in Sydney. Thanks for the great review . The exhaust note even sounds better in person.
Hey man! Thanks for watching!
Lucky You! Would by my pick but I have to wait I am ordering the access port Tuesday.
Nice video man, did you have any issues with the right side hanging down a tiny bit farther than the left side? I put them back in the hangers obviously but the right side is drooped down a bit for some reason...
Different from everyone else and sounds good. 👍
You should record a cold start after you took off the stock exhaust, just being interested at what sound it would make without a catback😂
Even the picture shows the traditional resonator... glad they are trying new things.
Agreed! Makes me feel like there was r&d being the "tone" of the exhaust. All in all it's great!
Heck yeah I’m so excited for more power mods to come out on the 2.4
Looks good!
Any chance you could do an install video for the OEM footwell illumination kit? Nobody on CZcams has done it yet and it would look awesome on the car
Sounds great . I went with a x force street system
Great exhaust as well!
hey thanks for the video, I installed the same exhaust several days ago and I cannot adjust the tailpieces to sit higher into the bumper, did you have any issues? Any recommendations..? Thank you
I hope Santa brings you a really nice mechanics creeper this Xmas.
Are you gonna get the plastic trim paint matched to the body color?
You must be one of the first people to get this. Mines been on order for over a month
I got lucky I guess. I saw it was instock at maperformance and I messaged them to confirm it would ship quick
Thanks for the video, Joey. Your video upload is very low resolution. May want to check that out.
Cold start sounds nice, my ETS axle back is str8 up obnoxious during cold starts as does drone a bit at 2600+
*Pro Tip:* After you install, wipe off finger prints with micro fibre before you run the car, as the prints will be almost impossible to get off after it has gone through a heat cycle.
Thanks! Don't worry I cleaned the exhaust before the 1st start. Not my first time installing an exhaust haha
Is there any droning in city driving ar 1600 - 1800 rpm?
I’m installing mine this weekend. You didn’t need any adapter for the downpipe like the older ones? You just used the oem one that’s there?
Thanks for watching! Correct I did not get an adapter. The invidia Catback bolted up to the stock donut gasket. Use the new hardware from invidia do not use the OEM spring bolts
Hey Joey,
Did you need the 2.5" adapter for the stock downpipe? Thanks!
I did not need to use an adapter. The factory donut gasket is all used with the invidia hardware. I did not reuse the oem spring bolts
Did you just use the gasket supplied for the downpipe to mid pipe or do you need an adapter? Or did you use the OEM donut? Thanks.
I used the oem donut and it sealed up perfectly
Most people aren't a fan of this car but for some reason I really love it. Too bad there isn't an STi version.
So confused this car has a turbo?!?!
@@Roxas_DM oops my bad
@@mustypickle all good I wasn’t trying to be an ass just confused. This car sounds better than an sti in person btw
The vb wrx is a tuning monster
this exhaust is nice id probably get the hangers cut shorter so it doesnt look like it hangs so much
I just did a small adjustment tonight and it's perfect now. No need to modify the hangers
@@JoeyMontalto What did you do to fix it exactly?
Yeah I need to know too! I bought polyurethane hangers with closet holes to help.
ええやんええやん
Did you reuse the donut gasket along with the new gaskets to connect to stock downpipe?
For the Catback to jpipe connection I only uses the factory donut gasket
@@JoeyMontalto I see. So reuse donut gasket from stock jpipe to catback? Do you use the spring bolts also or use the new hardware? Thanks for your response
@@rencel3664 I used the bolts supplied with the Catback. I did not reuse the spring bolts
Hey bro love your video except, can you show us where yo put the adapter and I assume the gaskets go at every bolt together section lol. I'm only slightly mechanically inclined lol, I took the old one off but don't know where the adapter goes. Thanks!
I didn’t use the Catback to jpipe adapter. It fit no issue
The adapter would go on where you bolt it to the jpipe
@Joey Montalto thanks man I appreciate the quick response! You didn't have no leaks with not using it? And I assume I need a gasket there as well?
@@Mizfit27 all I used was the factory donut gasket for that connection. I had no leaks
Who did you order your exhaust from when searching online I dont see the helmholtz section just a normal resonator.
Thanks for watching! I purchased mine from MAPerformance. Most shops are currently using the previous gen photos online. All 22 wrx invidia r400 exhausts will come with the Helmholtz resonator
@@JoeyMontalto that's what I was hoping I'm seeing a few people complaining of droning with the r400 which is odd since it has that resonator
Question: I’m getting the Q300 will I need the cat back adapter?
I did not have to use one to make it seal. I used the OEM donut gasket and used the new hardware (do not resuse spring bolts) to bolt Catback to factory jpipe
Is stamping a cheap method that will leak? It just looks cheap to me but I don’t know.
Easier to make a consistent product and probably better for flow? The only stamped sections were the midpipe Y section and the axle back Y section
invidia is a cheap product. The stamping usually falls out but doesn’t leak.
Is there any weight savings with this setup over stock?
I'm not sure. The mufflers are much smaller than stock but the piping is bigger than stock
Did you use the grimmspeed adapter?
I did not have to use the grimmspeed adapter. It bolted right up usuing the oem donut gasket. No leaks
Why does it look like the exhaust is hanging really low? Can you send pics from the back so we can really see it?
Depending on the exhaust hangers he was using. There’s plenty of different sizes if you’re worried about that sweetheart.
@@corneliusdiaz8542 thanks Beeb!
@@Roxas_DM If I pay that much for exhaust it had better fit better than that. No need to change out hangers due to being too low
What are those gloss black exhaust finishers?
It is a Subaru jdm rear diffuser. I have an install video on the channel of that being installed. Link where I purchased is in that video description from smy
Ehh boss what 3rd brake light is that? I like that one
Check out my install video on that 3rd brake light! It’s from subiebros linked in that video’s description
@@JoeyMontalto right on will do my man ty!
Highway drone? That's all I care about
Then don’t get a catback. You don’t need it. If you worried about that you won’t even come close to worrying about flow.
There is no highway drone. I just recently installed the r400 and I use the motorways nightly.
What lift are you using?
These are called quick jack
How much were those quick jacks?
I think they were like 1500
Does this exhaust have drone at highway speeds?
When I first installed I thought there was some drone. Over time I’ve gotten used to it. At highway speeds cruising 76-80 it has little drone but my ears adjusted have adjusted and I don’t notice it. The Helmholtz resonator is really working on this one
What jacks are those
Quick jack!
Total instal time?
about an hour for everything
Sound no different alexle back
Missed opportunity . Why didn’t this video do real world sound drives ? We got nothing !
More videos will be uploading shortly.
Love the install video, but why didn’t you wait until morning to do a cold start? If i was your neighbour and heard you start your car up and let it idle, I’d be pissed.
Haha he's a bad boy. Maybe you should spank his hiny
@@captainskedmark6488 wtf?
It was only like 8 pm on a Saturday lol also I am the hoa president
@@JoeyMontalto ah that’s okay then 😂 if it was on a Sunday then I doubt you would have started it up at night.
@@JoeyMontalto now I know how you got the money for this car 😂
That thumbnail. Whooof 🤮
