  • After visiting the local Chrysler Jeep dodge dealer and finding out the cost of a crankcase vent filter change decided to make a video for everyone showing it is easily DIY. Video is my first attempt and I’ve never done it before. Hope this helps some of you and saves you some money.

Tip: when you take the cover off put the oil fill cap back on just so dirt or anything won’t get in there.
Most likely it won’t but you never know,it’s always good to be safe as far as this goes!! Great video btw

Nice video. I like that you mentioned the socket size. One thing I would recommend is continuing the video through the “Perform Service” annunciation on the instrument cluster. BTW, another video says to turn in the key to the RUN position, then depress the brake pedal twice, then depress the gas pedal slowly twice. Turn the key off and verify that the message is gone next time the key is turned on.

They have no new vehicles to sell, so some dealers, not all are putting a lot of pressure on the service depts. to tote the load of the missing $ that sales can’t come up with. My dealer quoted $330.00. I said I’ll think about it. I have thought about it and many thanks to you tube and those who post! Gods blessings upon you.

Thanks for how to video. I got 2015 Ram 2500 shop manual from ALLDATA DIY website for my 2500 Ram Cummins diesel and they had similar procedure for CCV replacement. They followed what you did almost to the letter, but they suggest removing old valve cover gasket and replacing it with a new one, in addition to common shop requirements like disconnecting the batteries, and hoses to the valve cover, which probably isn't really necessary. For your info torque setting on all those 8mm bolts is 10 N-m or 89 in-lbs. Did you have any oil leaks around valve cover after the change? Thanks

I have one that looks very similar that’s used all around my home. From my wife who uses it sometimes for gardening to my kids who leave it somewhere outside to me in the garage.
It definitely adds a great patina to the metal finish that’s for sure.
Almost forgot but what brand of filter did you end up using ? I was going to speculate at $100+ dollars you probably went with Mopar/Fleetguard?
