What I love about Ursaring (and Ursaluna by extension) is how, with all these Pokemon capable of breathing fire, destroying you with their mind, and generating enough electricity to power a small city, this one's special power is BEING A BEAR. And it's VERY good at it.

Edit: Focus Blast I think could be the most unreliable damaging move in the game. It has like the lowest accuracy other than lile Zap Cannon and Dynamic Punch (but those moves have guarenteed effects, Paralysis and Confusion respectively.) The main strong but can miss of the other types (Thunder, Blizzard, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, Hurricane) have ways to make them 100 accurate (Hurricane and Thunder to rain, Blizzard to hail) and the other 2 are higher accuracy anyway, i don't know much less reliable move other than those OHKO ones.

As it currently stands in gen 8 NU and in similar vein to last gen NU, it could come into Vaporeon taking only 20-24% from Scald and naturally punish the burns without the need of RestTalk. That alone is a hugh boon. The amount of natural bulk lets it survive a 2HKO from defensive Dhelmise making it unable to revenge. Stab Facade paired with Toxic Orb and Quick Feet made such an impact in my circle of online friends we actually started meming it. Addendum: Ursaring was ZUBL in Sun and moon. Nothing of the SM ZU cast of the time could stand up to its sets beyond trying to sack your Mawile as slowly as possible, and it was overwhelmingly banned. If Ursaring were to return in Sword and Shield, it would likely be in ZU or lower. Ursaring biggest competitors Kangaskhan, Stoutland, and Zangoose were gone from the metagame or nerfed by metagame changes. However, the lower level of SS ZU is higher this generation, and plenty of good Fighting types like Sawk and Gurdurr can reliably dispose of it, or Ghost type pivots like Froslass and Rotom could give more leeway while playing around Ursaring’s moves and Trick Room turns. If Ursaring returns in Scarlet and Violet, a limited dex, mechanical changes, and some kind of new buff will be necessary for it to escape Untiered.

@@yadielrosado8012 Im well aware that Ursaluna isn’t a Hisuian form and is a regional evolution. However, we’ve had experiences like with the cited Meltan where a new Pokémon without the ability to evolve in the mainline games but could evolve in an outside game was present. Ursaring is unlike any of the other regional evolutions, as it isn’t a Hisuian form, so it’s entirely possible that it may not be able to evolve in SV given its specific evolution requirements in PLA. I think it’s rather bold to say either of us know what’s going to happen lol
