I loved this shiny so much, so when I found out in game about a supposed “Blood Moon” Ursaluna, I thought they were going to give me back my precious crimson bear, but instead I was met with Splatoon 3’s Mr. Grizz. And man this fella is cool. What funky bears.
Blood moon plus minds eye sounds kinda strong. It gets vacuum wave as well whether or not it is good I'm not sure but hey special priority. Ogerpon hearthflame looks like a terrifyingly powerful tera user as well with ivy cudgel and embody aspect.
Tried out the Calm Mind Moonlight build you mentioned in singles. It's strong, but it does require good support from your team. I think Alolan Nine-Tales/Grimmsnarl will be good partners with it since they can setup screens to make Bloodmoon bulky and hard to kill. If you add in Rillaboom with that, you make Bloodmoon tankier on physical side while also helping you deal with water types.
Would oranguru be able to instruct a second turn of the blood moon on the same turn to remove the requirement to wait a second turn thus I can run truck room turn one with guru and instruct past the second turn requirement. Or even if you have to instruct on turn one to blast off a second one turn two while you set up trickroom. But hopefully it can be instructed thru on turn two when you are locked in and your potential “struggle” turns into a blood moon choice specs nuke.

OK so what about torkal h-liligant with Ursaluna BM? You have after you boosted by chrophyll, you also have rage powder for Aqua Jet from urshifu and other priorities
Hmm in singles I think it will be better than regular because it can live much longer than without the burns intimidates and rocky helmet chip and calm mind and moonlight for more bulk and recovery, in doubles it will be dependent on how well you team can handle physical or special walls
Welp, I'm gonna just be resetting for a TR and an icy wind version in my Scarlet and Violet games respectively right away. It's just worth it to have them in the box IMO
They just combined Chatot and Exploud (Keen Eye + Scrappy) but put Truant on their Boomburst in exchange for generally higher stats. (Also single-target and part ground and yadda yadda)
I just don't see it going anywhere nearly as much as regular Ursaluna did. Ursaluna was this ridiculous perfect storm of well-distributed stats, Guts and STAB Facade, Ground-type Close Combat, and great Trick Room speed. Bloodmoon is literally worse at all of these things because its primary attacking stat is lower, its ability doesn't boost it, it'll be trading Headlong Rush for Earth Power, its new signature move is basically just worse than STAB Active Facade because it's the same base power but with a downside, and it's slower than regular Ursaluna so it loses out to its cousin in Trick Room. Like... it might not be *bad*, but I don't expect it to be taking the meta by storm. If mashing go on a really strong Scrappy Normal-type move were meta-breaking, Exploud would be in Ubers, and we're not in that timeline.
So Blood Moon is going to have trouble against Steel and Rock types but Ursaluna is part Ground type so it can hit them for super effective damage. Skarmory wins again
Are Ursaluna's forms distinguishable in team preview or are they looking the same like it is with Urshifu? If they look the same in team preview that could potentially be grounds for massive mind games in closed team sheet formats, no?
has anyone gotten an ursaluna with best or pretty good in attack or speed? because mine is the same as freezai's i just realized (with swapped def and spdef)
Corviknight might be the go to counter since it has the normal resist and ground immunity, interested to see if ghost Tera becomes less common due to its ability.
I'm not sure how I feel about this mon. Cool typing, again, and I love the addition of effectively a slightly drawn back Boomburst, but the lack of immediacy in it's power combined with it's notably weaker HP and Spdef makes me feel like this thing is going to struggle to get moving in singles. In VGC i think it definitely has a lot better tools, but 52 speed hurts it pretty bad when it comes to things like trick room. I'm seeing missed opportunities. One can only hope I'm wrong.

While wo chein is a better standard luna counter than ting lu is a blood moon counter due to grass typing, ting lu isn't a bad pokemon like wo chein and so having your main attack stat and 1 of your stabs disrupted by ting lu which can then ruination you down hurts it a bit (not an issue rn since ting lu has fallen off a bit but it could see more use if blood moon becomes popular)
Back during Pokémon Legends Arceus, I had a Shiny Ursaluna named Rhubarb.
Tinkaton in shambles looking at a Gigaton Hammer clone running off of an actually good offensive stat.
Bloodmoon Ursula be pulling up the the baiken look
Tera-Fighting + Vacuum Wave could be a cool niche set. This is the first potentially viable vacuum wave user I’ve seen in a long time.

hello youtube algorithm? where are the rest of the pokemon DLC videos?
it's weird to see this video as the first coverage of the DLC ... but good analysis, as always!
im so getting blood moon this weekend and EV training it for casual battles gonna be a fun weekend
Do you think it will ever run Tera normal if it’s for a support that has a move like Follow Me or something? Cuz that would hit hella hard, and probably burst through its would be resists like Corviknight
Also, oh my god, it’s MAN BEAR PIG
YES! URSALUNA POWER IN ATTACK AND ESPECIAL ATTACK!
OK so what about torkal h-liligant with Ursaluna BM? You have after you boosted by chrophyll, you also have rage powder for Aqua Jet from urshifu and other priorities
Hats off to everyone who do the photography hunting quests over and over again for the perfect iv rolls😂
I am so excited to use this guy
Hmm in singles I think it will be better than regular because it can live much longer than without the burns intimidates and rocky helmet chip and calm mind and moonlight for more bulk and recovery, in doubles it will be dependent on how well you team can handle physical or special walls
Where can you check all the new mons' BSTs?
Tf they gave it GIGATON HAMMER equivalent move💀
This Pokemon model looks so good in-game, somehow
Right now the need four blood is rising
-remelia scarlette
Just give us a damn rusty bottle cap already
Welp, I'm gonna just be resetting for a TR and an icy wind version in my Scarlet and Violet games respectively right away. It's just worth it to have them in the box IMO
i was really scared you were going to say you'd have to replay the whole game for another shot at perfect iVs
Magnet rise probopass: 🗿
agreed dude, i just settled for decent atk and decent speed. I'm not bothering grinding this for weeks
Holy sh%t what is this? How have I not heard of it even a few days before?! :o
I am definitely going to be soft resetting til I get one, I'm in no rush to complete the DLC
as someone who doesn't play comp, this was a super interesting video +1
The bokoblins are respawning again.
They just combined Chatot and Exploud (Keen Eye + Scrappy) but put Truant on their Boomburst in exchange for generally higher stats. (Also single-target and part ground and yadda yadda)
blood moon Ursaluna is wild
I agree. Looks broken at first glance, but when you think about it Blood Moon has some relevant flaws.
And grassy glide now heals the opponent
So Blood Moon is going to have trouble against Steel and Rock types but Ursaluna is part Ground type so it can hit them for super effective damage. Skarmory wins again
OH MY GOD IT’S FREDDY FAZBEAR
Been waiting for the sequel to Cocaine Bear.
I can’t believe they fucked up tink and said yeah let’s just make ursaluna better
i wonder why they bothered giving it 70 attack. base ursaluna got 45 special attack
yeah they really should just done the same here and added those points to HP or Special Defense at least
When they said Special Ursaluna, they weren't kidding
Are Ursaluna's forms distinguishable in team preview or are they looking the same like it is with Urshifu? If they look the same in team preview that could potentially be grounds for massive mind games in closed team sheet formats, no?
Their box icons are different, so id assume their team preview icons are too.
has anyone gotten an ursaluna with best or pretty good in attack or speed?
because mine is the same as freezai's i just realized (with swapped def and spdef)
One can only hope I'm wrong.
cocaine bear is old news, freddy fazbear is the new thing
Looks like there's gonna be another crop of genned pokemon at worlds next year
I love how we already reached calculations about specific pokemon to tell whether something is viable or not :) gives gen 3 feelings
Y'know, I'd like to see a special version of Intimidate, or a physical version of Assault Vest.
scale garchomp and knock off weavile are back :)
Withered Freddy is gonna be wild
