If anyone is interested to know, this works on 24mm nato straps too. I think it looks even better than the 22mm. The external lug width of this watch (ae1200) is actually 25mm. So the 24mms fit perfectly.
Got a Casio AE-1000 today and the stock band was basically wrist torture. Found your vid and did the mod on an old nato and now the watch is light years better. Thanks!
Awesome to hear that this video could help you out :) Got the black version of the ae1200 today and I know that will look great on a nato as well. Thanks for watching Kyle!
Just ordered a Casio DW290 and wanted a new strap, so I bought 18mm NATOS. They are so narrow it makes it look like it was meant for a female's wrist. Good thing is that I have an F105 and W800H that look great with the 18mm NATO. Thank you for making this, and I'm glad I stumbled across this video. I have a four pack of inexpensive 22mm NATOs from Amazon that I got for my Casio Duro. I will try this out with one of them.
I’ve used 18-22 & 18-20mm lug adapters from ebay, they are great with 2 piece straps but pass-thru nato or Zulu is really ugly, your method looks better on wrist.
I will try this on my cheap diver from ali express, because I ordered a 20mm nato strap and the nato strap that came was 25mm. Thank you for zhis wonderful idea!
@@NordicWatchChannel Hey! I've finally done it and it looks sooo good. My guy, you are a freaking legend for sharing this great idea. If you want to see how it looks just reply to this comment.
I've put a vintage leather-racingstrap on my casio-royale by just cutting in the end with the springbars, looks realy cool (Mad Max-Style) - now I think about given it a dedicated-Nato as well. Great video.
Hi very useful video ,Thank U I always wanted to use wider nato strap on the ae1200wh rather than the 18mm ,which is quite small. I used 24mm nato and after these procedure it fits perfect.
I have a question and with a name of “Nordic Watch Channel” you may be the best one to answer it. Does this modification effect performance or battery life in cold weather? I believe that metal plate against your warm body in freezing weather is important from extreme testing videos I’ve seen.
That’s an interesting question! I don’t have anything else than my gut feeling, but I would say that it might have a difference. Cold is always bad for battery life, so it would be weird if it didn’t have an effect. On the other hand, you probably won’t wear it outside for hours and hours every day, so the effect might be negligable.
Yes that’s true! Not really a fan of it myself with regular watches like divers, but these Casios are so small that it doesn’t annoy me in the same way!
Interesting! I don’t own any g-shocks yet so I’m not really familiar with the possibilities they offer.. if I eventually get a G-shock I’ll check that out! And thanks for the suggestion friend! :)
@@NordicWatchChannel i tell you what i will make a video of it and have it on my channel and also sorry i meant to say 20mm not 22 mm my channel is lugo j 7181
True. Might test it if I had some laying around. But I don't have any watches with a 24mm lugwidth and don't really want to order a strap just to cut it up haha! But idk.. I think the 22mm one is already pretty big for this particular watch. My pleasure, thanks for watching! :)
@@NordicWatchChannel I did this with a 24mm. Looks better than the 22mm, but that’s just my opinion. The external lug width of this watch is 25mm. So the 24mms fit perfectly. I like the beefier look anyway.
I have never got the fascination with Nato straps for this reason. They are too narrow for 99.9% casio digitals. This is a decent compromise but I'm still not a fan of this look..
Not as such to my knowledge.. I think you can buy an adapter from Casio or some aftermarket producer. After installing the adapter to the lugs you can use any nato strap :)
Cool! If I found the right watch with my search, it looks like it has drilled lugs and uses normal springbars. So yeah, you could pretty much use any strap but just make sure that the width of the strap is the right size. So probably 20/21/22 or something millimeters :) Couldn't find that info quickly but you can measure it at home!
Spaghetti Horror Hahah! I found one after a year when I moved out of the appartment and cleaned it up. Had latched onto a window blind for a good year and I don’t know how that’s even possible.
@@NordicWatchChannel Thank you! I'm trying to find the lug adapter to change the strap but I cannot find it anywhere. I've looked on Jay and Kays Ebay and can't find it...
@@NordicWatchChannel This was Jay and Kays response: Hello Your AE is an 18mm lug model. You could use this 5600 product on your AE despite the 16mm vs. 18mm lug difference. It was a small batch of prototype. That has since sold out and I am doing some updates to the design before releasing again. I don't have ETA yet of that update.
I have not tried to put a 20mm strap on it but sure you can do the same trick as I do in the video with a 22mm strap! The cuts you make into the strap just have to be half of the depth that they are on the 22mm strap. I can try that and post a picture in my next video for you or something :)
@Anders from Finland they do sell in nato straps, they put a synthetic leather type material connecting to the spring bar then the nato strap part so it won’t look weird i just thought the resin looks better
Do you mean if this will work with a 24mm nato? The one I used on the video is a 22mm but sure I don't see why it wouldn't work. Just don't know if it will look good :)
Use a single hand held hold pinch and a lighter. Boom 2 min video

I've used some adapters too with a G-Shock. The problem (for me) is that it makes the lug-to-lug colossal. This keeps the package quite slim :)
@@NordicWatchChannel I had to drill holes in a nylon strap because the adapters added about 10mm to the L2L & the strap ended up huge!
