"we will be continuing Marvel soon", fun fact, but this film is actually a Marvel film! That end credit scene at 32:12 wasn't just for laughs, that's a Stan Lee cameo lmao
It might be loosely based on marvel hence the reason they got Stanley to do a cameo but this was actually through Disney and they didn't own marvel yet but it's supposed to be a superhero film but I am 99% sure it's not based directly on any marvel comic

So fun fact about Honey Lemon's bag, if you pay attention the buttons are arranged like the periodic table of elements. So those balls aren't premade other then the base and are filled with a formula she comes of with and types in on the fly. She is both adorable and super smart!
It baffles me that more people didn’t pick up on this originally. I saw it the first time I saw the film.

THE JOKES ARE KILLING ME
I have a theory about who's paying for all the stuff in the lab. Fred's parents are paying for it. I bet that Fred's parents are major donors to SFIT. That's why Fred is allowed to hang out in the lab with all the students and why he is given the sweet, honorary role of "school mascot" despite not actually being enrolled as a student.

I feel like his brother holding him upside down was like finding something when you aren't paying attention. Like when you lose something, it goes way over your head. But when you chill out, you eventually notice it. It's easy to find stuff when you don't stress about it

The movie in a nutshell
The five stages of grief are visible here. Baymax tries to show Hiro the video of Tadashi very early on, but because Hiro isn't ready to fully accept his brother's death and feels guilty, it doesn't open. Only when he fully breaks down and uses the exact words "Tadashi is gone", he gets to some kind of acceptance, Baymax can show him the video and Hiro can begin to heal. Parallels between Tadashi and Hiro are really touching to see as well. I also love how Baymax is starting to sound more and more like a human during the movie. Thanks for this reaction, this is one of my favorite animated movies ever.
San Fransokyo is in a universe where after the 1906 earthquake, it was rebuilt by Japanese immigrants to withstand all future seismic events. Hence the name San Fransokyo, combining both American and Japanese architecture.

Interesting. All these years I thought it was set in a world where Imperial japan won WWII, since that's what I was told (and because the actual explanation is a bit naïve).

@@videohistory722 I mean, there can be more than one alternate WWII universes... I honestly kind of liked thinking of this as an alternate WWII world, because it would have been an interesting look into how not everything would necessarily be bad. Like, obviously, Germany or Japan (or both) winning the war would be bad, but not indefinitely. Like, social change happens, regimes collapse and reform, so an Axis victory wouldn't necessarily look like a Man in the High Castle kind of world, especially today. I mean, look at how far the US has come, and how horrible it's been in the past.

The line "That was his mistake!" is where I lost ALL sympathy for Callaghan. Also, in watching, Krei wasn't really all that reckless. Things were within parameters, and he told Callaghan's daughter what was going on and got her input. Final decision was up to her. Is Krei a good guy, not really. But he's not a villain.

@@jadepinnock Yes, but only after confirming everything was still within perameters and asking Callaghan's daughter (I forget her name at the moment) if she wanted to keep going. He didn't make her, or guilt her. She had all the info and said she wanted to try. There was always an element of risk in what they were doing.
He was literally sending a human through a teleportation portal. Any irregularity should have been looked into. I mean, take a look at Apparition in Harry Potter. It’s fast, but if you get it wrong you can lose body parts.

You know, interesting fact:
After we watched Big Hero 6 in theaters, my dad told me that it reminded him a lot of the movie, *Brother Bear*
I love this movie so much. It's also one of my favorites. Seeing Hiro, just a child, losing so many people he loves, but managing to move forward in the end gives me strength and hope, as I've also lost a lot of important people in my life. Despite Tadashi's devastating death, it's a movie that warms my heart. Very happy that you liked this movie so much.

About Wasabi being extra buff - well, he suffers from a serious case of OCD, and he wants everything to be perfect, including his own body (confirmed by the makers of the movie) - so yeah, probably his morning starts with enough exercise to make a professional athlete jealous. Add to that the fact that he does martial arts (check his combat style) and you get one buff, tough dude.
Also, explanation about the name "San Fransokio" - in the Big Hero 6 world the Big One DID strike San Fran, and the only reason the city wasn't completely annihilated by the quake was because of the experience the japanese immigrants had with telluric phenomena. Upon rebuilding, the original citizens decided to combine their city with a traditional japanese one - hence, San Francisco + Tokyo. Which also leads me to suspect that WWII ended up quite differently in this world - I mean, when Japanese and Americans are actual besties, there is no reason for Japan to join the Axis.
I remember we watched this at school together, in theaters. I didn’t get anything from everyone talking and eating popcorn aggressively. 🚀

Was very suprised that Big Hero 6 was a marvel movie when it first came out but, I believe the MCU was considering or maybe still is considering bringing them into the movies somehow because I think in Avengers Age of Ultron you could see Baymax's card sitting on a desk with other cards

Did you know that the statue Baymax smashes in Fred's garden is actually a statue of Hans from Frozen? They might be related.

Can we get a What If episode where Baymax succeeds in killing Callahan on the island and Hiro and Baymax just become straight up villains ? And then it could be the whole team trying to stop them and Hiro killing them all one by one. Ooooh wait wait... and then at the end, after Hiro has killed all the other heroes, Tadashi shows up and turns out he wasn't actually killed in the explosion. And he sees what his brother has become and knows he needs to stop him and so he goes and gets all his fallen friends tech and uses them all simultaneously to try and defeat Hiro and Baymax. And then Hiro ends up killing his brother out of rage and denial. The end.

Just watching this reaction. When it first came out, my daughter and I started doing the dap Hiro & Baymax do. (Yes, I dap my kid. I had her young, and I'm a millennial.) She was 10 then. We still do it now, 8 years later. It's almost the end of her first year of college, and I miss her like crazy, so seeing that almost made me cry!!! ❤🤜🏾
