Happy watchmaking! - Jak na to + styl
Awesome channel and video! My mother gave me several old quartz watches from my father that haven't run in over 16 years, and I've recently delved into doing some minor DIY repairs. This is EXACTLY what I needed. Thank you for the detailed, concise steps! I have a Seiko kinetic that needs the rotor repaired, and this is perfect for it.
Glad to hear that! Good luck with your repair!
funny to see you here :D ....diy shoe repair and diy watch repair ? :) I'm in.
Such professionalism. Thank you. Subscribed without hesitation
I was delighted to see all of your videos, visualized so systematically, carefully and clearly. Thank you for letting me discover the world of watches. 😀👍
You're very welcome!
You accent is absolutely phenomenal
Fantastic guide as always!
Thank you kindly!
@@DIYWatchClub you need to do a 'secret' giveaway on CZcams! I might win here instead 😩😜
this video is very helpful for me. thank you!
Good Tutorial 😊
THX 4 Showing this ...
Great Video !
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! I'm going to try this on a watch that needs a movement swap. I want to keep the original rotor.
Thank you
I like your website , gotta' have a custom rotor .
Very clear video, thank you 👍
Keep going !
Can you please make a video explaning how to put the same date dial from a case with a 3am crown to a case with a 4am crown please ?
That's a great suggestion, indeed it's one of the most often encountered problems in modding. We'll plan for a tutorial on that!
Remember while changing the half moon weight not to turn anything until the new weight is in place
Ty sir
$15 for the screwdriver and $40 for shipping seriously
Any chance you could tell where I could find out what kind of movement my seiko 5 7019-8180 had and what movement could replace it ?
Thank you for nay direction ..
Amazing. all those movements are replaceble, this is so is nice! What defines a water resistance in the construction of a watch? Why is one 50m, another one 200m? Is glass impornant, dichtung-s,...crown?
It's the entire construction, from crystal thickness, to crown structure etc. One point of failure means total failure, so everything has to be up to par to the particular WR rating. You can read more on WR rating here: diywatch.club/en/blog/true-meaning-of-water-resistance-rating-on-watch
What if the replacement isn’t a full rotor but just the decorative part? I’ll have to reuse my existing screw, ball bearing and weight mass
would the custom rotor work on an SW200-1?
The rotor should not be placed randomly like shown in this video. Seiko has Guidelines on how to exactly place the rotor, where the weight has to point to...
Very nice, may I ask the thickness of that screwdriver's tip?
Thank you.
It's quite difficult to get a precise measurement but I tried my best to measure it with a caliper. The result comes in at around 0.25mm. Hope that helps!
Hi! I have an Invicta with 2650 chainese movment, the rotor sound really cheap, and I dont wear the watch often. So I thought on remove the rotor and make it manually hand movment. What you think? Its will work?
I don't have hands on experience with 2650 movement. But theoretically, yes you can do this, and it will work
I have a seiko SNZG09K would like to purchase a custom rotor for it. Do they (You) ship to Canada? What is the price? How do I obtain? Thanks a bunch
Thanks for this video. The rotor looks decorated and engraved. Is this something you plan on offering? I only see engraved on the site. I would totally order that if made available.
Yes! The rotor in the video will be available at our store soon-ish (could be as early as next week). Will keep you posted!
@@DIYWatchClub Good news! I’ll keep an eye out for it.
@@MarcDOnofrio It's available now! shop.diywatch.club/collections/customised-components/products/custom-rotor-set-seiko-nh-series
@@DIYWatchClub Thank you! I placed an order.
@@DIYWatchClub Hi, is this rotor compatible with SNK809?
In Seiko watches, does the rotor wind the watch by turning clockwise, or counterclockwise (looking at the back of the watch). Or will the rotor wind the watch by turning in either direction ?
The seiko rotor winds in both direction with the help of its "magic lever". It's pretty cool, go check it out
That's beautiful. Thanks !@@DIYWatchClub
Will this work with the NH38 movement?
Yes, it will. NH38 has the same rotor design
2:54 aligning the "dot hole" of the rotor with the "dot hole" of the rewinding wheel (green one) would help for the efficiency of the auto-rewind
- same direction for "right handed" watches
- opposite direction for "left handed" watches (as on the video ? also its a right handed watch ?? well ...)
How so? I don't see how lining the holes up would make any difference. Can you please explain?
@@gregs7519 depending on the "most commonly" used hand positions, the rotor movement will correspond to the magic lever maximal amplitude ... think about the elbow movement for a left handed watch vs right handed watch
at least this is what seiko gives 🤣
@@gregs7519Read the manual. It's a thing.
Is all rotor same? Just think if my chinesse brand can swap the rotor 😁
I meant change to branded rotor
Unfortunately no, and it's rare to find the same rotor across different brands
Ok. Thanks. I though it will be same hahaha.
You watch didn't pass the pressure test,I suggest you fix that
Rotor alignment is a thing, and this video straight up ignored it.
knew it, didn't even align it properly before getting it back
Whats the point if you can see it?
