Wow, I quite like this version. I remember purchasing my first apple computer in 2008 and it shipped with just 1GB of ram when similarly priced windows machines had 4GB. But it ended up being a fantastic device!

Listen, there’s just no possible way I can get everything done today that I need to with just one of me.
I picked this one up a few weeks ago for $1399 at Best Buy, but after some trade ins, it was $800. I use a windows machine for work and this makes that thing seem like a laptop from 1997.
The way it integrates all Apple devices is insane. I’m using it for my personal branding, video editing, writing, and podcasting. It’s unreal. Now if I can get my employer to let me change to a Mac for work. Hey our CEO uses one….

I think having a type A port would be nice as well. You are the second person I've seen doing a review on this computer who is not happy about just getting 8GB of memory! Wow, not getting the correct version of O.S. is a significant issue as well!
Decent video and appraisal of the new Macbook Pro Jerry. I got the binned M2 Pro 14’ back in April, very very happy with it.
However, wished I upgraded the storage to 1TB.
These apple silicon macbook are different class.
They really are! I found for me 2TB is the sweet spot.
Going for the base model with 16gb of ram. Speed is more than good enough for me since I don't do anything intensive. I've had my 12" MacBook since early 2016, so an upgrade is long overdue. And I see this as a good time. Plus I am a student so there is the discount as well.
Will be a masssssive upgrade!
How much is the student discount?
@@DeejayJimmy90 Usually 10% although it varies a lot depending on the product. Before I saw it was 6% on MacBooks, so not entirely sure it's the exact same this year too.

That’s what I did . Went with 16gb ram . I am thinking should I keep the base version or spend even more to upgrade to the next level processor. Mine will be some video editing and just light use . Nothing heavy
I ordered the base model with 8 gb of ram as soon as pre orders where available the one with 8gb of ram but it should be fine for me since I mainly do email, browse the web, and watch content. Also I got 100 dollars of the price by pre ordering at best buy
That's a terrible deal, because for $200 more you get 50% increase in both CPU and GPU, 2GB of extra ram, dual cooling system, extra thunderbolt port, ability to use more than one external display. Just the CPU and GPU increase in the PC would would cost you way above what apple is charging. For the love of god just get the real Pro machine.
This not only replaces the 13 pro but will affect sales on the 15 Air especially the one to get the 512 gig, which is now the same price as the 14 M3 base model, which offers far more value for money.
I watched until the end because you said at the start of the video that I had to stay tuned to find out the issues you had with it. Just for clarity, were you referring to the wrong OS getting shipped with it? I was fully expecting something about performance problems due to it only having 8gig of ram. I would have loved to have seen a direct comparison between the 8 gig and 16 gig base model.
Yes the OS is the issue, sorry to disappoint. I am not sure I can afford a 16gb model also but I also am curious about the comparison.
That is a step up from the 13" touch bar version.

I'm about to buy a MacBook Pro M3 base model, I’m not a heavy user, only use my MacBook for online Zoom classes and a little browsing. Do I need 16gigs ?
If you plan on having this machine for years, yes get 16gb.

Me too. I don't have an upgraded Air right now.
I feel like this is a hard sell, even if you spec it with 16GB memory you may as well jump up to the M3 Pro and get a better CPU/GPU that comes with 18GB memory for not much more.
I feel like this needed to come with 16GB at this price point to stand out, but I guess that's how Apple gets you they make people spend the most possible money for their respective budget.
