  • After running an S1000XR on the road, we decided to find out how it compared to the S1000RR on track, and answer the question, do you really need a full-on sportsbike to go quick on track?
    So we borrowed a racetrack, the bikes and someone with the skills to ride both bikes back to back in a time trial race to see, just how good is the S1000XR on track?
    No animals were harmed in the making of this video, but we did wreck two GoPro cameras!

      The question is which one to get :) My body likes the XR and my heart the RR.

    Just bought the '20 XR and went on a ride with '19/20 RR owners. Had plenty of compliments and a ton of envy at the end of the day when i was ready for another 9 hours.

    This is a VERY skewed "comparison" video in favor of the XR. It appears that either the tester was sandbagging on the RR or simply didn't know what he was doing. As if the granny shifting wasn't enough, the RR was left in Sport Mode. If you are taking an RR to the track, ESPECIALLY for a comparison, Slick mode should be engaged. If a person chooses to pick the XR over the RR based on THIS video and track performance, you have been mislead. XR is a fantastic bike by any means. But this video is borderline trolling.

      Not really.... This track just plays to the XRs powerband... IMO... even then 1 second is still a big difference in racing.
      The point of the video was to state if you can go fast on the track too.
      Long story short... If you're a competent rider you'll kill the majority of 600cc bikes and will probably slay a few 1000cc riders too.

    Christ lad I'm chuffed you even bothered watching my video now, this is professional level stuff!! Great video and I'm actually not surprised after riding the XR it was as close as it was!
    Thanks again for watching and dropping me a link to this! I must sort my life out and get racing bikes on track too!

      Cheers mate, I was very lucky in that I had a lot of people who knew what they were doing help me put this together. Life took over afterwards the way it does sometimes but slowly slowly getting back into things, hence the new (but much less polished) videos going up lately

    Great video nice see this quality from a irish channel, how do you find Mondello as a track? One thing on the XR it still looks like an old mans adventure bike, you can't beat the looks and confidence a Sportsbike gives

    • @TrooperTed
      @TrooperTed  Před 7 lety +2

      We've a big soft spot for Mondello here in the office, its tight and technical which allows smaller bikes more chance as the 1000's struggle to put down full power. Keep an eye on the channel, we've videos from Donnington Park in the UK and Cartagena in Spain coming soon!

      You won't be, the upright seating position, the wider bars, the earlier torque curve, combine all these & you'll find yourself going faster on the XR on some roads!
