Do it soon! My friend (who owns the bike in this video) dropped the bike at an intersection a couple weeks ago. One of the Barkbusters took the full impact and just has some minor scratches in the plastic. He said he probably would have snapped off the clutch lever without them. The rest of the bike was saved, which really surprised me but I think we will be adding more armor on his bike for off-road riding. These Barkbusters (not a sponsor) are incredibly strong and a great addition to a new bike. Thanks for watching!
Paint wont stick very well but maybe there is some kind of dye that might work? I think you can purchase just the plastic parts as well, which would be a lot easier.
Great video! I am trying to install a Renthal Fatbar replacing the stock handlebar on my G310GS. The screws supplied with the Barkbusters aren't long enough to go through the stock bar ends. I am not able to remove the screw receivers (don't know what you call them) in the stock handlebar ends. The 1:49 mark on your video. So I assume that I have to go the hardware store and buy longer screws to go through the ends of the Barkbusters, through the bar end and then expand to the inside of the Renthal Fatbar - without the little screw receiver part that is stuck in my factory handlebar. Does this sound right? Renthal Fatbar 1 1/8 in. (28.6mm) diameter at clamping area; 7/8 in. (22.2mm) at the ends with .197 in. wall thickness
When you say bar ends, are you talking about the weights that I removed? I'm not sure I understand. I didn't put the bar end weights back on if that's what you mean.
@@EndlessMoneyPits That's correct the bar end weights but I see now you did not put them back on. I was wondering how much of a difference bar ends weights make as I am debating putting mine (back) on or installing the Barkbusters withOUT the bar end weights. Nice job on the video.
My theory is that the extra weight and structural stiffness from the Barkbusters will be more than enough to compensate for the loss of the bar end weights. I installed these before the owner got to ride the bike much so we can't really compare, but he hasn't mentioned any vibration issues. I think you'd have a hard time making them fit properly if you put the weights back on too, but let me know what you decide to do. I'm curious to know if that would fit.
@@marchufnagel9068 there are replacement bar weights with the Kit. Why can’t you use the existing hardware. Just remove the bar end screw put the bark buster on and reuse the screw or use a longer one.
Matt says he bought them from Rally Raid, but later he found out they are cheaper from Revzilla. Looks like Rally Raid has a photo of black bars but Revzilla shows aluminum. Revzilla also offers more colors for the plastic parts, so they may be a different model - I'm not completely sure.
Ok you make life too difficult for yourself. Simply leave the inner weights inside and go get a countersunk M6 60 screw to fit the stock inner weight. Then using the new screw, the guard and the weight and single spacer the job is done in 1 minute. Don't over think this simple installation.

How different is the counter weight? Is less or more heavy? I'm concerned about this because this mode can affect the handling causing vibration
Didn't notice any difference. The weight of the handguards is a good substitute for the bar end weights.
Are these the cb500x specific hand guards or the universal?
This kit fits the CB500x and a few other bikes, but it is not universal for all bikes. The BarkBusters website will tell you which kit you need.

Did you notice an increase in vibrations with not having the bar weights in any longer?
No, not at all. There is a lot of mass to these hand guards which I think helps take the place of the bar end weights as far as vibration dampening.

Where exactly did you order from? Want the black aluminum part most are silver.
