Oil Quality After Two Years? - BMW Oil Analysis PART 2
I want to give you a hige thanks for this video. Im not a computer geek whatsoever, and with your help, i was able to connect to my sons e46. Now, i need to learn how to use inpa. I have an e92 m3, so i know this covers it, but what program do i need for our f15 x5? I'm so thankful that I decided to subscribe to your channel
Thank you for the kind words! I don't have much experience using this software so I can't give advice on that but hopefully someone else will chime in with a good answer. You might also try joining a forum dedicated to your car which would give you access yo a wealth of information.
With so many comments on this video I am certain that this has been addressed but I'll say this anyway, the oil you're using is not the oil you should be using. Your car specifies BMW LL-01 specification and while Castrol does sell oils that meet this specification, the Edge 5W-30 'us' that you're using is not one of them. You should look for the Castrol Edge products that state that they're A3/B4 rated and not 'us' after the viscosity grade. To be specific - Castrol Edge Euro Car 5W-30 A3/B4. It's sold at Walmart. The differences between the "us" and "A3/B4" are staggering.
Yes. I'm currently running these tests again with the correct oil.
Watch Part 2 here: czcams.com/video/yn7g0pv2bYk/video.html
Awesome. I gunna do this too. Thx.
Nice! You'll love it.
Thanks, helped me work out why I couldn't get the door release to fit properly!
I'm going to replace mine every 3000 miles or every 3 years
SOS 😂 can’t get the dang bottom wire off
Good reason to buy more tools.
Man, a huge thank you from Strasbourg, France. You helped me so much ❤
Cutting the plastic wasn't necessary tho
I change my Mobil 1 0W20 every morning before breakfast - should I also change my filter on a daily basis ?
If you aren't using a steel mesh filter you're a fool.
@@EndlessMoneyPits - phew, thankfully I decided to go with platinum...
Is there a mount i can use for my scooter? I finally took off the solid top just to find no hole. Its like a VERY tiny spot for a screw im pissed asf.
Check the quad lock website. They have a lot of options for all sorts of vehicles. I'm pretty sure they have a handlebar mount.
what genius idea to mount the alternator in such a way that it serves as a belt tensioner. Good vid. Im getting one of these bugs.
It used to be a lot more common. Modern cars are getting overcomplicated.
in the video you said it was only overheating w the a/c on , did you replace or test any other thing prior to replacement. going through the same issue at the moment
I checked the fan fuse but that's about it. The fan should always be on when the AC is running, or at least cycling on and off. People online told me the fan never goes bad but I couldn't find any other leads so I replaced it. Luckily, they were wrong and a new fan fixed the problem.
Oil is cheap engines are expensive’
When i open inpa, it only says info and script. No models like this
I have bmw1M my right rear break is fine when i leave home but as soon as i break it starts to grab if i stop for long enough its seems to free itself would this be a similar problem to yours. thanks michael
It sounds like the brake piston isn't moving freely, so it could be the same problem as mine.
Sir, plz check your email
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Came for the motorcycle information, but was pleasantly surprised to see Evergreen at the end!
I lived in Lafayette for 25 years until recently. Thanks for watching!
So you have to buy a case as well?
A case or an adapter.
Reduce coolant temperature and forget for expansion tank replaceing :) !
C & S Corvettes has/sells the right set WITH the adapter....the WHOLE kit is only TWO components....The adapter and the mast....mine cost $75.00 - delivered! ....This kit is for the CONVERTIBLE ONLY!!....Jim.
Thank you! I'll find the link and add it to the video description.
@@EndlessMoneyPits You are welcome....and thank YOU for the "14 mm wrench size" info to remove the locking nut....Jim
With regard to NCS Expert/INPA, this is without a doubt the best instructional video and software download on CZcams. I have tried several and never found as complete, smooth and flawless install. Thank you for and excellent video.....
Thank you. I've been meaning to make more videos about this software but just haven't used it much yet. I'm always open to suggestions for video topics too.
Might be a bit late to the party, but I hope this comment helps some people. Customers of mine have their alternators replaced/upgraded frequently, if the bottom piece connecting with a bolt has a bigger gap than the alternator that was pre-installed in the car, you can use washers to the size of the bolt, and fill in that gap, works wonders and is very secure so long as you tighten properly.
I thought about that but you run the risk of cracking the cast alternator housing if the washer setup isn't perfect (this is a DIY channel for novices). It can also alter the belt alignment. Honestly, I would not trust a mechanic who takes shortcuts to make faulty parts fit.
@@EndlessMoneyPits That's usually how universal model high output alternators are installer here in the EU, my car had a P&P alternator with no changes needed, washers work fine for a couple customers with universal model alternators, my oldest one has had it for 3 years at least, but yes I see your point in what people look for.
Haha
Thank you very much! Great vid!

Swingarm service video here: czcams.com/video/0E8Urk-TQ7E/video.htmlsi=Kj9VEYlC_JvOk-O8
Nicely done, you're doing several jobs here ; the basic mechanical stuff & that of a video/editor all in one. It takes some good skills to lay it out in a way people can understand & I think you've done it well. I've not bought a bike yet but this is on my list of possible plus you never know what I come across in the used market >> one of these might be available for a fairly low price & the chain/sprockets will need to be accessed -n- changed. As you show, that's the time to go on & do the swing arm plus check the wheel bearing on an older used bike. I've not seen drum brakes in a long time but this is that time as well & I'm betting you've at least done a check-up brake video. I'll be digging thru... peace
@@user-dv7hb2sc9m Thank you for the kind words. I actually had to replace the rear brake caliper because it was damaged, so I have a video on that which includes bleeding the brake fluid. Never got around to making a brake pad replacement video but it just takes removing a couple screws. Good luck on your search for a used bike!
I appreciate what you're doing, I might know more about bikes than some guys who own them.... lol, but it's b/c of channels like you have that I've learned. An XT is not my top choice but I'll tell you that I would not be disappointed if I wind up w/ one. In fact, I liked the XT225 more than the 250, I like the 6th gear & size but I've found that many hold out for a high price when selling them. I've seen 2 & both were $3,500 or more. Way too high for that old of a bike but I'm saving money waiting. I'll get what pops up & an XT250 might be it & I think you've got one of the easier to follow methods of repair than many. I call it the way I see it..... thanks man
Those washers you questioned were for an aftermarket front bumper cover (aka bra), they are not stock.
Finally, an answer, and it makes sense! Thank you.
If the vehicle is seldom used, is the interval for mineral oil 6 months
I cover that in part 2. Check it out!
1. Thank you and I appreciate your sharing your experience. 2. My driving is probably less than 300 miles a month in retirement except for the visit to a relative about every 4 months. I drive a 2004 Toyota. No oil leaks. Type of driving? To the liquor store or super market. 3. The family has had 3 other units of the same generation of Toyota and each of them lasted more than 250,000 miles because they weren't doing the 10,000 mile oil changes and were not using synthetics. 4. The sales tax/increased registration fees, the additional types of insurance required on a newly acquired and financed car should enter into the consideration of the frequency of the oil changes. If a person goes from long commutes to short hops all of a sudden, the oil analysis done last year or two years ago will, of course, become questionable as a future guide. Just for kicks, I looked up the cost in 2015 of replacing valve seals on a Yaris. Yikes! It would be time to send it to the junk yard. With 300,000 miles and the cost of repairs, what would I do? Exactly what I did years ago in Palm Springs, Ca in the summer when the car gave up the ghost. Caught a ride back to Los Angeles. Donated the car to charity and met the charity tow service the next weekend. I drove my back up car. Make sure you either have a backup car or AAA extended towing.
The valve seals don't look too difficult to replace at home but requires a tool that costs about $100. I'll be doing them soon. Thanks for the comment!
What maintenance stand do you use?
The video shows two different kinds of stands so I've added links for both in the video description. Thanks for watching!
Good job dismounting But having the swing arm out I would remove rust and paint it Also the bolts need a good clean up w iron brush before greasing
Good suggestions.
Some guys on youtube said cams and intake make 10 more horsepower
On the 500r? I'd never heard that before.
@EndlessMoneyPits I can only find one video of a white bike on a dyno makes around the same torque but they made 62 hp It is a race bike tho
One thing I'll say is I would have changed the oil filter anyway. I see no reason not to. It's cheap, it gives me peace of mind, and I don't run the risk of leaving it in for 45000km if I mistakenly think I changed it last time and I didn't. For me changing it every time is the way.
No mention of the oil degrading from 6 months onwards. This video is on good for those that do high mileage within the 6 or so month timeframe.
Watch part 2
man, if replacing the valve seals is somthing you can do then do it, i say you even make a video out of it.
Yes, I've decided to do it. Need to buy some tools and seals but can't afford them yet.
that stupid gas spout is because of U.S regulations they pretty much have to have it. On my rotopax i've added a leak proof vent cap and aftermarket spout.
Lovely illustrations
Why my computer says in program compatibility setting that settings applied: for windows xp? Even my laptop has win7! It won't let me continue further 😢 It gives error 5: access is denied. Setup was unable to create the directory "C:\ediabas\api\exel"
Do any viewers know of an oil analysis lab in Australia that would provide this service? Thanks.
You have a garage but don't keep your car inside? Why TF not?
Only had room for one car and my motorcycles in the garage at this house. Moved to a bigger house recently and keep all 3 cars in the garages here.
Does anyone happen to know the size of the drain plug for the xt250? Thank you!
Awesome. Simple and easy to understand. Thanks
Thanks
do you fill it until it begins to leak out of the fill hole?
Yep!
@@EndlessMoneyPits alright thanks
lol who replaces those bolts on that brace
I got a lifted truck , I don’t need a floor jack 😊
How about splitting open the oil filter and spread out in a shallow black pan. Soak with a bit of thinner and then take out to air dry it. Then look for shinny metal debris. Any plan to switch to Vavoline Restore & Protect?. Regards.
I wish I had done that. Maybe I will for the next test. I haven't looked into that oil at all.
