  • Hi Guys,
This episode is about our cost of groceries in Portugal. We share with you the specific cost of our regular monthly grocery items. This will give a pretty good idea where we shop, what we buy and what we pay for groceries on Pico Island Azores, Portugal.
We also discuss some of the food we get for free; these are given to us by friends and family. Talk a bit about the old days, since of community and village.
The bottom line is that we feel Portugal is a very affordable country to travel too or to live.
We hope you like it; please click like if you do.
    Love receiving your comments.
Please subscribe if you haven't done so; help us grow our channel.
    Love you guys, Saude!

Portuguese people are awesome! They just feel good helping and giving something to others, it's just the way we are. Laura, a girl/female says "Obrigada" (a at the end) and boy/male says "Obrigado" (o at the end) Lol!!

When I am on Madeira I shop at Continente or Pingo Doce. Both have a reasonable gluten free section. I think that the prices are very reasonable compared with the UK. Local produce is a lot of times cheaper than special English brands. I always try to buy local products and also would shop for vegetables at the local markets. The only thing which is more expensive is goats or ewe cheese as I don’t tolerate dairy and also gluten free items are more expensive as in the UK for me personally as I get it free on prescription like bread, pasta, flour and cereal. I normally only buy gluten free biscuits and luxury bread. I like the little clips in between. When I finally can move to Madeira I will grow my own vegetables and fruits. Greetings from Scotland

The Dairy product is very inexpensive here in Ireland
milk 1L is euro .75 cent for the
    supermarket brand " Tesco "
    and there are other brands
    with higher prices .
How do your prices compare with the mainland ?

dairy cheese and eggs are a FRACTION of the price in Canada. Eggs just went to 4 to 7 dollars Cdn. and if you want any organic fed, free range, or other designation you're paying at least 8. cheeses of al lkinds are now 6 to 12 dollars for 200-300 grams, and yoghurt just jumped (and now never on sale) form 4 to 6 to 8 bucks. Ouch. And Canada is a dairy country.

The overall cost of living is definitely less in Portugal, especially in smaller areas like the Azores or central Portugal.

Cities tend to be more expensive. I'm sure central Portugal will be less than Lisbon. When the item is measure in kg is the amount is the same. Some items are less quantity; but not all. Appreciate your comment. Take Maria!
