- When I lost my job due to the pandemic I decided that instead of going back to my old life I wanted to try a new path which would enable me to live a more slow and simple life.
This is my story of how I changed my life from being a Whale watching guide with no experiences in taking photos or videos whatsoever to making CZcams videos for a living and how I live a fulfilled life according to my needs and in harmony with nature on a remote island in the middle of the Atlantic.

Hey everyone! I'm so sorry it took me so long to upload a new video. I have been really sick and consequently had to take a break so I could take care of myself and my health. There are very, very few people who have the courage to follow their heart in their occupation, who focus on the quality of life above the quantity of life. It’s hard because you are going against the current of humanity. But it is doable.
When we act from our heart and we look for what we want to do, it is always what we are already doing, what we are already enjoying. It’s just a matter of figuring out how we can monetize what we are already doing.
I am so glad that you turned your love into a way of life.
We don’t think about it, but if every person who watches your video, gave you 1 euro for every video that he/she watches, you would have more than enough to live.
Hello Eve. Thank you for your encouraging words. For many years it felt like I was going against the current because it was quite hard but these last couple of years living differently has become so normal that it feels much easier.
It is true, I have never thought about the 1€ theory myself, but yes you are right. But then if you had to pay 1€ for each video you watch per day, it quickly adds up.

Yes, 1 euro for every video would become expensive. however, there are channels who have many members and sometimes I think that if these members paid 1 euro every month, the creator would have enough to live off. so, it depends on the channel. There is a "rule" that goes with having "supply" . It's actually mentioned in the Bible, but it has been repeated in my recent spiritual books as well. Part of receiving abundance is giving. By giving of our time, our supply, or whatever we have, we receive. This has always been hard for me. I don't know what it will be like tomorrow or 10 years from now on, but there are certain channels and people that i feel drawn to contribute. So, I do and it is from the heart. I wish that others knew that by being open, by sharing, they are actually increasing their own supply.

Hope you have made a full recovery, Rahel - never nice being ill but, there again, perhaps the body is expressing itself in a different way. (That sounds a bit glib but I think you know what I mean).
Lovely cinematographics again, hearing and watching the rain drops on the leaves transports the viewer instantly to the spot, and the moon over the ocean and some new spots to video and, of course, the inevitable barefeet! I walk with you with every step feeling the undergrowth, the grass, the rocks, etc.! 😃
Simple can be a very fulfilling and rewarding way of Life - not for everyone as you mention but, there again, everyone is different and not everything in Life has to revolve around materialism.

I never stop think about the Azores, but things have been stopping me.
I did plan to go long time ago, but then my dog got sick, and still are, and it doesn't look good at the moment.
I must let him live as long as he can enjoy life. At this moment he ley on my foot and sleeping after getting pain killing medication. But get worse and worse, every day I wake up and hope, but it end with myself felling tears over his illness.
I will write more here .....
I'm so sorry to hear that your dog is so sick. This must be heartbreaking for you. But I'm sure that your dog very much appreciates your love and care and that it definitely comforts him to know that you are there for him every step of the way. @@RahelStadler It is with sadness I say that my dog are still sick, and have to find another veterinary, and hopefully get some other medication for him, like antibiotics for dogs, which the vet until now have not wanted to prescribe. A vet friend in Norway thought it was strange.
I planned take Pluto with me for a better life, here we cannot even go to the sea ore to a mountain without to pay for it. In the start I made it fine, but the wild nature was the best I had in Norway. If I do go out in the forest here, I can easy get shot in the head, simply because here is no law about going out in the wild. and there is also other reasons that I will leave.
But I thinking about renting something small and cheap, and don't know the prices?
I have seen on some sites, but it often use to be more expensive on rental places on internet.
But anyway, I cannot do anything before I see how it goes with my dear Pluto.
He is my closest, even I am married, for now at least.
I looked on the different Islands, and I love all, but Pico with the mountain is what I like best, I always have loved walking in mountains in Norway. Here it is so much restriction, I have to have a guide no matter, ore they say Abu Sayyaf ore other terrorist groups have been seen hiding up in the mountains, I must do something. I was a slim man before, now I have gone up 15kg.

Hi Rahel, it gives great pleasure to notice that a young person like yourself takes satisfaction of the simplicity of life. The surroundings of Pico have much to offer. Most of our human companions are addicted to consumption.
I was last week in Faial (and Pico) were i and my son appreciated the nature... The beauty of natures creation.
Before we went, a friend of my gave my an old article (traveller from national geographic), about whale watching on the azores. They were in Pico 2019, and a few times they mantioned a Rahel that was guiding them...... That only ment that was you...... i suppose.??

Living in the Açores can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Although you are surrounded by nature's beauty unspoiled, you also are very limited to modern day conveniences many people take for granted. It's all about perspective and desires I suppose. That's a good question, Linda. I don't know how to answer it though. I feel like finding your kind of people here is as difficult or as easy as anywhere else. It depends on what or whom you are looking for, I guess.
