#onthespot very disappointed with the discussion on urwa's post. Not logical or respectful in terms of the language used and the implications associated to the post. Rating actors is wrong. Period. It should be called out. Why is she wrong for saying that hearing hurtful statements by her director didn't have any impact on her mental health? Just because Hassan is now a host of a talk show, will he always be so defensive about the horrible format being followed? There are good examples out there also.

There is nothing wrong in taking stand for yourself #urwahocane was so right and everyone has right to speak their heart out whatever they feel. She is an actress and if directors come and talk that she has so 'nakhra' on set and difficult to work with then it's definitely affect her mental condition coz it can affect her work and people think may be she is difficult or had bad attitude so she puts her side of story then what's wrong in it ... I find nothing wrong in her post . And it's not Fahad fault it's the writer and production who create controversy and even Fahad tried to make Nadeem 's comment light by saying "itni khoobsurat hai nakra to Banta hai " .

Oh wow. Considering tuning out after amna said she’s “played the woman cared and mental health card”. How can anyone say that hearing something about yourself that you don’t think is true won’t affect your mental health? Why is giving yourself importance being potrayed as a bad thing? Like the tone when amna said “she takes herself seriously”? When as a woman you are being dismissed every other day, who determines when that was not the case??

Agreed. Extremely disappointed. Felt like I was watching that show on galaxy Bollywood. The reason behind this can be the deep-rooted misogyny not only in males but also females where anyone complaining abt such issues is labeled as "playing the woman and mental health card." The irony is they said it's okay for Nadeem Baig to voice his opinions but when Urwa did while explaining the whole incident which happened behind the scenes she was apparently "taking herself too seriously."

Disappointed in you saying that Urwa played the woman card or mental health card! Urwa’s note was very decently written & like she said she had kept quiet in respect for Nadeem Baig all these years. She must have felt disrespected & ignored when she had expressed her opinion about dance moves which she found uncomfortable so she should have been heard. But she eventually followed her director’s orders, for which she faced trolling too. But now Nadeem Baig brought it up publicly so she has a right to say something. She is absolutely right in this case.
Yes I agree that such questions are wrongly asked, but if they are answered & people are named, they have the right to object. Nadeem Baig could have tackled the question differently.

So disappointed with the double standards regarding urwa and Nadeem Baig. What urwa said is true because as women we face that every day...if Nadeem Baig is not to be blamed for voicing his opinion then why Urwa? We should stop putting a name on people's emotions. If she felt that way then she did and there should be a discussion agreeing forward from that. Ayeza Kubra and other actresses might have felt their opinion be respected but Urwa might have not. Wow. About your discussion on the format of these talk shows, looks like amna did not watch the recent episode of the talk talk show with yumna wahaj, where they were asked to rate their colleagues on acting. Both of them were just giving out numbers, and Hassan, would comment and try and compare their ratings and question them about it rather forcefully. He asked Yumna why she gave Hania a lower rating than Ushna, and further arguing that even Sarah is senior. He did something similar when Wahaj gave a higher rating to Fahad over Humayun. It was fairly obvious he was trying to start something, it was cringey.
And even before watching this Haute bites, I knew you guys wouldn't say a word against Nadeem Baig, because those aren't the feathers you would like to ruffle. So of course, it would be Fahad who is to blame.
There was no coherence and logical flow to your discourse for that segment, because it was very obvious, who you could criticize and who you wouldn't dare. Disappointed at the double standards.

Instead of making it a bit Ramadan focused and having some respect and acknowledgment of it, they are instead creating dance numbers of the OSTs?! And ofcourse any decent Muslim with respect for Ramadan who takes part in this month would and usually does stop listening to music. If I living in a western country being a young girl can stop listening to music then should be easier for people in a Muslim country like Pakistan. So no I do not agree with the point Amina made that people don’t stop listening to music? Yes most do and they should if they don’t ! People, especially the liberals focus on hi fi sahoor and iftaar parties, new clothes, decorations etc. but are more and more forgetting about the essence of ramadan. Anwer Maqsood's few question were controversial like he asked Mahira that does ISPR give money (indirectly hinting at that scandal) and then he referred to Maryam(s) in some other context. But we should not forget that he is from the generation that was very much vocal about political issues on mainstream media. His play "Aangan Tehra" addresses many things sarcastically.
And how these two had response from senator is exactly why celebrities like to play dumb. Mahira too said in the same show that an actor suggested me that why you tweet about social issues, just entertain people (just because of such responses). Our low-class politicians would never learn to respect others. The only respectful women are Maryams for PMLN and Bushra Manika for Khan sb. Also from Canada and I agree! I admittedly enjoy the dramas because it’s at least positive content, but I try my best to watch them after Ramadan. I think the conversation actually extends to how Muslim immigrants to western countries can actually be more religious than those in Muslim countries. In my personal life, we were raised with Islamic values engrained into our daily lives, and I think it was almost something immigrant parents do to try and preserve culture and religion. As kids we were constantly taught to raise our future generation as steadfast Muslims to keep Islam alive in our family, especially living in the west. So maybe because of this mindset (alhamdulillah) we’re finally seeing some positive changes in western Muslim communities! There was a time when Ramadan sales weren’t a thing here in Canada, but now they’re at every big store

nobody has to watch all 5 dramas or even 1 play. Factually, most people after Iftar & Namaaz etc. need a bit of reprieve, want something light to relax & bring a smile. It's all great on paper but reality is we can pray, fast, etc. AND watch a 40 minute episode of anything of our choosing or not. Also, when one lives in a western coutry one has to actually make an effort to preserve their religon & culture as every thing around is non Muslim, be it the neighbours, colleagues , classmates, the mindset, the culture etc. etc.

The producers are in it for the money so it is up to the everyone else to take some ownership. So while there is choice, preference is given to the religious aspect.
