@@ARR-57 Indeed, he died of it a little over two years from this concert. More amazing is that he had the wind to play after - as reported in many places - being a chain smoker for many years. He left quite a legacy and sounded great in so many settings - as this duet with acoustic guitar shows!
Maybe playing saxophone from early years strengthened his breath. Maybe was the thing that gave him resistance to breathing issues. Perhaps extended his life
Very good..and good, beautiful play on tenor saxophone !! Mr.Joe Henderson was born 1937, and passed away in 2001. If so, he lived only 64years....I'm sad to hear..
Probably one of the most moving renditions of this beautiful tune; No artifice disturbs the emotion felt while listening to this solar version. Thank you Mr. Scofield and Mr. Henderson...
..luv Joe's work...i think he's far underrated and underappreciated...glad so many here get it... 😎
Ah, the soulful tenor of Mr. Henderson.
Hard to imagine that a man like Joe, who had emphysema, could perform so well on an instrument requiring good breathing to play.
Wow... didnt kno he had emphysema...luv Joe's work...i think he's far underrated and underappreciated...glad so many here get it... 😎

So touching ! He expresses the true feeling of this song.
Joe the tenor master

@RensStella Absolutely. My pleasure. And wow! you met Joe Hen. Someday I'll hang with Sco. I hope.
HB Joe Hen

dat guitar solo
OMG
Sco should play more nylon string.
Listen to Sco's album "Quiet"
damn
always calming to hear that even the best sometimes have tuning problems...;-)
@emmadetten About Kapteinar's comment, he probably misspelled It*. Makes sense doesn't it?
because he is playing way off mic... listen to Joe on his albums. He has the "purest" tenor sound ever. No one sounds as smooth and creamy as his tone
