Sick tune. Wonderful triadic feelgood almost countryish solo section. This way of getting around the song does include the use of a fair number of open strings; old man Sam might not have approved

The great anhedonia anthem by Billy “the kid” Strayhorn. Both Peter and Bill stays out of time all through the song and it sounds like a zillion bux. And, it means that it may make sense to try to do something slightly different with the tune... a little wee bit of variation would be to go into time after the verse, so that’s where I’m taking it

The record Taming the Dragon is so cool. And this hummable song still has a bit of that delightful Bradsterish cerebrality; it's in 5, and there's some wholetone stuff going on too. What's not to like. TC looper and my trusty 1964 gibson es 335

A really sweet song. Just to take a little bit of that melancholic sweetness off I'm swinging it. The sound sucks for added authenticity. Authenticity, by the way, is the capital city of Hibernation. Don't sail too far away.

from a gig last year. The crowd is definitely more noisy than on Bill Evans' Vanguard recordings, but well, that's authenticity. It gets better after a few minutes. We're playing at maybe Copenhagen's nicest little jazz room, the Bobibar. Smoking strongly recommended. My man Jess' voice is sweeter than Kurt Elling's. According to me.

Joe got what a lot of the younger guys today dont get. Music has to breath its not all about playing a 100 miles an hour. Joe was a True Master and one of the Very Best Ever.
i saw Joe Pass in a popular jazz club in 1986. He was awesome! He talked to the crowd of his usage of bar chords and other was he plays. really generous of him for guitar players or not. I love how he just knows where his hands are going to spots without. Looking .Always knowing whats going on. Just in touch with that instrument great!

Brilliant guitarist. If I can ever afford another guitar, I may get a Tele (because they're really cool and sound nice. Unfortunately, I don't think it will make me play any better, lol. Nor would chewing gum.)

Ah, a Tele with a humbucker in the neck position, the perfect jazz machine although I've heard a normal single coil Tele and struts doing the same thing.

My grandmother is his sister I have his harmony amp from 1962 given to me by my dad I like to play through it.
By effortlessly resorting to a wide palette of guitar techniques and chordal vocabulary, you play this complex piece with a very natural flow. Plus, your legato on this fabulous Gibson is outstanding. Bravo!

Joe was one of my closest pals in the 60s when we both lived in Brooklyn. We would often play guitar together. Even when he was gigging 5 and 6 nights a week he never showed any reluctance to jam with me. I learned so much about music from Joe, but he gave me the best piece of advice I ever had. Wear moleskin pants he told me. You’ll never regret it. I’ve been wearing them ever since. Comfortable and durable. Fantastic leg-wear and I believe their anti-viral properties protected me from Covid 19. Thanks to you, Joe.
