I forgot his name, but the actor that played as Count Dooku in Star Wars and Saruman in Lord of the Rings, all those fighting techniques, that was all him. No second person and he was in his early 90s at that time before he passed away. Now THAT'S a healthy and well fit elder

They're not trapped, it was implied that Krampus monitors every household to make sure families still uphold the spirit of Christmas. If they don't, then he'll start the horror show

That had a sadder ending that if the Krampus just beat Santa to death with a crowbar.
If the director was going for a sad ending he did a good job it's still scary as fuck but filled with sorrow when you think about it.
