    I always felt terrible for his grandma. All these years, she regretted and wished that she could take her wish back. Couldn't blame her because it was probably the end of WW that people were starving and they all failed to teach her about giving and sharing hope on Christmas. To me, it was just out of anger that was it but she came slowly realized that the true sorrow was that she has no family to be with on her Christmas day.

      It started with the wind, on a cold night, much like this. It was almost Christmas, but this Christmas was darker, less cheerful. But I still believed in Santa, in magic and miracles, and the hope that we could find joy again. But our village had given up on miracles, and on each other. They had forgotten the spirit of Christmas, the sacrifice of giving, and my family was no different. I tried to help them to believe again, but we were no longer the loving family I remembered. They too had given up. And eventually, so did I. And for the first time, I didn't wish for a miracle. I wished for them to go away. A wish I would come to regret. And that night, in the darkness of a howling blizzard... I got my wish. I knew Saint Nicholas was not coming this year. Instead, it was a much darker, more ancient spirit. The shadow of Saint Nicholas. It was... Krampus. And as he had for thousands of years, Krampus came not to reward, but to punish, not to give, but to take. He, and his helpers. I could only listen as they dragged my family into the underworld, knowing that I would be next. But Krampus did not take me that night. He left me, as a reminder of what happens when hope is lost, when belief is forgotten, and the Christmas spirit... dies.

    In the early 70's, my grandmother first told us a story , "Soap Sally". Grandmother slept over many nights with us and always told us stories. Soap Sally was a mean, old, and scraggly woman and carried a tote sack on her back. She walked the neighborhood nightly, knocked on doors, and asked parents if they had mean kids. Of course, my mother gave my older brother, myself, and the youngest, David, to Sally, also our two cousins.
    (Annette is a demon's spawn) Soap Sally took us all to her old shack deep in the woods, shoved us in a fenced in area to fatten us up to feed her mean old husband.
    Our cousin, the oldest of all , always had wire cutters to set us free.
    To me, this is the
    "original" Krampus.

      It may very well be. I'm not certain of it, but I recall that the original writing for the Wikipedia article (and a few small promotions for the film) did mention that Grandma Omi was a survivor of World War II. Given her German accent (and the fact that she speaks German earlier in the film), it isn't much of a stretch to think she lived in Germany, past the end of the war, when her country was trying to rebuild. Plus, as an aside, the van she got bread from was a Red Cross van- humanitarian aid for the war, anyone?

    You know when I saw this scene and when Omi began to tell her story and the origin of Krampus to her family, I kinda feel sad and sorry for her when she was a little girl because her parents, her village people and town had giving up on Christmas Eve because something went wrong around their village and it turned into a nightmare and it's almost like there wasn't any joy of happiness around Christmas Eve. But Omi still believed in Santa Claus and miracles but it turns out there wasn't going to be any miracles or Christmas and when her parents had an argument the mother ripped off Omi's Santa Claus doll because it's almost like they're saying that they are done with Christmas and there's nothing left for them to do and they don't have anything to believe and to be happy anymore. When Omi pick up her Santa Claus doll she threw it in the chimney because she's giving up too as well because it's over for her, her parents, her village people and her town. Until one night something big and terrifying came to her house and it was Krampus the ancient demon and alternate dark shadow of St. Nicholas. Krampus came to punish the people that doesn't believe Christmas anymore and he brutally attacks Omi's parents in way that they should be punished for not believing in miracles and Christmas no more. But then when Krampus began to leave he left a little bell for Omi in a way that will be something to remember him. But now after many, many and many years later he has come back to finish what he started from the beginning but Omi thinks that all of this was her fault because she was the one that made Krampus to appear and she feels responsible for that but now he has come back to finish what he started by kidnapping and to punish her other family.

    • @kryptonianpowers
      @kryptonianpowers Před 3 lety +8

      I think the reason Omi's parents and her village, whether it was in Germany or Austria was suffering from World War II and the war destroyed everyone's spirit, even after the war ended, they couldn't bring themselves happiness during Christmastime because whatever it was Nazi Germany did to them probably left a psychological scar that would never heal.

    • @raphaelralph6521
      @raphaelralph6521 Před 3 lety +4

      Actually the reason krampus came this time is quite similar to omi's situation she gave up on Christmas and so did the last boy who believes in Christmas, theres no finish what he started because krampus has been doing that for centuries it's just a coincidence that omi's grandson did the same thing at Christmas
