Thank you, this is very encouraging!
Thank you very much for sharing this.
I hope my experience is as easy as this video. This helps though, I was wondering how to cut the grout. This video shows another way to go about it. 😂 😊
Good morning ☕️ thank you. We will be here to help answer questions as you work through it. Dremel tool was a must for us in this project.
Let us know if you have any questions. 👍🧰
Some towns (like mine) have free toilet disposal, Last time I looked, they had a large dumpster with open doors half filled with toilets, Just drive up and dump yours in. Also, when I replaced mine, I just put it out with my garbage, and they picked it up.
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Hope your DIY project went well. 😎👍
You were lucky with yours. I was just working on mine and found out the hard way that mine was set below the tile level then grouted! Broke when I tried dislodging it and had no choice but break the bottom off. The rest of the toilet came off mostly in one piece. Just be aware of Le Toilet Surprise.
This is what I’m dealing with and this video didn’t help :-/
Thanks!
Good morning ☕️ this means the absolute world to us to see that you shared a (SUPER THANKS).
That is extremely kind of you to do, thank you. Please reach out to us anytime you have any questions. 🧰
That’s unbelievable that someone would grout a toilet base like that. Mind blown.
Thanks for watching, we were happy to get it fixed the right way. 😎👍
Down here is SW Florida..?...90% of them are...drives me crazy...had to break several with hammer very slowly...fearing ceramic pcs falling into drain...some broke tile loose from floor..sucks...

Thanks for watching, that’s no fun. Dropping broken debris down into the plumbing is not what anyone wants.
😎👍
Lennar Homes in Florida applied grout around all three of my toilets, and initially, I was concerned about having to chisel it away. Luckily, I stumbled upon this video. Hoping that the same method will be just as effective in my situation with rocking it back and forth to free it without it breaking the tiles or toilet.
I’m going to start grouting them. Every toilet I’ve had develops a rock over time which causes leaks and / or breaks the flange. Grouting eliminates that. I’ll leave a gap in back in case there is a leak.
Thanks for this video! I have a toilet mortared to a tiled floor I'm getting ready to change and I was going to start chiseling the mortar with a flat head screwdriver but your way is much easier! What are the chances of this video popping up!!!
Thats awesome. this is a friendlier project than you think. Let us know if you have any questions.
Plumber here, I hope you didn't end up doing this. Depending on the tiles, how they were installed, and any age/settling, this is known to pull up tiles off the floor
@@michaelhiggins4551 I removed the toilet yesterday and it worked effortlessly. Tiles are 8x16. The glaze on the toilet and on the top of the tile prevented the mortar from adhering good. If the tiles were small and without glaze I guess what you said could happen.
Wow thanks!!!!
Did you get the tank parts off of it
I like the floor!!!
It definitely has grown on me...🤔
Don’t understand if the floor was level why did they use the tile piece under flange?
Thanks for watching, a very odd way of putting the finishing touches on the toilet install…we are still asking that same question…🤣
But it’s all fixed now and fixed the proper way. 👍
Just use a plunger my guy. Pushed the water out of the trap
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts. Always welcome here.
😎👍🧰
You are lucky that grout was used around the base of the toilet. I need to replace a toilet with what it looks like cement around the base. Bracing myself to start this project of replacing the toilet which I am afraid may turn into replacing the tiles because this cement is as hard as a rock. How could one humane being do this to another?!
Thanks for watching, hopefully not. Hopefully the material applied will break up in a friendly manner…fingers crossed…
Looking forward to hearing back from you. 😎👍
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Update: I bought a chisel and this wonderful tool did a miracle! I was able effortlessly scrap the rock-like material, whatever it was, of the unharmed tiles. I really appreciate your video! Thank you, Michael!

You definitely deserve that amazing and rewarding feeling one gets by successfully completing a DIY project.
Enjoy it, and hopefully it paves the way for a stress-free and fun weekend!
😎👍
Isnt there a solution to solidy the water instead of sponge?
Thanks for watching, sponge seems to be the way most use. There’s definitely other options available however we have only used sponge approach.
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders what I used in the end anyways even after putting a packet in. And used a metal chisel w a hammer. Easy peasy
