    Viewer Question:
    Jax R - Hi John, I know Morbius is hated by almost everyone, even people who like the venom movies. Me, I personally like the film and want a sequel BUT............ The screenwriter for Morbius is writing Madam Web. This is very concerning coming from the writer, he has credits that are filled with anti-masterpieces and I don't know if this writer is a good choice for this movie. Thoughts?

First they couldn’t even promote Morbius without Spider-Man references and then they lie about it in the end, next where are the deleted scenes for No Way Home in the Blu-ray? Do we really need a Madame Web movie? Are they going to use her to snatch MCU Spider-Man like they did with Vulture, when NWH clearly establishes his home is in the MCU? Then they’re going to make a crappy sinister six with lower-tier villains to me, that won’t be sinister if all of them keep becoming anti-heroes and have no definitive reason to fight Spider-Man in the first place.

    my question is, why Madame Web?
    She is a completely secondary character, and it reminds me of a phrase by Jack Kirby that I read years ago and came back to light with the Eternals movie.
    "One day Stan asked me to create some characters because he had a story that he didn't know how to finish it, and in one night I created the eternals with a story that didn't even convince me, I presented it to Stan and he loved it, he told me this is the filling I need."
    That is the existence of eternals, filler characters to explain things when the writers don't know what to do.
    Madame Web is exactly the same, but with less interest, less appearances.
    A precognitive and clairvoyant mutant, elderly and with a medical condition that has her connected to a life support system that looked like a spider web, that's all the resemblance she has to a spider. And his appearances, the very few, were to help spiderman in kidnapping cases.
    She never fought against villains, she never saw any action.
    So, why Madam Web?

    • @bake-danuki661
      @bake-danuki661 Před 2 lety +1

      @@TacticalDimples the same cannot be said, guardians helped Shepard Marvel's cosmic comics throughout the late 2000s and were part of many major events that shaped the cosmic universe for years. Plus it's just an overall fantastic comic run, they were relatively unknown characters, but they were never filler characters who existed to support other more popular heroes.

    • @emoney6692
      @emoney6692 Před 2 lety +1

      @@TacticalDimples That is not at all a like-for-like comparison. The guardians were lesser known yes, but they were not secondary characters in their own stories. • @joriei
      @joriei Před 2 lety

      @@TacticalDimples I agree that the guardians when they began their adventures in the comics were not the most popular, even now it could be said that they are still like the underdog. But without a doubt they are much better known, as a group and individually, having appearances in great sagas today.
      In these past years I have not read much, because let's be honest, the comic industry is dying, but the last thing I remember is Starlord in old man logan, at times he leads the entire saga leaving logan in the shadows.
      (edit) - Gamorra in the last Infinity saga "reboot" like or not, her character is god damn well done.

    With all due respect to Mr. Campea, based on the history we've seen with Lucasfilm, 20th Century Fox, DC and yes also Sony, I think you really need to wrap your mind around the idea that just because you can make a good or even great movie here and there doesn't mean you know how to make a good franchise. And in the case of Morbius based on what I hear, haven't seen it, sounds like this movie was super chopped up, so I wonder in failing to make a good franchise how much did they also hurt the task to just make a good movie in the process?

      I reckon it was chopped up because of NWH. Tyrese doesn't even have a bionic arm like he does in the trailers. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless were the showrunners and writers of Lost in Space so they are obviously talanted writers. I wonder what goes wrong with their movies. I really liked Morbius by the way.

      Lets not forget that Morbius was supposed to come out before Venom 2 and NWH, so i think they had to re edit the film so that the film could now fit in where it is now, like Morbius was meant to release long before the multiverse arc even started, so Vulture was in the SSU for a differentt reason

      It’s reverse psychology, they pay as little as they can with the production of the movie while roll the dice on the profit they’re receiving(so far with two venom movies’ box office, they’re winning), they do their best to produce mediocre movies that critics will rail on then audience’s reaction would be “huh this isn’t as bad as I thought it would be what r the critics thinking” this is with every damn case from the Sony spinoff, I disagree with some of the critics’ reviews of movies or shows but Sony loses my trust long ago in their own production(except animation)

    The first thing the producers do is have them rewritten reinterpreted and taken apart. At the end of the day a bad movie is the fault of the Director the producer and the studio heads.
    Who can really tell how good or bad and original screenplay was before the producers and studio heads get their hands on it?
