  • Sometimes it is in the most unexpected places that the most extraordinary things are found.
    In my search for fossils, I ended up investigating a place I frequently drive by. Several times I saw what seemed to look like rocky outcrops, this day, I decided to investigate a little better and the result was spectacular !!

      @@zejurassico I was working in my yard and stopped to take a short break...dig for fossils lol. Later as I was going to put my stuff up I noticed a shell. OMG OMG OMG. It is a perfect Gastropod with the exception of the Limpit on one side. The top is perfect the bottom is perfect you can see the spiral that matches the top. It is real weird. I have been meaning to make a video of some of my real cool stuff now I have no excuse. I have been praying and thanking God and his son all afternoon lol.
      It has been too frustrating to always find a shell get all excited and turn it over and its not all there lol. I will try to catch up with you on FB love yas

    I get kinda frustrated sometimes because i feel like i can't have a video playing while i draw without losing concentration... but it's as if like you cured me! 🙉 I dug up this vid and your way of telling things made me be able to draw some fossils for my comic while still listening to everything, it was a very nice time before going to bed!! 😸 I also find your personality to be really fun and i live in Portugal too, so it's been an instant sub for me! I figured you'd like to know that your vlogs will be my go-to for when i want to unwind and multitask, so i'll be around! Cheers 🧭🦴

      Sometimes it's not the beauty of the fossil that we found. It's more the story that the fossil has, that is priceless to who had found it. It's the memory, the history... I had some fossils that are a bit ugly but they had an extraordinary history that I can tell!! 😄⛏⛏🐚🐚🐚

    Great find, what an outstanding out cropping. As a fellow fossil hunter, I'm a touch envious. Good job. The thin one is a scallop. A good solution for cleaning your fossils is white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide a 50/50 mix for soaking, but be mindful of how long.

    Well,what can you say but WOW! That appears to be a most prolific site and it is beautiful to look at through your camera.The fossils appear to be preserved differently with the actual shell material being preserved.That would be a great place to go after a rain as there is sure to be much much more to see! I had pass that place so many times by car and never stoped because It just looks like it's too easy, and never imagine what was there. What nice finds today! Love those "snails" that aren't snails, LOL, and that piece of coral is outstanding.
    As for the hunters, I know back when I was hunting, I wanted to know if people were in an area so I wouldn't hunt there--just didn't want to risk accidentally shooting someone. You might have done better to let the hunters know you were in the area, so they wouldn't shoot in your direction. IDK how they act where you are, but some hunters can be real "butt-heads", to use my children's terminology. I used to own horses and the entire west side of my property was up against a public hunting area--I always made a lot of noise to get hunters' attention so they wouldn't shoot towards the house or the horses. LOL, once I even put my stereo speakers out on the porch and turned the rock music up loud--scared the deer away. No deer, no hunters, LOL. I loved hunting and it helped feed my children, but I don't mind calling out bad behavior when I see it; shooting towards a house is just bad behavior. Anyway, just my humble opinion! LOL, good fossil hunt, thank you!

      Thanks my friend! I was in a slope, and sometimes in a hole in the hill, just ear the gun shots at a little distance. I guess here in Portugal is open season to the pigions. I understand when the hunting is done in order to have something to eat, or if the hunters kill just one wild pig and make some barbacue, but what I see is that they shoot at birds for sport, sometimes injure them or kill other species.... It just makes me a bit sad and scared. But, I' m still here!! Hehehe! I prefer fossil hunting! 😄🐚🐚🌳🌲🌲

      @@zejurassico Agreed, I'm not a fan of "trophy hunting" although I see the need in many very poor areas that need the revenue stream. Still, today, even my brother who used to hunt all the time--now we hunt with a camera! He's got some monster whitetail bucks on his property, and gets fabulous images of them with his camera. And like you, today I hunt fossils and crystals. Cheers, my friend!

    You look like a kid in the candyland hehehehehh. I want to start collecting fossils. Right now I am travelling around south america but could be an opportunity to search in different areas. I missed already the opportunity to look in some desert and mountain areas in bolivia where they have found lot os dinos and other stuffs. But I am still closer I could come back there. I was also in some different beaches aroudn the brazilian coast. Here in Brazil is not allowed to sell fossils so I think digging it up for private collection is also a problem. But I dont agree with this laws. Fossils are elements from nature, we one day will be fossils as well, perhaps we dont own nature, it owns us. I have never found a fossils so I need at least to find one so I will be motivated to look for more.

    • @zejurassico
      @zejurassico  Před 3 lety

      I happen to be very lucky to live near areas very rich in fossils here in Portugal. However I have only found fossils of the marine type and never any vertebrate. There are some laws here regarding conservationism but only in areas that are protected or if the discovery is indeed relevant from a scientific point of view. There is still some leeway for the collection of fossils and I even think that people like me who do this for hobbie contribute a lot to the interest and to conserve some items that would otherwise be lost by erosion or by the elements. Thank you very much for the comment. I'm really glad you liked it.😊🙏🙏⛏️⛏️🦖🦕🐚
