- Learn how to build a huge 4x8 CNC router, the 4x8 PRO 4896 from AVID CNC! I'll go over setting up dust collection for the CNC, getting the machine assembled, setting up Mach4, squaring the table and gantry, and tramming the spindle. In my next video, I'll show the process of setting up the vacuum workholding, as well as a t-track fixturing table, so stay tuned for that next week!

It's really awesome to see how effortlessly you mix and match installing your new CNC machine.
Congrats on checking that off your bucket list. Youâre living my dream.
Super jealous of the CNC. Great setup.
I had to smile when I saw the clamps get cut. I've had so many of those moments on my smaller CNC that its nice to know I'm not the only one!
God bless you guys who actually do the videoing of the build process. Iâm the type to be more inclined to just build any project than worry about videoing/editing & posting! đ Iâm in the process of building my second woodworking shop. We just moved to a 10 acre place on a mountain. So Iâm dividing a 36âx40â 4-car garage in half and adding an additional 10âx20â room off the back. About 920 sq ft of shop when Iâm finished. Whereâs my video camera? Not! Good luck with your CNC! LOOKS FABULOUS!
Thank you for posting this video. I'm buying the Avid CNC Pro 4896 next month after doing tons of research on buying a cnc machine on the internet, so your video is a Godsend for newbie's like me. I'm very grateful and you are much appreciated.
Would absolutely love to see how you did your Vacuum table work-holding system. Looking forward to that video very much.
Thatâs impressive piece of kit. The quality is there to see.
This was seriously fun to watch! Love your process and videos. Can't wait for the next one!
Great job. Thanks for showing all the set up. I appreciate it. Keep up the hard work.
A CNC like this is a freakin dream! I'm hoping to be building one of these one day on my channel!
What an amazingly beautiful assembly process.
Congratulations man! Very jealous.
Can't wait to see what you do with it!
Man, that thing is a beast! Can't wait to see what you make with it!
Congrats on the machine! Iâm jealous! Nice video pace for assembly. I would definitely refer to this video
Great video! Thank you. I'm wanting to get into CNC for a potential retirement gig down the road. I love your setup!!!
Literally started watching your videos today, and you're the most skilled human being i've ever seen
Seriously.
Huge fan of the AVID! hoping to get my hands on a similar setup in the future.
Now that is one hell of a CNC machine! Not in my wood working future but I can't wait to see what you make with it....đ
blows my mind how amazing this is
Awesome machine and super excited to see more videos of it. I love both CNC production videos and also the assembly/maintenance/upgrade videos.
Thanks Matt!
Congrats on the new machine.
Could you do a video of a arts list in everything you had to buy from avid to get this machine up and running
Legend. Just came across this, and I've been looking at the AVIDCNC 4x8 today!
Seeing a woodworker squaring a CNC with a measuring tape. I got the chills.
What's the correct way
@@Z-add calipers
That a great looking CNC Router.
Pretty impressive CNC, dude! đ
Congrats!!!
Stay safe there with your family! đđ
Classic first cut!
So jealous, this thing is epic!
Super impressive machine, can't wait to see your products...
Vacuum tables on CNC machines make a huge difference compared to a regular hold down table. Also calipers instead of a tape measure makes measuring and squaring stuff up on a CNC is a must.
@stephen matsler yeah i too really had a hard time switching my mind from woodworking (rules, squares, saw and chisels) to machining (calipers, feeds and speeds) ... quite a leap of faith âș
This. As a CNC machinist I can confirm
Love these CNC machines, the vacuum hold looks interesting
Not really. Vacuum hold is only okay for sign work.
Give me T Slots or give me DEATH !
Itâs a Beast. Looking forward to seeing your future updates
Now that's a CNC router .
Perfect.Thank you for this video â€ïž
This is an interesting way to setup the geometry of the machine. How about a caliper instead of a measuring tape? For trimming the spindle you usually use a dial gauge.
Very easy subscribe with this level of content, really detailed footage of how it works and is put together, thank you
Soooooo jealous! Congrats!
Awesome video. Your shop looks so nice.
Nice video man! Keep it up!
This is really interesting video! I might get CNC someday!
Great video! Your timing coming out with this video is perfect. I just received my 5x10 Avid CNC Pro in boxes but still have a couple weeks yet until I can start the build process. I'm really interested to see more on your vacuum work holding system.
How much did that kit run you?
@@MrIsaacpr7 Just over 14k
Very impressive machine. This was a fun one to watch. Congrats man!
Iâm super pumped to put it to use! Thanks
Canât wait to see the vacuum hold down system.
Same! I think it's worth half the cost of the actual CNC
Nice video man. Interested in one of these machines myself. How much space do you feel you need around the CNC to be able to work with it and load sheet goods on it comfortably?
Just in time! I'll be watching these videos closely, my Avid should be shipping next month!
Great product and great video!
Just spent the last week troubleshooting electronic malfunctions on my 20+ year old machine.
This looks like a good next step -Avid. Good tip with the locktite. Is it possible to rotate the controller
90 degrees so that you can see the ports?
such a good video. thank you!!!!
Excellent video preperation..
WOW man i wish i have just a shop like this.. i will sleep there all days ^^
If you made a drinking game, where you took a shot every time he said the word âGantryâ... youâd be died before the end of this video.
Just don't drink every time he does an annoying laugh while talking. ;)
Died
pro level is the same game but on 2x speed
Thank you for the time you put into this video. I've been reviewing options for when I purchase an AVID CNC and I notice with your vacuum holding system that you can't install a vertical table, or I don't see how you can.
Have you thought of installing a vertical table or do you have other tools for that operation? Can you install the vacuum system on the other end of the table so you could put in a vertical table and/or a rotary axis?
I need one of these as a retirement money making income toy
Love it keep going đ
Thanks for replying on Grabcad! Now I see this vid I remembering it. But didnât know it belongs to you! đđ»
What a masterpiece
Subscribed for your correct pronunciation of the letter Z......and the great vid.
wow this is awesome
Great job đ
Excellent! Thanks
lmao how you massacred the claws
About 13 weeks and I will have my 5x10. Looking forward to it.
Hey Johnny I just purchased your River resin bed frame plans, looking forward to the build. Iâm also very curious how your workflows will performe with this new CNC, Avid looks like the biggest bang for the dollar, but with the vacuum, still a good chunk money.
Love this! Proper!
I want to build this in my high school shop class. This will be a great build and better then spending 20k to buy the one they are trying to sellme.
Dang Johnny. Youâre going to need a bigger shop! Congrats
wow I like your videos, looking forward to next
This is a very high quality kit. Attention to detail is top notch. The only thing I did not like was the cut in half Y axis. I think at this quality level the owners would not mind the extra shipping cost of the longer rails.
What a gorgeous cnc. The red color seems to be your favourite and I do have to say that the red color really matches with you man . What a great video. Now I am going forward to build this cnc machine in the future thanks to your tutorial
Dammmm That is a monster.
Nice CNC & shop. Big $$$$
Would you think a common cordless drill, like the Milwaukee M12 drill, will be sufficient for your cordless ratchet?
Great job. Top
You have spec/details on that spindle? Are you running it on single phase 220 or you have 3 phases?
Muito bom parabĂ©ns đđđ
Iâm about to get my Avid CNC next week. So, I rewatched your video. I have a quick question(s). I also got a Dust Right 1250 collector. I was planning on running a 6â flex hose. How is the 4â working for you? Do you think the 6â would do better? Thanks for the advise.
Q: You use a gear rack for movement - Not anti backlash leading screw - how do you deal with the backlash in CNC ?
Sorry about your clamp but that had me dying đ
I have the exact same config coming in a few months. Just ordered. Guessing August. The waiting sucksssss.
Wow, thank you for this video!
No problem!
Mad jelly.
This really huge đđ
where did you buy those bosch like tubes? or they were all part of the same kit?
Impressive
Hey man i know this is an old video but did you have any issues with your liner rails on the sides binding the bearings at the seams? One side of my machine the rails have a really noticable bump as they pass over the seams actually stopping the bearing when i move them by hand
I needed to assemble a cnc machine
If possible, what are the parts and motors required?
awsome machine, can i ask how much u spend on it? and is there a guide to build it?
Whatâs the total cost and power requirements? Does the dust collection seem undersized for the CNC?
@11:43 that's called the full depth spindle test. Luckily you ran through the plastic parts of those clamps haha.
So nice
Nice job , im building 2 CNC they will be copy of Avid CNC
Thought the same thing when building mine, why are the connections on the bottom of the control box.
Hi, maybe stupid question but would it be possible to fit the pro4896 in a tight space so the only access is from one lenght side. Or do you need access to all around the machine
When it ran through the clamp I was LMAO as I have hit my share of screws I use to hold my pieces down.
13:10 clamps got some shaving
Damn, I want a CNC soooooo badly, but I don't have room for the size I want and couldn't afford to pay for it if I did. Mabey one day I'll have to try to find a spot for a smaller one..... that would be nice đ It's really cool to see you getting one and I'm looking forward to how you've set up your vacuum hold down system which looks really good. Keep up the good work đđđđ
What size of CNC router do you think is suitable?
Poor Clamps died a violent death!...thanks for the video, based upon my space, i am in the process of deciding what size table i want to buy.
How much did you pay for this machine again??
which software are you using to control the router ? is it possible to use Fusion 360 ? Also you are using a better spindle, with a lot more power is it more expensive ? and is it plug and play with the Avid?
i like you're video and explaining keep up the good work!
well, at least you know those are sharp when new.
