I wish these machines weren't so expensive as kits. I did a cost analysis on the AvidCNC 4x8 machine (with legs and spindle) and they are up-charging 60% if you were to source and buy the parts yourself. I ended up parting a list with similar 80/20 parts (but using 8080 instead of 4080) and a 6KW spindle and ball screws (instead of a rack and pinion drive) with a standalone 4-axis CNC controller (no PC and Mach4 required) with a Jog Pendant for less than half the price of AvidCNC's equivalent. lol I might just start selling these myself.. haha
So happy for you! Wow, this CNC machine just looks amazing!
I've had the Pro60120 for about 1 year. And I love it. Everyone got home made wood presents last year for Christmas and they truly seems to love them.
Great tutorial, nice video quality,... Thank you for taking the time to put it together for us to see! Wish you many years of happiness with this machine.
Congratulations on the New CNC it's looks promising& amazing! also Good for the new projects and helpful for your work. that was entertaining
What a amazing smart lady and such a clean organized place. Thanks for making this.
I've been watching your channel for years now. It's been so exciting to watch you and your channel grow, and now ... THIS! Congratulations and continued success to you! Avid has found a great spokesperson in you. I look forward to seeing how this new tool helps you and your workflow evolve. "We shape our tools and thereafter our tools shape us." (Father John Culkin / Marshall McLuhan) It was nice of you to show some of the chunky, sexy bits of the extrusions, brackets, fasteners, and electrical bits, and their assembly, thank you!
I have the same Avid Support is SUPER they made a hard project for a new guy to CNC simple they always have time for customers and make you feel like you are the only one
thanks AVID
Linn - You make the assembly look so easy. I always look for "no assembly required" sign ! Future project --- bicycle for August, Have fun
Great information. Can't wait to see the next video in the set up series and what you make with it.
This is so neat! Can’t wait to see what you creat with it!
You really have my Dream Shop. Congratulations!
Thank you for this video. I'm about to pull the trigger on the same setup, so this really helped. Thank you again and subscribed!!
Linn is simply the coolest woodworker on the web. I can't wait to see what kind of projects she is going to run through her Avid-CNC. BTW, I have been on the fence for exact same machine thinking the tolerances of in home assembly might echo on the accuracy of milling with it. So far so good and anxiously looking forward to learn more
Hello Linn, thank you for the over-view of your new machine. I have been contemplating the purchase of just such a machine for my own use, and doing much research to that affect recently. I have determined that I want the same size as this for the same reasons you detailed. Your presentation has answered several questions I had developed, and I would greatly appreciate more coverage of this subject as you gain practical experience with it. Best regards to you.
Great to hear, thank you!
Make sure you have CAD software and can create your models. Often I find people buy a CNC, get it set up and running with example files ... then spend months learning how to create models from scratch to feed the machine.
Love your machine!
Looking forward to seeing many complicated and fun projects!
Me too 😀
Congrats, Linn! Fantastic new toy! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Congratulations! on the new tool Linn! :) Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖👍👌😎JP
I can’t wait to see what you can make with this. Awesome projects to come
awesome rundown thank you!
CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR NEW MACHINE. HOPE YOU WILL SHOW US GREAT PROJECTS !!
Very nice set up! I had a K2 about 20 years ago but my setup never looked as good as yours, and I never really used it’s full potential. I’ve since moved into the 3D Printing area. Looking forward to seeing your future projects.
Very good and clean machine... Congratulations!
That's just so cool. Have been looking for that size bed and machinery, DIY. Can't wait to make one myself! All the best, Martin, Finland.
Good for you and AVID!
Go big or go home!! Love it, I know you will make good use of this tool. Good luck!!
Thx Darbin. You make it seem doable. I’m getting prepared to make my purchase
Awesome stuff Linn! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
So happy for you and excited about future projects. I just got a 4th axis for mine, a rabbit hole I encourage you to explore.
Fun!
I really respect your craft and commitment as a lady/woman who does these kind of work and keep going.
I've followed your page for/since as year ago and was always fascinated by the labor you out in, even at times when you were going through hardships to love ones lost(if no mistaken).
*thank you for sharing your awesome projects and creativity- 👍 👏
You have the patience of a saint , assembling that monster is not for the faint of heart. Look forward to your projects.
Thanks for sharing that, good for you!
I just finished my 5x10 set up. Getting it dialed in. Ow. Wow. What a process.
Good exploring Darbin Orvar
Wow, I still remember tabourets and chalk paint days like they were yesterday. What a trip!
😂 wow you've stuck around a long time!
@@darbinorvar hi Darvin, can you tell me where and how much cost the cnc routher machina that you built in the video please,i m very very intereted to buy one like this...
You are a real mans dream. A woman With power tools ! Great work !
Have seen most of your videos you really have the machines.
My dad and I have one of those! There are so many things to learn there!
Cool 🙂
Thank you for making this video!
Nice addition to a modern shop.
Excited to see what you do with this. Maybe I’ll have to pick one up.
i hope she carve some wood and make 6k on month to get money back.you have table cost back.not include motors and electrics.now order this lenght aluminium and linear rails and highquality ballskrew. wtf why its cost less than 6k lol. they count man hours for every single table even they mass produce some allready.making parts its cost of material machine cut it while you drink coffee
OK, I'm jealous. Currently I am building a vertical 4 x 7.5 ft self designed CNC but once I see everything coming in a complete package just seem to nice!
I just got a 5x3 CNC machine (not just, got it pre-virus, and had to put assembly on hold while printing PPE donations), so took me a few months to put it together. As I'm not a CZcamsr, so I paid for mine. Congrats on the CNC, I looked into Avid, after seeing it on a number of YT channels, but I started getting an odd feeling that no one pays for them, I haven't seen a single YT channel say, yea, I bought this Avid with my own money and it's great. I didn't have the room for something this big, so mine is not able to fit a full size sheet of plywood, but it's high end ballscrew driven (smaller size, I get more accuracy than R&P). I know you don't do any metal CNC work, so that's not going to be your use case, I do, so I wanted more rigidity, and more precision, hence all my structure is solid milled aluminum, not extrusion. Would be looking forward to what you make on this. My work holding is t-slots spaced every 6 inches of spoil board. I am also thinking of adding threaded inserts into the spoil board sections...
I agree. Much better equipment for less $ that comes assembled with proper Mach 3.
nice, jealous, nice to see your custom design clamping
This is really interesting! I wish I had the space to accomodate a full sheet cnc as well, as I'd love to (a) build it and tinker with it, and (b) use a plywood sheet and watch it produce the boards for a cupboard or a cabinet or whatever I can imaging it to make.
I'm so jealous. My Hammer B3 takes up just as much space, so no room. Perhaps I can squeeze in a 5x5 in the other half of the garage. Someday.
Very cool! Currently upgrading my wood built Gatton cnc. Looking for a good spindle. Thanks for the video!
Interesting CNC Machine! very cool
Good one
I love the machine, and working on my DIY. I hope it will be as good as yours 👍
These digital fabrication tools are amazing, I'm slightly jealous of your cnc. Currently learning Fusion360 so I can make the most of my 3d printer.
Thanks for sharing.
This is some LEGO set. Next level. All assembly required.
new toys have fun and be safe
and healthy
Good video and thank you for your efforts. What kind of materials do you use on your CNC besides wood?
Lovely video! Thx
Good video, the price of the CNC is quite high but the quality looks good. Your workshop looks too clean! I built a Mostly Printed CNC router so I think this is my current route into CNC routing and the size of yours is quite inspiring as I would love to do some big project but I'm still wrestling with creation pre-gcode side. Good luck, I'll watch with interest your next video :)
So jealous, but happy for you at the same time. I don't have the physical space for a machine like this, but wish I did.
Look forward to seeing what types of projects you come up with too take advantage of such a large scale machine.
I would go simple but with efficacy, good luck Darbin.
Nice Work!Hello From China!
Thanks for your info. Im building one 5x10 by my self cause Avid is not available here. Your video shows me exactly what aluminum extrusion i need and how to set it up
The smallest aluminum extrusion which is on top in 1:44 is 20x40 right. Or is it 40x80?
Good afternoon, good job keep it up, what is the profile size X and Y thanks in advance!
Congratulations 😍❤️💋a lot of fun with it 👍✌️Greeting from Germany
Just put together my Shapeoko XXL. Starting small and hope to one day have an AVID. Just couldn't justify the cost at this point in my hobby.
Jesus...you make it sound so simple...." my new CNC machine"...I want one.
Showwww parabéns!!!!!! Lindo ver um trabalho desse, e ainda mais feito por uma mulher num universo de porcas e parafusos, perfeito, perfeito, perfeito. Parabéns!!!!!!!!
Impressionnant ! Merci.
Very Amazing vdieo, hope you can make something more!
Okay thank you for your efforts. I can really see how it would help with repetitive work like flattening a live edge slabs. You seem to enjoy woodworking. How can a cnc help.
Great video!
Great video ,im really interested in getting a avid cnc
waiting on delivery, where did you get the deign for the dust shoe? we bought an ATC so am going to have to make provisions for that too. Looks great and can't wait
this is the dream.
Hello Linn & Family, Looks like a quality machine, should give lot's of use. I'd be interested to see what your first project is. Cooler day's after 98 degrees plus at the top of the month, about a week of hot. Be safe, all the best from Oregon, C.
Show demais!Pode ate parecer normal e assim deveria ser, mas ver uma muljer atuando nesse ramo é SENSACIONAL!
Tips from someone who's had a Pro60120 for 4+ years: Be careful not to overtighten the tension bolts on the stepper mounts, or it'll eat belts and wear down the pinion gears prematurely. There are wireless remotes with a jog dial and a LCD digital readout - they allow much more precise positioning than a gamepad. Also, consider a ProTram by Edge Systems - that tool makes accurately tramming the spindle much easier.
That's called a pendant, right?
Une très belle machine !! Ça fait envie à bientôt salut Jeannot 🛠😉
Very interesting vid!
Gr8 please show one full project.
Avid GAVE it to you ... W O W ! !
This is exactly what I need, I wonder if they made any improvements over this years models. I like to get everything I need in a kit if they provide one.
Can you measure the noise outside the workshop and does it disturb the neighbors when tern on the machine with a vacuum cleaner?
Hi Lynne, You have more screws than they used on the forth bridge and that is a lot
I was browsing the prices for these and was surprised to find they are actually quite reasonable.
WOW !! great !
Hi there. Love your content. always look forward to check your videos out. i'm getting ready to purchase an 5x5 machine in Jan 2021. I was wondering if you could answer a question. Are you are able to adjust the the feed rate while carving the project? or you have to stop the operations to adjust the G-code before running it again? Thank you.!
Thanks, in mach4 you can adjust the feed rate on the fly.
hey, amazing !!! how long it take to built this huge CNC?
You can measure the amount of dedication to your work and equipment by how many cars you have to park outside your (former) garage. . . . . ! :-)
I never could buy something like that, but it's beautiful to see.
Yeah you could. It's $6500 and you could probably make that money back in 6 months or less just making stuff for people on weekends.
Tip: If you'd fill the cavities of the aluminium profiles of the base frame with fine sand (about 2/3), you would reduce vibrations quite a lot.
Awesome info good lookin woman good looking shop good lookin machine great video
I wish, I had more space to take over THIS type of toy :)
Interesting! Just stumbled on your site! How many years have you been in the industry?
You are the man
How are you securing the pieces that you are carving on?
I needed to assemble a cnc machine
If possible, what are the parts and motors required?
Can I use LIDAR on the new iPhone to convert them to CAD designed.
Quick questions what about the noise and your neighbors
Well that looks like one of those great Christmas gifts that 10 hrs later your like OHmy god how many pieces are in this box! I all so am confused you are in the UK I think or sound like it but you are using a standard imperial tape measure > brovo!
hi, is is good for just cutting. how long can cut a sheet 18mm mdf ?
Great video Darbin. I am looking to buy the same CNC as well. Would you mind sharing your order list with me? I started to configure the CNC on the avid cnc website but I want to be sure I am not forgetting any components in my order.
