This is the old Kaurimäki that I love back in shape! The eye he has for portraying people in the margins of society is pure and deep and his deadpan humor is a perfect match. Social and political critique without preaching or proselytizing.

I think Time magazine just selected this to be the best movie of the year. No wonder cause it really is a rare jewel in a dust like one critic says. Perfect Kaurismäki again.

For a Colombian who has a quite festive outlook on love/relationships, this film is weird as fudge. Still, it is masterfully filmed under an exquisite script and stellar acting. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
we were supposed to see it at the Antalya Film Festival, but it got canceled. Please bring it to Turkey early. I can't stand it.

我太喜欢这部电影了。只有八十分钟的短篇故事，在萧瑟的季节，城市的边缘发生的一场两个人的邂逅。战争当然是收音机里遥远的异国他乡的事，下班后ktv里的热闹好像也离他们很远。两个平凡人之间的故事。不擅长与这个世界相处的两个人在某刻相遇了，并且在克服了一些困难后走到了一起。一直到现在还在循环播放电影配乐。

Not for me at all, the cinematography was good though
I didn't know anything about this movie when I walked in, and for the most part I thought they were in Ukraine. I didn't know parts of Finland were this poor. Did they exaggerate it?
That's just the style of Kaurismäki. Even if set in modern day Helsinki, his movies are always stuck in the past, with a visual style that finds beauty from the exaggeratingly worn out and "ugly" sides of life.
this film was quite dry
I guess the trailer can be misleading... but this looks like such a stereotypical Euro 'romance' film...where the characters mostly stare, or turn their head with a whisper of an emotion. Dreary dark sets with poor lighting showing dreary dark lives.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you've never seen a Kaurismäki film before. This one has more funny lines than most comedies, albeit in a totally deadpan way
