Kamau Reunites With His Daughter | Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal | adult swim - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I like how a lot of the characters in Primal are revealed overtime to not be what they seem.
We see this giant, violent, incredibly strong guy and eventually learn that he is a loving father trying to save his daughter. Or in the Coven of the Damned episode, we saw a group of scary looking witches that were killing people only to learn that they were trying to create families for themselves. Even Fang was first introduced as a threat only for it to be revealed moments later that she was just a mother collecting food for her children. Really encourages you to pay attention to the small stuff which is great.
goes to show that whatever our faults and conflicts, in the end, we're all just people.
Now that you mention it i think the are only 2 villains that dont seem to have redeemin qualities: the b queen and the apes. The latter kidnapped strong creatures to fight in an arena and ALMOST killed fang. The queen is just evil.
@@rogercunillera7469 Also the group of reddish T-rexes in the beginning, who murdered the families of Fang and Spear and thus kick-started the whole series.
Because that's how nature and life work. Everyone is the hero of their own story. But, in the end, everyone is just living their lives as they choose to do. In the whole circle of life we are small insignificant pieces of something bigger, but these small pieces are what make our lives worthwhile in the first place.
That's because Gandhi Works in cliches and stereotypes. Every character he's ever made is a hyper distillation of an archetype including the "not what they seem"character
Take a good look at Spear, you can see that Kamau is a father also. Who is forced to be the Queen weapon since his little girl is being held hostage. Kamau isn't a bad person, but has no choice but to force to kill.
As a Father, Spear relates all too well
Still cant belive teeth as long as a bananna didnt tear his arm off
Thanks captain obvious, that was literally the whole point of this clip
Maybe he can be a friend to fang spear and mira
I’m still not sure fang will show mercy on him. He caused the death of one of her own kids after all.
Kamau is a common male name in my country Kenya, particularly among the Kikuyu tribe in central Kenya. I feel honored that Genndy decided to use that name😊😁
Cool
What does it mean? I mean what does the name mean exactly?
@@Dukesparrow1999 it was a name given to a group of young men who went through initiation together ...they were called rikas in Kikuyu or what you would call now a generation.. so anyone who belonged to that generation would receive the name Kamau
Ooooh I see
ه
That poor King too. His entire kingdom defeated and then had to give up his adorable pet
The kitty was all he had left
I think he would be more bothered by the spear that followed a few seconds after 😄
This scenes talks too much about how evil and cruel is this queen/empress, I mean, she saw the richness and looked bored and apathetic, then she saw the pet, the only thing the king had in the world, she took it and ordered to kill him when he had nothing. This shows that for her taking the riches is meaningless, she really wants to take everything of value and that makes her more dangerous and evil.
@@somakuruso It reminds me of how mythological (Western) dragons are depicted. They're usually described as having vast hoards of treasure, but too often they chalk it up to "dragons just like wealth and shinies". Apparently traditional dragons are motivated to collect treasure not because the treasure is beautiful or is a store of wealth, but because of the value it holds for others. A dragon is just as likely to kill a beggar for his last copper penny as it is to raid a king's treasure room; in fact, it's actually MORE likely to do the former because that penny is the only thing the beggar has to his name. Dragons are avarice personified. They want EVERYTHING you have, not just what's most valuable.
@@somakuruso I thought it was because Egyptians worshipped cats.
I hope Kamau and his daughter end up becoming part of Spear's group. After everything they've been through, they deserve to be part of a family.

Considering how ruthlessly she ordered the Mesopotamian King to be killed and holds Kamau's daughter captive, I doubt she will give Fang her eggs back.
She would most likely do what she did with the tiger, raise them to be her own and make them more weapons of conquest, in fact, it was seen that although she keeps them prisoners, she makes sure Fang and Spear are well cared for, even making sure to give Fang the necessary food and not just the minimum, which shows intelligence to understand they are important weapons and not just mistreat them to show her power

This queen is a really interesting character. In such a primal world, where the strongest are the most successful, she seems very small compared to just about every other figure. How can she control all these people through simple emotional manipulation.
There's definitely more to her character that's not being shown and I think it's been hinted at with her focus on pets and beasts. Specifically ones young enough that she can raise to only be hers. It would be really cool if her ability to instill fear and respect in her soldiers comes from a larger collection of primal animals that we haven't seen
Because that’s women nature. We aren’t strong like men. We are cunning and twist emotions.
@@zerotodona1495 that’s a stereotype. A very “women are the worst” stereotype at that

Is it just me or is the Queen's kingdom a mix of Egyptian and Japanese? Look at her soldier's masks, they have very Japanese looking face masks and the headpiece is Egyptian. Then the giant boat that Spear and Fang got captured on had part of the Japanese flag painted on the front and I'm one of those people that hates her even though her character design and role in the story are good, she just too evil and selfish, only caring about herself and using any means necessary to achieve her goal, no matter how cruel it is. I hope Spear, Fang and the Giant get they're revenge on her soon.

Same here…
His name has cropped up in the comments for a while now.
Never before has a character ensured they would be bitten in half by an angry dinosaur like this lady has.
I am glad the Egyptian Guard has the patience for Kamau's daughter to return back, otherwise there's going to be a problem.
Even the guard knows not to tear a child from their parents arms
I suspect the reason they wear those masks is to not show their emotions. I can only guess the guard must have a look of sympathy for the giant and his child, but... orders are orders.
@@MarkATorres1989 Idk...slavery was a HUGE part of ancient Egyptian culture so I think the guards probably normalized keeping people like Kamau and Spear as slave warriors, just like the viking villagers normalized keeping Mira and her people as slave laborers.
Well he seen firsthand what happens when you do something to the Empress’s secret weapons unexpectedly and they dislike it.
Like when they tried chaining up Fang but woke her up and she tore the first guard she’d seen, in half
I have a feeling Kamau would sacrifice himself to save his daughter, and Spear's friends, letting Spear and Mira to take care of his daughter after his death
Would be the plot of Love and Thunder, but better
I have a suspicion that's how things are going to play out too. Flame Viking is going to catch up with Spear and Fang, the pair seize the opportunity to try and make their escape while Viking attacks the Queen's soldiers. Kamau sacrifices himself vs Viking to buy time for Spear/Fang/Mira to rescue the children/get revenge on the Queen. Viking might wind up being the one to kill the Queen because he is the only one whom the Queen's M.O. of "threaten your loved ones" doesn't work as his entire family and people are all dead. He's literally only here for vengeance, and when the Queen tries to find some way to capture/twist him to her side, he just swats the Queen aside because she's standing in the way of his revenge. (I don't think she would hand Spear and Fang over; she strikes me as the type who NEVER gives up anything she has, no matter what.)
That would make sense since Spear lost his wife and kids and Mira and Kamau's daughter could replace them.

We now know he’s doing this for his daughter’s life. It breaks my heart to having that empress (just gonna go with that unless I’m wrong) hold his daughter by the hair as he massacres the village. He didn’t want to but he had no options 😔
I absolutely felt heart wrenched during that scene. He didn’t want to murder those peaceful villagers… but had no other choice 😭😢🥺
This show definitely knows how to tangle the hearts of viewers even if nobody talks that much
@@joelarrascue3179 Well, I don't think it's right to say he had "no choice". He 100% had a choice, he just chose his own daughter over everyone else. He could have saved the villagers but chose not to because he knew it would mean his daughter would be killed. Not saying I don't understand his decision, many people do put family first. But it just makes you wonder how many innocent people he is willing to kill before he finally says no, if ever.
I've never felt so horrified and heart broken at the same time 😓😢 poor guy. He really tried to persuade that....thing....to accept the offerings. The pure look of a torn heart and madness slowly getting to him. You can really tell which each slow movement going in for a kill was just agaonizing😞
It's an interesting bit of symbolism having Fang roar specifically as the empress goes off with her eggs AND his daughter. It felt like that roar was as much his inner roar that he is forced to hide as it was fang's that she let out.
@@tinyelephant1533 Thing is, the villagers probably would've been killed by someone else or her guards if Kamau didn't, and that would result in both his daughter AND the villagers getting killed.
You think the Empress is just gonna leave the villagers alive if Kamau refused? No, and Kamau knew this.
“We all do things that we don’t want in order to protect the ones we love the most.”
Insert cringe inspirational quote here.
I love how once you see them put the dots together, Spear and Fang are actually mad for Kamau. They may still hate him for getting one of Fang's eggs destroyed, but they also both realize that there's more to the giant than what they've seen prior.
I had more sympathy for the Viking Father (before the deal with the demon part) than this sicko. She's downright sadistic.
Considering the name of the episode where the Biking made a deal with what I can only assume is the devil. That deal was made purely for revenge. He lost everything and a man with nothing to lose has everything to gain. I look forward to whatever may happen on his path for vengeance because I’m sure that isn’t the end of his story. His revenge has not finished and it would be satisfying if this newly formed Avatar of Vengeance encounters the woman on his path to kill Spear, Fang and Mira.
Although Viking dad captured slaves himself, a detail I feel like the show didn’t focus too much on most likely to make him more sympathetic, he still feels human after we see him suffer loss, though he has now shed his human skin and become a monster. We have yet to see any humanity within the Queen, instead she is a monster walking around in human skin.
@@Minecraftian7448 controversial take but taking slaves doesn’t make you not human. Literally everyone had slavery at some point, even Africans enslaved their own. It’s kinda interesting yet not at all surprising for this show that despite being a slaver that was never the entirety of who he was, in a lesser show someone who takes slaves would purely be a monster with no humanity within them. The fact they could show and make us understand him beyond what he’s done and even feel sorry for him on a certain level makes it clear how good the writing is.
@@Broomer52 not the devil it's Sutyr the Fire Jotun
@@Broomer52 Of course I don’t deny that there are historical nuances to the practice of slavery, though the fact that many participated in it doesn’t make it any less barbaric. Obviously the Queen’s evilness is based on her use of slaves to satisfy her egotistical desires on top of her bloodlust in wiping out whole nations, even peaceful ones, but while her use of slaves is a key factor in what makes the audience dislike her, the Viking’s participation in the practice is comparatively ignored to the point I believe they intentionally stopped bringing it up in order for the audience to sympathize, without a resolution or acknowledgment about his past sins.

This scene is a great example why i love this show and spear as a character. Theres no dialog needed. He sees and he understands Exactly whats happening. The story doesnt need to be explained to him or the viewer by proxy of him being spoken to. This show really excels in visual story telling and i love it. You dont need narration to have a narrative.
Even though Spear, Fang, and Kamau are all fighting for the survival of their own families, it makes you wonder something. How many innocent people are they willing to kill to keep them safe? An entire city's worth of people, probably tens of thousands, were just massacred so the Egyptian queen wouldn't kill their own families. It presents a big moral dilemma, and I hope that they highlight it in the next episode.
As many as you would to keep yours safe.
Perplexing isn't it?
@@archwankanobi5627 The whole point is, that it's a really complex, moral issue. Would you kill 1,000 people, many of them children with their own families themselves, just to save one? For some, it is yes. For others, it is no. Others, it depends, or there could be a breaking point. And I don't think there is really a right answer, as everyone perceives it differently, and I don't hate people for valuing their own over others (until a certain point). That's what makes it so interesting as a moral debate. It's kind of like the trolley problem, actually.
It's interesting because I think Kamau knows that, if he didn't kill the villagers, the Empress would've probably gotten somebody else to do it for him. She would've also rubbed it in by killing his daughter in front of him, and then killing him.
Even of they weren’t just fighting for family they’re literally enslaved and can be killed at any moment lol
Yes, in a simple and familiar storyline this moral dilemma can be handled so easily, where the heroes can save everyone, both their families and innocent people, even themselves, thanks to their luck, and that the story can give them all the power and intelligence to solve it.
Unfortunately, both in real life and stories like in Primal and Vinland Saga, these moral dilemmas cannot be solved so easily, because no one is incredibly invincible nor can do everything, a price has to be paid no matter which decision one takes, but one can't have everything.
Another example is in Gladiator, there we can see two parent perspectives: Maximus didn't give his loyalty to Commodus, so his family paid the price, however, that made him free to fight him and get his revenge (similar to Chieftain). On the other hand, there was Lucilla, who had to keep appearances and submit to her brother because his son was threatened despite still being alive.
This series shows just how far a parent is willing to go for their child, especially fathers.
This is one of the best shows that you guys have released in a long time for me

the way he swipes off those blades is just so badass
Incredible series, where no words are spoken, yet through their expressions and actions, we understand the story. Their extreme violence is tamed with gestures of kindness. The plots at times are gut wrenching, they tend to end with a little hope. Or life being what it is, requires the will to live, the will to survive, so in the end. That tid bit of happiness, makes life worthwhile and meaningful.
