- In late 2007, John Cena was injured during a match on RAW. He then would later return at the 2008 Royal Rumble. Seems normal right? A lot of wrestlers return at the Royal Rumble, if anything it is a tradition. However this was different. This was something special. A moment I will never forget. I was still really happy to see him return cancer free. Just because I dislike his wrestling doesn't mean I want him to have cancer. I have never enjoyed Cena. I always preferred Michaels, Edge, Triple H, Taker. That doesn't mean I want Cena to be injured for a year. Just because I don't like his character doesn't mean I want to see him cripple.

Funny story...
I was 7 years old at the time. My uncle took me and my cousins to msg to watch it. My uncle said “where’s John cena” and we said he’s injured he’s not in it. And then he said we’re leaving because there’s no cena then all of sudden #30 is counting down and we got up from our seats and then boom the rest of history.

What made Cena's return so special was that it was unexpected we all thought that Cena was going to be out for a long time, but for him to return and win the Rumble that way is truly legendary.

I've never hated John Cena. But I did get bored of him and wanted him to at least go down the card a little bit. But I never understood the hate he got. His work ethic was fantastic, and regardless of the people who say he can't wrestle, the guy always delivered in big matches regardless of who he was in the ring with.
That day is the literal birth of Super Cena. Dude recovered from an injury that should’ve tooken him out of action for at least 9 months, but came back in 3. Dude is literally superhuman

I never understood why people started going against Cena. He was the man.
I was at this rumble live. It was the first time I attended a live PPV. I had been to multiple house shows & Raw at that point, but that was my first PPV. I was with 2 friends & we all lost our minds when Cena appeared. I lost my voice from all that screaming "OH MY GOD" & couldn't wait to tell people at my school about it the next day. It was a nice surprise & I always wished that stuff like that would never get leaked nowadays.
If you look up Bryan Alvarez and Vinny's original review of the 08 Rumble on CZcams. You will hear one of the most hilarious Triple H rants ever from a buddy of theirs that they had on the show. The sad part is that 08 Triple H match was just as tired, needless and overexposed as he would be EIGHT WHOLE YEARS LATER when he actually won another Rumble and the WWE title. To cap it off, they all predicted Triple H would somehow be inserted into the title match and guess what? Triple Threat at Mania 24😁
