  • This is a follow up video I did to how to connect your camera to your smartphone.
    This time learn how to connect your Sony camera to your computer using the Sony Imaging Edge app.
    This is really great to able to monitor your camera when you don’t have a flip screen. And unlike the phone app, you get way more settings and controls

    • @CreativeTechLab

      It would depend on your shot. Autofocus will still work. But if there's something else in the frame like my mic, it may miss focus on your face. If you're not moving around a lot, then manual focus would be your best bet.

    What's the USB cable that you're using? Could you provide an Amazon link for it too?

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  Před 3 lety

      A basic micro USB cable. In the video I used one that came with a mobile speaker I have. But the cable that came with the camera, or any generic micro USB will work.

    Hello nice video ! It's clear. But which cable did you use to link your camera and your computer ? (The yellow one)

      Thanks for watching. I used a micro USB to USB A cable. Just like the one that comes with camera. I just happened to have another one close by from another device when shooting this video.

    hey thanks for the video- for some reason when i plug in my Sony A6000 and select the camera on remote I don't see the remote screen, all i see is viewer, doesn't seem to let me get to Remote screen. I saw that Sony was having some issues with Mac OS 10.15- i upgraded software to 10.15.5....is that what you're using? I see it's working for you on Catalina. Thanks for any guidance you can give!

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey thanks for watching. I'm using Catalina 10.15.4. I'm not sure that make a big difference. But I also know that the older cameras have slightly different menus.
      There's not as much info for the desktop app as there is for mobile. But this is what I was able to find on the Sony site: support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/app/imagingedge/en/instruction/4_1_connection.php#cnt2

    Great vid. I'm showing my a6000 is connected but no video signal. But I can control settings like aperture and shutter speed. The wheel is spinning but no video. Any suggestions?

      @CreativeTechLab  Před 4 lety

      Not exactly sure what's going on there. I know the setuo on the a6000 is a little differeent with the older menus. Check out the following link to troubleshoot support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/app/imagingedge/en/instruction/4_1_connection.php

    Hello, Thanks for the great video. Do you know where I can find a longer than 3-4 foot data transfer USB cable? If I want to use my camera and look at images, a 3-4 foot cable is not going to work too well :) I have been looking all morning. I have the Sony a9.

      Hi thanks for watching. Amazon has cables like this: amzn.to/32EMEji that are 10 feet long.

    All I want to do is connect my Sony ZV1 to my iMac so I can use it as a monitor (like you). I've downloaded & installed the new Imaging Edge Desktop with Remote Shooting, but when I click it, it tries to open, then closes! Also, on my ZV1, when I go to USB connection.... my only options are AUTO, MASS STORAGE, and MTP. I have to turn on the PC Remote under Network1, separately. This is a new camera. I am running on High Sierra (kept it that way on purpose) but it should be supported. Am I using the wrong cord? What could possibly be wrong? This should be easy! Helllllllllllllpppp!

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  Před 2 lety

      Hey thanks for watching. I'm not exactly sure what the issue is. It's hard to tell without having the camera in front of you.
      However I know sometimes having "Ctrl w/ Smartphone" On can interfere with the PC remote setting. I also haven't used the ZV1 so I'm not sure if the menus are slightly different like you mention.
      But if all this still fails check out this video from fellow creator Chris Brockhurst: czcams.com/video/b14oJ5PR65Y/video.html It's probably a better solution for what you're trying to do. I'll be testing out soon and making a video about it.
      Hope that helps.

    Did you use a USB cable or micro HDMI cable to connect your camera to your MacBook Pro as my MacBook Pro isn’t recognizing the USB connection(the cable that came with my Sony A6400 camera) Please help a sister out. Thank you.

    would you Recomended a field monitor?… thanks for the info.

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  Před 3 lety

      I would only use this solution as a field monitor in a crunch. A dedicated monitor would probably be better when you're out. But if you have no other option, or need a extra monitor it can definitely work.

    Many thanks for this great video, I'm using the app already but I still couldn't figure out if there is a way to use the PC storage rather than the SD card while recording,, is this even possible 🤔

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey thanks for watching. No I don't think you can record to the PC using this method. I think you would need a capture card of some sort to do that.

    Hi there. i have a Sony ZV - 1 and I am trying to get some interval shots that I've taken. i have downloaded the Sony Imaging app. i have set my camera to USB but i cannot download to Laptop. what am I doing wrong please...???

    • @CreativeTechLab
      @CreativeTechLab  Před 4 lety

      Hey sorry to hear that. I'm exactly sure why that would be. Does the camera not show up at all in the computer? Like it would show up in 'Finder' on a Mac. Worse case though you should still be able to take the files directly off the memory card.

    • @metal_sandwich
      @metal_sandwich Před 4 lety

      @@spiritualmeli5014 No. I've given up doing time lapses on the Sony ;for such a sophisticated camera, it seems such a basic function that it can't seem to handle without downloading extra software. I use my Samsung Note 10 Plus - it does brilliant time lapses...
