No. Once you're ready to export Final Cut will use the original files to give the highest quality. Optimized and proxy files are only for editing.

Hi there! Why do we need not transcode to optimized/proxy media with newer Macs? I've asked because I get the "storage full" message all the time while editing my travel vlogs, and I have an M2 chip Macbook Air. Am I filming using wrong settings from my iPhone? I don't film in ProRes, usually just 4K 24fps.
The reason I said that is the newer Macs handle compressed video formats really well. So you don't need to create additional files and take up extra space if your machine can handle the native files as they are. Hope that helps. My camera overheats in 4k so I shoot in HD, what’s the ideal record setting to use?
Did you set the Temp to high?
@@CreativeTechLab No I didn’t but I’ll check to make sure. Do you think it’s probably the reason it overheats?
It can help. The camera will run for a lot longer at higher temperature before it needs to shut off. Shooting with the LCD screen away from camera can also help

Your final video export quality will always be from the original files. Proxy or optimized files are only used for editing.
