  • I think it’s crazy to never replace your fuel filter so hopefully this diy how to replace the Cooper S fuel filter will be helpful to someone. Good thing I had ‪@RoyalPurpleLLC‬ sitting around to lubricate the o rings and my ‪@harborfreight‬ tools came in handy to get the job done.

    Thank you sir. Had a hard time with reinstalling it but figured it out. You didn't show the crucial part of the new gasket being installed before locking in the top.

      I apologize. I’m glad you got it figured out. It’s crazy that they’re “not serviceable”. They get really dirty.

      @@recklesslyfestyle no worries. I had slipped the gasket on the top first then tried to install it. Saw it wasn't going in and started panicking lol. My Bentleys Service manual shows it's removable in section 160-16

    After replacing my fuel filter the check engine light came on this morning (it was colder than usual I think)
    The code said something like there was low pressure or a pressure leak in the fuel line or something. I realized I think the metal ring that fastens the housing down was not on all the way so I really hammered the bushing down tight.
    My question is: do you think you can over tighten that metal bushing and strip the threads that it screws onto? Are those threads plastic?
    I wonder if what seems like over tightening is just actually barely tightening it at all in reality since in using a screw driver and hammer instead of the proper tool. This is frustrating because I dont want to damage my car.
    Did you have the check engine light come up? Thank you for your help!

      I would make sure the seal didn’t get pinched or tear etc. I would also check that the fuel line snapped back down securely. It’s fairly tight, I marked where it was before I removed it (which doesn’t help you now). I don’t remember if the threads were plastic but you’d have to overnight it severely to damage it. My check engine light didn’t come on.

    did you notice any improvements to performance and fuel economy after replacing fuel filter?

    • @recklesslyfestyle

      I didn’t measure before and after. Probably didn’t change performance but may have slightly increased fuel mileage. It was really dirty.

    Did you release the pressure first from the fuel rails?

      No

      @Infanateknowledge Před rokem +1

      @Reckless Lyfestyle neither did i. I did it yestersay, but my car had not run for 2 months, so I wasn't any pressure anyway.
      Couldn't Get it started tho, fuel light is on so going to get some fuel in it and try again

      @recklesslyfestyle  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, could just be that it’s too low on fuel to re-prime the system.

    It may be non serviceable so people will go to the dealer and not do it themselves, It's not that hard to do just smelly
