    That is actually a terrific idea to offer to run audio for rehearsal dinners as an upcharge . Thanks for the tip!

  • @AndrewBentonElevationFilms

    5:41 - YES!!! I KNOW RIGHT!?? Really appreciate the tip on the affordable sound system, I have been needing this for ages because literally no one listens when you tell them that it doesn't amplify! 🤦🤦

    This is probably the last time you'll be seeing the whiteboard video background! I recorded this before I moved to a new place!

    In the UK we rarely if ever have bands or DJs set up during the meal. they usually don't even drive until after the meal. Most venues also have horrendous PA systems, so we have to resort to lapel micing every speaker and we also stick on the Sony TX650s. They're handy to have if you get a surprise speaker you can quickly attach it to that speaker. you can also attache the T650 to a mic similar to how Matt does with his Sony recorder in this vid

    Lol..... I love the fact that the mic has to be taped to the mic stand, i never thought of that, good one, lol, second thought what if they carry the stand and mic and move to another direction while talking.... Lol

    The Electro Voice mic is omnidirectional. For use with a speaker system maybe a different mic with directional pickup pattern is better? Have you ever had feedback problems?

  • @DzintarsRudzitis
    @DzintarsRudzitis Před 5 lety

    Yeah, dr10l is the best recorder i used, works so good, it is small and compact. Maybe sometimes i buy another one :)

  • @wunzagain
    @wunzagain Před 5 lety

    Some great tips! I love the DR-10Ls, really smart of Tascam to make several models of the same basic recorder!

  • @SeanMarsalis
    @SeanMarsalis Před 5 lety

    I don't think the Shure SM58 is omnidirectional, but it should also be a good budget option for some people. Comes in at 99 dollars most places. Even cheaper used.

    Ha.. I also bring my own PA system. It’s very like the Bose one but mine has phantom power and a built in mixer as well as a 6 hour battery. So no need even for power. Look up the JBL eon pro

    Mic sleeve covers the mic on/off button. Doesn't work well when they need to turn the mic on and off between speakers.

    I am really confused at the moment, I am trying to get an affordable mic that are are used for filming and recording device instead of using audio interface (sound cards) that will require you using a laptop with you on the street if you need to shoot a scene on a street rather than carrying laptops around, because I see some youtube videos with someone holding a pole during filming (a boom mic i guess), I need advice please (I am able to edit videos and audio after shooting)

    Hi Matt, I am have purchased zoom h1n to record the ceremony & speeches and simply attach it to the mic in the sleeve but the audio isnt great without deadcat(breeze etc) Would you recommend sony or olympus instead, would they provide better uality audio or still same? I would very much appreciate an advise on that. Thank you

    Thank your very much, Matt, i am learning a lot with you. I have a question: can you attach the Tascam DR-10X to the xlr output some loudspeakers have? I know it has not a line entry, but maybe with the "ext" setting... Thank you!

  • @Soul_Visuals_Photography

    Hey Matt. The mic sleeve link no workey. Any more info on it?

    Great tips. It just seems that their wedding is on rails according to your rules. I like the gear and some of your ideas. I would hate to have you controlling where I need to stand. Why don't you just use the camera to record? that works fine, and you don't have to worry and be controlling. less stress on you and the client. thanks for sharing

    • @MitchellBarkman
      @MitchellBarkman Před 5 lety

      I'm sure any wedding client would thank them. The audio provided and the way it looks makes the speakers look and sound so much better. Plus for most people, it's not a big deal to stand in the one spot. :)
      Wedding videographers don't have a lot of say on the day. But this is definitely one of the most important parts we need to be firm on. :)

    • @franktorres7963
      @franktorres7963 Před 5 lety

      @@MitchellBarkman I understand what you mean. but it takes away from the guests wanting to act out their feelings. He has good ideas obviously. But placing lights? are you serious? thats stressful and he knows it. He has a lot of great gear, but he's a controlling dude. Its a wedding day, not movie day. not trying to take away from the rest of his work, he's good. He just needs to step back a little.

    Thank you Matt, lots of great tips. Have you ever lost video files while recording video? Do you record two cards at the same time or just one and have a second camera as back up? Thanks, Alex.

  • @revelationvideoproductions1168

    Matt some advice so far this year I've had issues with audio twice. I've tapped into the dj with tascam and nothing or I've tapped into music only and no mic that was the case in my recent. Now is there away for me to be able to conceal a separate audio recorder on a handheld mic?

    If you were going to offer this mic/speaker setup (which I love, BTW) at a rehearsal dinner, what would you consider a fair price? $200?
