I kinda like these cold months as not much is required of me outside. I love to be inside stitching, reading, cooking, etc. Also, since all the busy of the holidays is over, we have coming up next Sunday s "ladies fellowship" which will mean crafting together, eating, visiting and laughing. This is what's fun for me about the winter ❄️🥶 months!
I love the month of January! It's my birthday month so I indulge in my favorite foods, enjoy a specialty coffee and add to my stash even though I have more than a lifetime will allow.
Now you have me thinking about 2023! 😂 I don't really mind January. It's a time to rest & plan, Ohio it's cold, but fun to have a fireplace, wear a sweater, drink hot mocha. Plenty of time to cross stitch. For Fun in January we like to go to the movie, the live theater, Bowling, ice skating ❤ 23 for 23!

Penelope!! If you were able to keep opossums as outdoor pets we would totally have a whole family outside. They eat all kinds of bugs and are just adorable.

But this darn rain and wind in California is keeping me from working in the garage! Love the rain, but not all at once. I get so excited when you have a new video, I don’t care how long it takes!❤
What do I look forward to in January? This woman I know holds a scrapbooking retreat in January every year. I attend and work on cross-stitch. There are others that work on different crafts as well. I would be up for more videos from you as I always enjoy them but only if it doesn't stress you out as your busy lady. Always enjoy seeing your cats!

January is such a blah month!! On warm days (days 50° and above I like to walk my Dachshund and also let my Runner Ducks out of their run into the yard. I have a swing where I sit and watch them- that’s the country life- watching your birds 😂 we recently sold our chickens but are getting chicks this spring so I’ll have them too. It will definitely get exciting then!!
I just love your Random Rambles...its always a.joy to see what kind of things you think about. January is a dreadful month. I start cleaning and tossing and donating which makes me feel better. We so try to cp somewhere south of us as well. I love that luggage tag and the pink passport cover!! Maybe I will travel again. Love winter so January I make a point of watching the sunset. The colder the more dramatic the light and amazing silence. I really enjoy a winter walk. In Minnesota.

I have to admit that I don't find possums cute, but I did love your video of them. I have started feeding the birds and love watching them at the feeders. I have now started feeding the squirrels because they were emptying the bird feeder. Stitching and flosstube are what bring me joy in January. Also an enjoyable afternoon and dinner with friends today. We went to Color Me Mine and painted a ceramic piece. We pick it up in a week. Hang in there with the life changes and January. The sun was out for a bit today and soaking that up through the window also brought me joy. I could feel my mood improve. The first two weeks of the year haven't been great. I love to watch your videos whenever you want to do them. Take care!

I do quilting in January, in my fuzzy slippers and jammies. LOVE your floss tube! We need a Penelope cross stitch with her eating her four layer casserole with a candle and the stars shining! We like possums. We live in Connecticut and they eat LOTS of ticks ( keep down that Lyme disease!) I don’t even have a passport, so mine would be really boring! 🤣🤣

I loved this format of video! This was so fun to watch. I travel a TON for work, and January is my slow season so I actually enjoy the time off and not living out of a suitcase. For fun in January I generally snowshoe as much as possible. There are some great forest preserves in Chicago where you can rent snowshoes! However, since we've only had rain I've been going on the country forest preserves websites and seeing when they do birding hikes, or river walks, or hot cocoa around a campfire...I encourage everyone to check out events at their local country forest preserve. They always have fun things going on! I just did a bird hike that you would have been all about, Stephanie...and you meet so many cool people.

I like hearing about new books and authors that you enjoy. Indeed, I have bought a few of them. :) I enjoy January. Life slows down. January has always been a difficult month since we have been go go going since mid November with holidays. You of course took on a huge project the jingle ball which you are still dealing with all the changes you are hoping to make for 2023. Take a moment to relax and continue to enjoy the night visitors to your porch. Loved seeing your bird drawings.
I find you hilarious and ridiculously charming so I appreciate all the videos! I grew up in PA so opossums were pretty normal. Now I live in a very urban area in TX so I miss seeing wildlife. January is a wonderful month here. The weather is usually mild and it's a great relief from the hot weather.

Love visits with you whenever you manage to be here. Random is great, or more formal, however you feel at the time. January can be dreary, as I don't enjoy putting away all the fun Christmas decor. This year the Lunar New Year comes early, so I am focusing on tasks for that (basically the cleaning up and clearing out I didn't manage for conventional New Year), also cooking some of the fun things I didn't have time for in December - gingerbread (cake style), some cookies, etc. I want to mail some home baked goods to my brother, finish some stitching from 2022, start a few new projects, and finalize some travel plans.

The opossum video and commentary was hilarious! I went to a two day 'cabin fever' stitching retreat last weekend and had a delightful time. I am going to make that my January 'thing' going forward. As for my flosstube preferences - casual, shorter videos. Just as you said you don't like to create under pressure, I think it shows when flosstubers force themselves to make videos. Have fun and be yourself. Blessings to all!

I want more Lindy Stitches! I am not into birds, or do our tastes in stitching run along the same line, but listening to you always makes me happier than I was at the beginning! I live not far from you … about an hour north east … so I understand dark and dreary days. But I am one of maybe 3 Hoosiers who love these days! I am not an outdoor person, so maybe that explains it. I hate sunny days in January and February… they seem so much brighter than sun any other time, could be reflecting off the snow, which we also don’t have!!! I think the best way to make them pass quicker is to let yourself do fun things! Twenty three fun things a day, a week, a month, or all year! My guess is the opossums are blabber mouths! Soon you may be having a lot … and maybe even nests and babies, etc. I don’t hate them, I just really am not a big fan of wild animals in general! You heard it here first! Looking forward to Jingle Ball 23!!!
In January I find it fun to build a fire in the fireplace insert first thing in the morning and spending the rest of the day alternating between stitching and reading on the couch in front of the fire. You need to jump into new recipes. I do it so often my husband always asks if I have made that evenings dinner dish before. Not every recipe will be a keeper, but I am successful at least 90% of the time. The ingredients list alone is a good indication of your likelihood of enjoying the recipe. Happy 2023!

Loved this random assortment 😂 I moved to the mountains during covid and made some of the most wonderful friends (as an adult?! Miracle!) they somehow have convinced me that skiing is fun, so that’s our January activity! Not so much shoveling all the snow though 😣 one of those wonderful friends is getting married abroad this summer, so that pink cutie would be perfect 😍

opossum was fun to see. I cross stitch, visit with my granddaughter and help others with any thing needed. My parents always need help, my friend whom had a house fire needs help and of course our adult children too need attention. Any organization that is in need my doll club tries to help with us members joining together. Happy New Year. I enjoy reading and deep house cleaning too.

Random thoughts: Love your CZcams videos, even if they are short they make me laugh and bring me joy. January is my holiday hangover month; just sleep through it as much as possible. 23 is okay but 22 is my favorite number…sorry to see it go. I had a love/hate relationship with our porch possum since he would eat all the foods I left for our porch kitties. Same with the raccoon we named Roscoe the Trash Panda. I’m a true believer in procrastination. Some of my best work is done under the pressure of time. 🐈⬛♥️🐈⬛

Love seeing you in January 23. There is that number. When I look at 23 I have hope for a better year than 20 - 22. We are getting more vaccines and people are beginning to get out of their homes.
I always find the winter months to be challenging. Those of us in the northern states do not get out in the cold, ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ decreasing our vitamin D intake. One of the things I do is take vit D. The second item is I follow Trent Shelton. All his positive motivation, Facebook, Instagram and text messages really help. Including his advice on removing toxic individuals from our lives. Toss in the recorded messages and you have a recipe for enjoyment. Plus, he is easy on the eyes.

I first discovered you on Christmas day on the way home from my kids house looking for what the famous Jingle Ball was. You are a crack up, and I am not a fan of opossums, but your story and restaurant for them is funny and cute at the same time. Either sharing or content is totally up to you.
Thanks for sending some cat love. We miss having a family feline around, so anyone’s cute cat makes me happy. I live in Arizona where Januarys aren’t always miserably cold. This January we did something fun - we went to a local Lunar New Year Festival at an outdoor park. Never been, totally last minute, saw it on the news, rallied my fam. We ate yummy food, saw some traditional dancing and sword demos, and awed at the varied Koi fish species. For your 23 in ‘23 challenge maybe you can do “visit 23 places in my own community that I’ve never been to before”. Whether it’s the Chinese Cultural Fair or a local farmer’s market you keep meaning to check out. I love your 23 challenge - it’s an accessible way to set some fun goals for yourself. Gotta do it for myself.

I love possums! For January something that I do for fun is organize my different products for example my makeup and throw away stuff that may have gone bad or I do not use anymore, that way I can finish the year fresh and less cluttered. I enjoy the more regular shorter videos than ever so often longer videos. Hopefully i'll be able to read more this year I am hoping to read a lot of books that I have purchased for like 50 cents at yard sales! I hope you have a wonderful week!

Normally I'm not a fan of possums, but I have to admit that Penelope's pretty cute! I like to lean into the seasons, so January for me is usually filled with cuddling under blankets and reading, drinking ridiculously large cups of tea, stitching, and playing video and board games. It's often the month where I'll take on that particularly chonky book or lengthy game since I know I'll be spending a lot of time indoors. This year, however, January was the month my little family moved cross country, and so it's been anything but cozy and relaxing! And I expect February will be the month of painting and furniture shopping as we attempt to make our new house a home.
Good to reset ourselves for the next upcoming whatever time :) So for fun: I am creating 101 item list that I would like, want to, dreaming of doing in the year of 2023:) So: setting up my journal/planner/tracker, and adding this list sounds like super fun! Looking forward to get some fun stuff done :D :D

January's a good month for snuggling in, drinking hot chocy, and going through stash deciding what will be my new starts this year. In winter, I generally stitch upbeat patterns, or those with brighter colours.
You won't be able to please everyone, so do videos when you have something to share, or when it suits you. Don't let less than positive feedback affect you (probably easier said than done). Your videos should be enjoyable for both you, and us, not a chore, so post when the mood and/or inspiration strikes.. Take care, and happy stitching.

Stephanie, in January I leave Canada and go to winter as a 'snowbird' in Florida. We have a whole, large community of retired Canadians here. We play golf, pickleball, read, stitch and go out to eat and celebrate happy hour. Of course, we are all home by 8:30... lol
Opossums are awesome! They are adorable and eat ticks. Win/Win! I broke down and purchased the luggage tag. Tag will be making plenty of trips this year!! For fun this January, I'm heading to Vegas and will do the Sky Jump from The Stratosphere! However, I will only do this once and not 23 times!!
