  • What is Hard Flaccid syndrome? What are the causes? How is it treated? Dr. med. Dr. phil. Stefan Buntrock, a board-certified urologist and sexologist from Göttingen discusses these questions with professor Irwin Goldstein from San Diego. Hard Flaccid syndrome is a debilitating condition often misunderstood and overlooked in men's sexual health. Unlike common sexual problems that manifest during arousal, hard flaccid syndrome occurs in the flaccid state, leading to constant contraction of the penis, difficulty urinating, and other severe symptoms.
Dr. Goldstein explains that this condition is linked to a pathological reflex in the spinal cord, specifically within the lumbar spine. This reflex triggers the sympathetic nerves to remain active, causing continuous contraction and leading to the shriveled, cold state of the penis. This imbalance disrupts the normal functioning of the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, which typically regulate erection and relaxation cycles. Patients suffer from additional issues like high-riding testicles, painful erections, and difficulty with urination and defecation, significantly impacting their quality of life.
Hard flaccid syndrome's causes can often be traced back to specific triggers in the genital and pelvic regions, sometimes exacerbated by self-inflicted actions. Dr. Goldstein and his team are researching these triggers and potential spinal lesions that contribute to this syndrome. Although the exact mechanisms are not fully understood, their work aims to develop better diagnostic and treatment methods to help those affected by this distressing condition.

Thank you for raising awareness for this condition. With your reach and influence I am sure this condition may be more researched and not underestimated by other urologists.

WTF! The last 2 sentences: "Do you think this can be self inflicted?" and "I think that's the vast majority of cases." Then the video just stops. WHAT!!!! That's irresponsible. Explain what you mean by self inflicted. Also what do you mean by "vast majority of cases?" It sounds like you're suggesting this is a self-imposed condition. You need to do a follow up video explaining these.
Also, do you think there is a connection with those with spinal disc injuries (ruptured/herniated)? They are most common in that area of the spine.

If you ever peruse Reddit you'll find there is a lot of misinformation and misconception about Hard Flaccid being circulated. So many young guys mildly injuring themselves with porn addiction behaviors and imagining their pain is caused by either Peyronie's or Hard Flaccid.

Very sadly, nowadays attention span is short. Only 33% watch the full video. What a waste of time and expertise to upload the whole interview in one piece! Saturday, the interview will continue.
