  • The venous leak as a cause for erectile dysfunction is very hard to diagnose and very hard to treat. In this insightful video, Dr. med. Dr. phil. Stefan Buntrock, a urologist and sexologist from Göttingen, delves into the complex world of venous leak, a challenging condition causing erectile dysfunction. Venous leak, or veno-occlusive dysfunction, is a condition where the penis fails to maintain an erection due to the inability to trap blood within. This issue arises despite a good blood supply, as the penile veins prematurely drain the blood from the organ. Dr. Buntrock takes us through the intricacies of this condition, highlighting that it can affect anyone with damage to the smooth muscle in the penis's cavernous bodies. The video explores the causes of venous leak, including aging, penile fibrosis, and post-prostate surgery conditions, and raises questions about its prevalence among young men.
Dr. Buntrock addresses the challenges in diagnosing venous leak, pointing out the limitations and inaccuracies of duplex ultrasound and injection tests. He emphasizes the role of psychological factors and the autonomic nervous system in affecting the diagnosis, where anxiety and stress can lead to sympathetic nervous system activation, suppressing erections. The video also touches on the fundamental mechanism of the cavernous bodies and the importance of nitric oxide and the Rho-associated kinase (Rock) system in muscle relaxation and contraction, respectively.
Highlighting the need for renewed research and the potential role of artificial intelligence, Dr. Buntrock calls for a deeper investigation into the underlying causes of venous leakage. He critiques the effectiveness of venous surgery and introduces innovative treatments like radiofrequency therapy and the exploration of Botox, alongside acknowledging the challenges of arterial insufficiency and medication non-responders.
This video is a must-watch for anyone interested in understanding erectile dysfunction beyond the surface-level solutions, offering a blend of medical insight, research challenges, and future directions in treating veno-occlusive dysfunction. With keywords like "erectile dysfunction," "venous leak," "veno-occlusive dysfunction," "diagnosis challenges," "psychological factors," "nitric oxide," and "future research," this video is positioned to engage viewers seeking comprehensive information on this complex condition and the evolving landscape of its treatment.

Hi sir, I performed a doppler on my penis yesterday. Doctor used a niddle to put some drug on my penis, then waited for 5 minutes to begin the diagnostic. PSV 5 min and PSV 20 min were too low (around 20cm/s) however I couldnt have an erection during the test. this because of what you mention to your rest. I didn't relax in front of my doctor. When I got back home I was like a 18 years old, hard erection. Are the PSV results maybe mistaken?

If you are very nervous, it will most likely have an effect on the test result.
