MK5 Golf R32 Oil Change * DRIVEWAY * *DIY*

I'm changing my oil as i have treated it with Seafoam to remove carbon build-up and contamination. Seafoam has worked really well and now it's time for fresh oil. This is something most people can do at home and should take more than 30-40mins.

3/8" Ratchet
19mm socket
36mm socket
1/2 ratchet
flat blade screwdriver or pick
funnel
towels
something to catch the oil in.

What are the relays you need to take out to prime the oil around the engine before starting?

I think its the 458 relay in the engine bay compartment. But you do need vcds to reset the engine light afterwards. Betterway would be to pull the igniton coilpacks out and do it that way.

Where are the fues you ha have to pull to prime the engine

I can’t remember the specific one for the ignition but it through fault codes and unless you have a way of clearing them then I wouldn’t worry. As long as the engine hasn’t been sat for months with no oil there should be plenty in the head and crank

Hi, how many liters of oil do you need for the service?

You normally get 6 litres in the kit. The gearbox oil amount used is usually 5ish litres unless you are completely draining the gearbox but taking it apart then you will get closer to 6 litres as not everything drains during a normal service.
