  • These basic principals are what we as former Navy SEALs used to help make us top notch. With a little practice you can increase your abilities.

    This is one of the most simple yet informative videos on shooting a pistol. All you need to know, nothing you don't!
    Thanks, and thank you for your service!

    Thank you so much for making this video. I've watched a lot of videos, but no one quite explained the basics the way you do, namely a way that clicked for me. I was consistently shooting left/lower left, until I watched this and your home drills video. I watched them, went to the range the next day, and it was night and day. I'm now excited to see how much I'm going to improve by following the basics you teach in the videos. Thanks again.

    I particularly liked the psychology behind using the word "squeeze".

      I use a lot of psychology in my classes. It carries over in everything we do in life.

    I love that you're left handed like myself. it makes watching your instruction that much more natural to me and easier to follow. Great video. Subscribed.

    I enjoy your video series. Very informative and simple. As a side note I I like it when I see people like yourself using hammer fired guns. It seems like the only gun that it expectable in other videos is a Glock. I carry an fnx9.

      I'm really fond of hammer fired guns. I have started working with a well
      modified Glock 19 which is turning out to be amazing but you can't beat
      a single/double.

    I love your instruction you and Chris Sajnog have helped a lot its great to learn from America's best warriors (U.S Navy Seals) I feel more confident about my improvements love the squeeze, squeeze, squeeze method on making sure you squeeze the trigger without over anticipating the shot and I love his method bang, bang, bang when it comes to speeding up your shooting by saying it out loud it's what we would call keep it simple stupid. That method of holding your breath is B.S unless you're behind a hunting rifle or sniper rifle because with a pistol or carbine your shooting on the move depending on the situation. I also would love to say thank you! for your help, I look forward to coming out your way to having a class with you that would be awesome. Happy Armed forces day! to your brother "SEALs" and the rest of the "Troops" thanks again brother!.

    I have to admit that i thought the idea of saying "squeeze, squeeze, squeeze" while pulling the trigger was nuts. I was having difficulty at the range recently and was sure I had all the fundamentals in place, but I was still not hitting my desired point of aim. So I said "well, let's try repeating squeeze" and to my shock, it actually helps! I couldn't believe it. I'm a believer now.

    • @UnitedDefenseTactical
      @UnitedDefenseTactical  Před 7 lety +9

      Simplicity is key brother. Eventually you will be tearing it up. We all get carried away and when you notice yourself throwing rounds its time to go back to the basics for a few minutes. Every time before I hit the range hard I shoot on paper to get the muscle memory in order. Being a good shooter is merely the basics over and over. The speed follows accuracy. Accuracy doesn't follow speed.
      You can either take the time and be disciplined to work the basics which no one does and become a great shooter or you can try and run and gun from the beginning and throw 50% of your rounds. Being a professional even one round thrown is considered a dead bystander and unacceptable.

      Trident Tactical Solutions I've been shooting my hole life but with mostly long guns, bought my first pistol this past week and kept shooting high left, watched your video and practiced the squeeze squeeze squeeze, I am now getting every shot at 5,7,10 yards in about a 3 in group, thanks for the vids

    Question about aiming with both eyes open. I was taught in my training that it is best never to close one eye, so all of my focus has been on my target while using my dominant right eye (right handed) to watch the front sight. Of course I see two guns and have to make sure my right eye has focused on the gun on the left, it's a bit difficult at times it a rushed situation. Is there a way to better improve on this?

    • @UnitedDefenseTactical
      @UnitedDefenseTactical  Před 7 lety +6

      You will always see two guns. Watch this video to learn how to strengthen the eye.

    Is natural respiratory pause as fundamentally important when shooting a pistol as shooting a rifle? I would think yes, but then again there is no butt stock resting near the chest to move the muzzle when breathing.

    • @UnitedDefenseTactical
      @UnitedDefenseTactical  Před 7 lety +5

      No it is not. You don't want to hold your breath or pause. Breathing slowly corrects for this. As you breath in your lungs fill up and the gun will naturally rise a little. Close quarters this is no big deal but the further you go just be aware that you may need to do a little adjusting as you breath. As you breath out the gun will drop a bit. Keep that in mind and stay ahead of the game.

    May I ask what gun you use? A Sig perhaps? As a 52 y/o ambidextrous shooter, I've decided to stick to left hand most of the time, seeing that I'm left eye dominant. I currently use a G43, I find myself going back to Glocks every time. When I served in the Army as a medic, the M9A1 was my carry. In the past I've tried the Colts and Kimber as well. Still the same thing happens every time, back to Glock. Recently, I've checked out the Sig P320 and FN 590. At this time I'm leaning towards the G19 or Sig P320. Keep up the great work! Thanks for posting!

      I normally run a 226, Tacops, but now I run a G42 and G19. I love a double action but I face facts. Striker fire is a little faster but the double action is more reliable for work as we did in the Teams.
      My choices as of now:
      G19 (Modified)
      G42
      HK VP9
      Sig P320
